Noone is asking to glorify the sacrifice of the german soldiers, noone requests to forget about the cruelties committed by WEHRMACHT soldiers, but simply to make people understand that D-Day is not (only) a great HEROIC event that gave people finally the occasion to "FIGHT EVIL", to bravely DIE for ones country, but that it is a day in which thousands and thousands of teenager slaughtered each other. If you want to celebrate the victory over Nazi germany well fine then go organise a big marching parade, a great great fire-work, let your national military do some air-show presentations and a little show off in the local stadium. Fine with me.

Nah, that is not true that we attack all games besides OFP. I was a hard defender of Sacred, of MOHAA, of SOF2, of RTCW, of FarCry and even NWO. And all those games were discussed here. Still, I didnt like Söldner. I tried the demo and it was dissapointing. For me mostly because of the graphics. They had 3 years time to build an engine that creates better maps than OFP, but they just didnt succeed. The maps and terrain architecture is too basic, too un-pretty! And games like IL2 had often more people defending it than OFP!

Reaper, good comment. And I especially understand your feelings about sports-stars. But I also think that these fallen british soldiers would love the idea that in our times heros kick leather-balls instead being awarded for shooting someone they dont know. And tomorrow I can give you stats on how many brits actually participated during the landing. Some people will be amazed about the sum in contrast to US forces involved.

It was part of my school duties to do a social month and work in a hospital. I saw many of those former soldiers starting to cry because they were afraid of meeting god and having to explain their deeds committed during WWII. (I also met Johannes Steinhoff there shortly before he died, he was one of the highest ranking people in the Luftwaffe and afterwards became the NATO general).

You should by this weeks "Der Spiegel" there you can read the entire story about the gunner who shot over 3000 american soldiers with a MG and an ordianry rifle. But he is not proud of it, neither am I. But being put into one of those bunkers and fire for your life, well I guess I would have done the same thing. Sad enough!

I am happy that fate turned against us that day. But dont make me ignore all the soldiers that fell on the german side. For our cancelor it is a pretty tough walk on the edge: to celebrate the defeat of Nazi germany without blaming every german soldier that served back then!

what is the advantage to hear teamspeak over headset and game over speakers? Â Not even 2 different soundcards would be able to deal with that? I use both headset and speakers to listen to OFP & Teamspeak. Works perfectly fine for me!

Bullshit, all you need is the right plug ( a plug that makes 2 out of 1 line-out. I costs around 16 Euros or so. Actually I have 2 times 2.1 speakers connected and for my headset I only plug in the mic. Later tonight I can post a pic of the plug I am using. It is simple as hell. (but if you want to hear ONLY teamspeak over headphones and at the same time ONLY ofp over speakers then you got a problem!)

For the current profiles, I really don't think 300 characters is nearly enough. I tend to ramble, but still... It's not as if a low-bandwidth user is forced to look at them everytime they browse the boards (ala the 100 kb image rule, etc) Of course, this is all said under the assumption that the character limit can be set/altered by the mods. I think the images in the sigs should be far more restricted as far as kb size is concerned. I could easily transform my avatar pig (sorry, I mean pic) down to 2kb or even less. I dont even want to imagine what it is like for all 56k users to upload certain pages of this board, and I am not talking about screenshots, i am talking about the picture spam that all of us put into our sig! Â

I have a question: What do you think is missing in the setup of the profiles. i think we should all have a little image of the custom face that we use in our signature. I mean I am a bad example cause I already have as an avatar. But wouldnt it be fun?

It isnt that easy. Look I remember stories from germans that refused to take part in WWII and deserted. Still nowadays those individuals are considered to have been egoistic cowards. Surely they had the right attitude, but they let down their comrades. Quite ironic! The decision whether a war is just or injust has to be decided on the home-front, not in the military (military is only an executive authority not a judiciary). Also, I claim that 90% of all deserters dont do it because of "moral" issues but because of fear for their life. This "the war is not just" is most often a self made apology to fight their own remources! I dont want to claim that I am more of a courageous person but one should think before enlisting. The problem here is once again in the system of the american military. The spin- off advantages of joining the army are sometimes so extreme that people are often forgetting what they are actually signing up for. However!!! There are cases of soldiers that have been to iraq, killed several iraqis and couldnt take it no more. How should we judge that?

I dont get it! Somone creates a mission. The others have to succeed in it and in the meantime have to take good pics? Thats more than just tough. And do you believe we will get good pictures out of action? Â Anyway, gotta go to bed!

Carps are realy nice to fish. They can get pretty heavy and are powerful to fight. (but too easy to make them bite). I was fishing a lot when I was younger and my mom got realy angry every time I brought home ANOTHER fish to cook or grill. Carps must be well washed and cleaned otherwise they taste very muddy..yes they do! I know it, I ate too many of them!
