Sounds like your PC has seen some action!

I know what you are talking about. Every time I got a new piece in my computer I first tested it with OFP. But surely OFP is no longer a good benchmark since it doesnt use your hardware in an optimised way. COD is no challenge to most modern computers but Far Cry definetly is... because... if you realy want to be astonished then you should challenge your computer with ALL DX9.1 effects... It is the best benchmark game for new PCs

So all jews are supposed to pack their things and leave France as soon as possible. They are living under constant fear for their life Strange, when I last visited Paris the jewish district near the Notre Dame (or better St Germain) looked relatively peaceful. Sorry but the israeli Prime Minister is pretty savage in his way of doing politics... What a useless comment

Feel free to discuss about GMAIL, their potential to beat Hotmail and YAHOO. And tell us why or why not you dont use any of these online mail accounts. Arent they good to avoid spam?

The truth about Canadian peacekeepers.

Can someone please clearly identify the "achievements" of Nato actions vs. the achievements of KFOR actions in that conflict? -

Hey Bals, you seem to have been to a lot of places. So what do you say about the somalia mod? You should be able to judge it! -
Ah bastler, you drag me into this sentimental Billy Joel stuff. Most of his songs were great. What about the Sting song? That one is even more famous. I am sure most of you know what I am talking about! "I hope the russians love their children too" ... that line always made me shiver

Again I have to disagree for the second time. I believe that to a certain extent the american soldiers ARE liberators. A brutal regime was destroyed and there was a certain bloodprice the nation had to pay. I indeed believe that a great percentage of iraqis see the americans as liberators. Certainly, with all their pride they want this dominant western nation to get out of their holy land as soon as possible. Lets not forget that we are considered as weak non-believers and it must be pretty shamefull for muslims to be "controlled" by one. The brutality with which many of the attacks in Iraq are being carried out shows that actual "resistance" fighters are only a minority. Noone can tell me that deliberately killing iraqi civillians, attacking aid organisations or blowing up hospitals has any use. No, those are being organised by leaders that want to profit from the power vaccum if they get the power they wont be any different than Saddam. But at the moment I am somewhat optimistic that Iraq can find its own way and I believe that many american soldiers are liberators, even if the liberators killed ordinary soldiers or unfortunately "civillians" On the other hand the administration did several mistakes. I do not defend the way the war was carried out. You cannot put a naive redneck-marine, who never left the country before, into such a culturally sensitive environment. Of course some of them start looking at muslims just like at Vietcongs. Abu Ghraib was a "deliberate" lack of control. Söldners are a "deliberate" lack of control, saying "first every male iraqi is a soldier unless proven otherwise" that was a "deliberate" lack of controll as well. Why do I think it was deliberate? Because A:) A tightly organised and authoritarian military like seems to be rather untight and anarchistic when it comes to treating prisoners. Because B:) After ABU Graib heads were supposed to role. Which ones did? The ones of Lower ranks! It is not too hard to find letters on the net of american soldiers regarding muslims as scum. I dont blame them... that is a logical consequence of war, but with a "tight" morality control no such thing would ever happen. And the Bush administration was even more dilligent than muslim leaders. By now many american hate muslims more than they hate us. We just got more surgical weapons to punish them.

ehmmm. If Bush is responsible for that deficit then Clinton was responsible for the boom in the nineties. You cant blame Bush for the after-9/11-dollar-shock or for the previously undervalued Euro. I am not defending his politics but to draw that conclusion is nonesense Â

The problem is so easy to identify Listening to the west (EU) implies "giving in" "giving in" may be interpreted by the other side as "weakness" Hope any of the 2 sides understands that "giving in" in europe is considered as "a sign of wisdom & stregnth"

BF42 is the most realistic military game
Albert Schweitzer replied to sputnik monroe's topic in OFFTOPIC
And that is why the armies have chosen battlefield to be the new strategy-simulator for their ground forces! lol -
I am sure they can need some german assistance. We still have some experience East german specialists on how to build the wall correctly, where to place the mines and the guard towers. On the other hand we have some civillian specialists that know how to build tunnels, self-made planes and bridges to cross the wall.

BTW I saw Bill Clinton yesterday. He came to Berlin to promote his book and visited a bookshop in the center. Hell even though he isnt the president anymore he still came with about 7 cars of which 2 were basically tank-like jeeps. This is Berlin not Mogadishu. But I was surprised, he is much taller and looks much stronger than I imagined! (no kiddin, I was realy around when he left the store)

BF42 is the most realistic military game
Albert Schweitzer replied to sputnik monroe's topic in OFFTOPIC
First someone has got to tell me why "BF194 whatever" is realistic. I can put simple factors why OFP has realistic components 1. Balistics 2. Weapon Aiming & potential accuracy 3. terrain & orientational tools 4. human's physical limitations (aiming while running, aiming after running, aiming after a hit) 5. vehicule damage accuracy 6. Squad commands and hell you DIE after one bullet, isnt that realistic enough I guess those reporters bought the game and tested it in "deathmatch" mode. -

BF42 is the most realistic military game
Albert Schweitzer replied to sputnik monroe's topic in OFFTOPIC
Slightely more ''realistic'' version: 1. Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis 2. Rainbow Six 3: Rainbow Shield 3. Call of Duty 4. America's Army 5. SOCOM II: U.S. Navy Seals 6. Conflict: Desert Storm 7. Medal of Honor Franchise 8. Battlefield 1942 9. Vietcong 10. Day of Defeat I heard someone say that Call Of Duty is unrealistic and should be at #10, but it is more realistic then Day of Defeat (CS in WW2), Battlefield 1942 (in CoD you are reassigned to a tank division, in BF42 you just jump in an airplane without any training) and the fact that they call the MoH games a ''franchise'' says enough imo. Agree, besides MP, Call of duty has indeed realistic parts. The scenarios are realistic and historically somewhat correct. It is definetly not correct concerning physics and gameplay, but athmospherics are great. What about Global Operations? It is the game with probably the most adequate weapons handling and phsyics, I would see it far before COD and MOHAA -

Wha... This isn't serious?!?!? Where's that slipknot I tied when I heard that The Sims has sold way more than OFP:CWC?! Â Well, this is an outrage really... But as someone said not surprising... Just odd :o By the way, didn't someone at those MOH forums claim that the list was a result of a poll done on the TV station in questions viewers? Well, atleast OFP is one of the top 7 alltime games according to Swedish PCGAMER Â No IT IS ANOYING OFP never claimed to be the best game on earth, never to have the best graphics and effects, or the best MP-missions, or the best engine BUT IF ONE PRIZE BELONGS TO OFP ... then it is realism. -

A fully equipped soldier cant swim. Omaha beach should be the best WWII reference for that! But I agree, nothing against BF1942 but it is just goddamn unrealstic. Anyone has a link to their site? Back in BCT we had to swim in full combat gear. Don'tt know what your talking about. I dont doubt that, but you should also know that many of the Omaha soldiers simply drowned during the landing without being hit by a single bullet. Many landing boats opened their gates too early or because they were stuck in barrier. -

You see, this realy makes me angry, no kiddin, it does. How goddamn stupid can you be and then claim you are a "journalist". Second time this week now I come into contact with an article that totally I mean realy totally spastic. I dont realy care that he is saying this or that about OFP but because whoever did this ranking has absolutely NO fucking clue about what he is talking. But often this is also some sort of strategy. The financial Times germany brought out half a page about our company (we are barely 40 people) and tried show that we are not as independant raters as we pretend to be. The article was well researched but the guy unfortunately didnt have enough industry experience to read the traces in the sand. It didnt harm us at all but it turned out that the financial Times is under pressure because they are loosing readers and the journalists are actually ordered to write "bullshit" if only it makes them swim against the stream. I am not too sure whether they, with their ranking, wanted to represent the truth or just attract more attention in the MP community.
