Someone today on TV said. "The children that you see leaving their destroyed houses, dragging their suitcases through the dusty roads, those are the terorists of tomorrow!" Nothing new, but definetly hitting it on the spot!

lol, !!! Good comment! -
Can I ask a silly question concerning FA rifles in general? Besides reliability and the comfort of easy cleaning, can you realy profit greatly from a good rifle. I mean is aiming and firing much easier with a G36 than with an AK? Does it realy make a great difference? Can a good rifle compared to a bad one realy safe your life and give you the competitive edge over your enemy. I always wondered. I assume in house to house combat an old AK is just as fine as a G36! Teach me wrong cause I realy dont know much about rifles! Why does the US bother to develop a new rifle. Why not just taking the G36. What is the great advantage of such a costly new rifle (and I dont mean this heavy big machine gun to which THIS thread is dedicated)!

<Jesus, it is so hard to keep up with this thread. Everytime I want to contribute I got to read 3 pages PLUS all the linked articles. Like in a TV-series there should be a short summary "what happened so far".

That is the statue. very nice. But in the US you got Case law, which means if you can find a simillar case that happened elsewhere you might be very well able to succeed. But in order to find such a past case you need a good lawyer. You need to look up a case with comparative negligence, best is if you find one that happened in YOUR state. Did you have a look at this one: http://www.ourpeak.com/spatin/negligence.html Comparative negligence comes into play when it is contended that two or more parties failed to perform at the standard of the "ordinary reasonable person". For example, suppose one person was driving too fast in a patch of dense fog on the highway and hit a car -- but the car that was hit did not have its lights on as it should have. In a situation where each party has some degree of negligence in causing an accident, the responsibility to the other person(s) is reduced by the others' degree of negligence. For example suppose a jury decides that the driver going too fast in the fog was 60% responsible for the accident, while the driver without vehicle lights on is 40% responsible. If the driver who didn't have his lights on would have recovered $10,000, his recovery would be reduced to $6,000 because of his 40% contributory negligence. Whether the speeding driver would recover anything will depend on state law -- in some states the driver who bears over 50% of the responsibility would recover nothing, not the 40% of his damages.

In case you didn't know, Iraq was actually one of the most well developed nation in the middle east - that is - it used to be before Desert Storm, the embargo and the following illegal bombings! Actually a few decades ago it used to be Afghanistan! Ironic, isnt it?
-
I may assume you want an answer to a legal issue? Well then I can tell you that it very much depends on the country you are from and definetly also the field you are talking about. Private law? Public law? Statutory law? Case study law? bla bla bla. Come forward and speak up. Or do you need legal assistance because the CIA server kicked you?
-
Damn it seems that we depend on the CIAs! Where are those people when you need them?

Iraqis doctors are not allowed to examine dead bodies of prisoners if the US delivers a death-certificate! (for the ones of you being able to understand german please look for a very interesting article on the Spiegel-site. (Gestorben mit einem Sandsack über dem Kopf) and click on the movie. You will stop trusting what you see and hear! Quite shocking.

A device to facilitate the movements of a character is not required. Since all "interesting" actions that a in-game character can undertake are and should be limited. However I suppose that in the future more and more games will be listening to verbal commands. This does not only facilitate the "complicated" navigation of some games but it offers endless amounts of addditional commands. And those commands dont have to be learned by heart, the computer will be up to interpret the words and translate them into an ingame command! 1 All, Hit the dirt!

Are we intel owners forced to buy new motherboard
Albert Schweitzer replied to Albert Schweitzer's topic in OFFTOPIC
No, Leone, you get me wrong. I want to think long term. Wouldnt it be great if I could upgrade in a year and simply would have to replace the processor. But I guess it implies new motherboard and new RAM as well and then...well I could also buy a whole new system no? What is the advantage to a notebook computer then? -
The british forces are doing a better job than the americans? Well you cant quite compare the two can you? Not size-wise and not engagement-wise!
-
If I remember correctly then the guys from the columbine shooting were called the "black Trenchcoat gang"... shock ..deja vu!

What went wrong today. Did you have problems to access this board too Tex?
-
Oh, and I forgot to mention one thing. In order to move around in iraq you need the support of the US military. But in order to get this support you have to earn a reputation of being a "positive" journalist. Just like in the white house. The most friendly correspondants get to ask the most questions! Dont get me wrong. On this issue I am not subjective at all, I wouldnt mind calling Al Jazeera biased and Fox objective. Great we start to dicuss the journalistic point of view as well.

Are we intel owners forced to buy new motherboard
Albert Schweitzer replied to Albert Schweitzer's topic in OFFTOPIC
There was a time when we could simply replace the processor. the last motherboard jump only went from 2.55 to 3.55 (??) or was it even less? Much less? With motherboard-jump I mean the possibility to change processor without having to buy a new motherboard too. -
Well there is a certain truth to it. A newspaper, or journalism in general is only objective if it has access to a full angle view. But during the iraq war now (for instance), journalists view-distance is limited by 2 factors: -only move into areas that you feel secure, e.g. embedded -only move into areas that the US military lets you access. Journalists are not free to move around in iraq. The risk of being kidnapped is not quantifiable. They are only able to gather informations by A) american military official announcements, B) embedded or C) asking around in the "secure" neighbourhood D) Asking muslim humanitarian organisations. xxx being invited by a representant of the muslim resistance must be rejected, it could be a trap of kidnappers xxx Not ignoring the courage and professionalism of journalists, I still believe this heavily reduces the possibility of getting a 360° view. Al Jazeera is definetly a bit biased. But still their journalists are free to move around in iraq without the risk of being attacked or kidnapped. This gives them a hell lot of a competitive edge over their western counterparts (CNN, BBC, Fox)

Sad enough that everytime we reinstall our OS we have to download tons MBs of security fixes. I wonder if the entire fixes are bigger than Windows itself?
-
And to prevent such a silly incident from happening again go update your Windows. There was a security-fix out for that problem already 2 months ago! Oh..and get WINPATROL. For me one of the best programms to keep an eye on what a program WHEN enters and modifies my computer. I suggest you get it!

Isnt the Sasser-virus supposed to do something simillar?

When I am surfing I am usually listening to an online radio station. Makes time past much faster but especially if I dont have a cool night out on Fridays and Saturdays then this is my little Beta-endorphin substitute. Would be interesting to know if you use online radio at all or what station you like. My favourite is  Swingin' Pop Standards  Accu Radio!
