Yes... and strangely enough this watch was suddenly counting backward... yeah blame that on our team! Secondly ... time wise they were simpyl better ... whether you like it or not! Passing the starting line twice does not mean an advantage. If such a mistake happens then the rider usually reacts but this time watch did not indicate it. You got the medals, we were faster ... with or without this silly mistake. You insist on this silly detail (which didnt influence the race AT ALL). And everyone knows we remain the strongest nation d'equitation du monde. THis doesnt mean another war but if in the future  I see a horse that speeks french I will call the butcher. Isnt it strange to have a gold medal for not being the fastest? The french team dropped the stupid fence twice whereas the german horses didnt touch a single one.... so you say that not touching a line twice is more important than being capable to master the course? Funny man! Okay france, well done, your riders suck but you are capable to not passing a line twice. Congratulations! Here you have the 2 german gold medals! SUCKERS Maybe in the future we should call it the pass-the-line-once-championship! (hey ran  )

I couldnt believe what I saw yesterday. The "bad loosers" french team whined and complained about the german gold medal so it was finally taken away from our team. NOOOOOOOOOOOO the reason was NOT doping, the reason was NOT cheating, neither was the reason bad behaviour. NO the reason was that the greek watch didnt work correctly (counted backward), and it was misinterpreted by the german sportslady. YOU FRENCH ARE BAD LOOSERS, SHAME ON YOU!!! There is little to be proud about this parasite medal you stole!

Well I liked SOF1&2 so I'm hoping  There is one thing that really impresses me with Doom3. The length of it. The amount of levels. Today most games are finnished within a day or two. I looked through the files and I see I still got a long way to go. Yay! SOF's had one thing cool. I liked to snean to the guy from behind and shoot the back of his head from Desert Eagle. His face would blow up. Hell, the best muptiplayer game ever. ALL you need was the AK and the pumpgun!

P4 3.2 / Ati Radeon 9800 Pro My system runs smoothly at medium detail level and 4x AntiAliasing. (60+ frames). No complaints there. However I do have the problems that sharp corners of objects look too pixeled. I somehow solved that by changing my graphic cards settings in windows. I can run at high details but then I only get around 40 Frames and yes that means it appears choppy. All in all I agree that it is the best scripted game ever. The athomsphere is pretty depressing and many of the shock-effects can make your heart stop for a minute. But then again, after 2 hours you only have one wish "let me get out of here" .... so I am actually just continuing to run through the map to get out of this freaky place. Sound wise it couldnt be better. The guns suck but the environmental sound is spectacular (except the stupid evil laughter). I am quite happy with the game. The maps appear all the same but if you pay atention you see that details differ very much. The monsters are good but some are too repetivive and others apear just once or twice and then never again. Where are all the spiders gone? Instead I only see the fireball-throwing morons. And where are the big batles, a maximum of 5 enemies surround you but never realy more. The "big enemies" are weak as hell and I actually never lost a life because of them but because jumping into some nuclear waste or into a big black hole. I want them all around me! The weapons are .... well not what I expected.... I somehow dont like the sounds however it is great to see that some weapons have a greater impact on a specific enemy than others.

Since the beginning of this month it is allowed for a couple to share a bed inside the military camp and especially during peace-keeping missions outside the country. Actually the Bundeswehr is obliged to also give them the adequate location of privacy. The only exception is that it should not be practiced during active working hours nor influence the everyday "performance" of a soldier at work (you know... being tired, exhausted or complaining about muscle aches) Â what do you think? Now it will show who of you are hardcore-conservatists! german source english source (please note that the law has already passed since then) german women hitting the dirt

people, lets not get too explicit since I fear this thread might be closed. Okay the male+male factor might be a bit strange, I fully agree. But that is the way people are oriented and you have to live with it, may it be in corporate germany or military germany. Besides, some homosex. recruits know what they sign up for. I doubt they are more coward, less sportive or have strange illusions about living with men. The prejudice factor certainly also exists amongst german soldiers but I think we may be slightly more tolerant than lets say the russian or american army. The logical consequence of less prejudice is that homosex. become more self-secure and have a greater confidence in what they do. I believe that with growing tolerance we might soon have a society in which homos no longer are easy identifiable nor stereotypical. (which, i think they are still now) -

It is a proven fact that this improves the stress-management of a soldier and makes him more resistant against home-sickness. -
I hope they treat the hostage well. I cant imagine what the cow must feel right now.

I still dont understand why RPGS can be so powerful! I know they are.... it is just.... such a tiny thing can break so big things?

What about rape? What about a girl that is not capable to financially support a child? I would totally understand a law to ban abortion if the society is there to support the woman. But in the US the social welfare is not realy kind to people that are in need. A women getting pregnant and loosing her job would probably end up homeless if there is no family around to support her. Is that what you want? In Germany abortion is allowed but it brings along certain obligations: first you have to consult a so called family advisor with who you openly discusses advantages and disadvantages of abortion. And if the girl then decides to give birth to the child she will be supported financially by the government. This ensures that the baby is not born in the trainstation or a shelter for homeless people, but has a fair chance to live a good life. Think twice before you judge on the issue.

looks good... but is a 4-wheeler too!

oh come on, the whole world knows that Ms Piggy was created based on the stereotype of british girls. And nowadays they run around with short T-shirts showing their big belly and a skirt that indicates a rather large sitting-plattform!

AND they need a download (and uninstall) manager. When I want to play a new mission I dont want to download a puzzle of different items before being able to play. It would be so great if the missions with new maps and new addons would be easier to install.

the fat guy is a priest visiting the troops However fact is, the gunner cannot remain inside the Wiesel at all times. Probably too hot or just too tight in there. If the soldiers prefer to patrol the roads turned out then they will catch the first bullet. But, in case a patrol is being attacked in an ambush the wiesel can be called and a swarm of tiny little speedys will rush to the location. This thing is fast as hell and maneuverability is excellent. But have a look at this very STRANGE site, it also discusses about the HMMWV in Iraq!]Funny site ugly!

Polands current administration has shown a totally undiplomatic and arrogant behaviour during the last EU conferences (and it wasnt about the war in Iraq). Another country that pretends to be "forced" into the european union without ever wanting it. The poles are against it. They dont like the germans, they dont like the french (polls) and they complain about what "might" happen as a consequence of introducing the euro. I think each and every country with european traditions should be welcome in the EU, but those that are only complaining with a majority of citizens being highly critical(malta, poland, denmark, spain) are no help. In my eyes poland should first try to boost its GDP before roaring like the biggest tiger in the jungle.

I can make your computer easily lag on FarCry. Wanna bet? Just go up to 1600x1200 with all elements on highest... youll be surprised.

and if you cant win the population (turned out to be quite difficult in muslim countries)? Of course there will always be weaponry to destroy an armoured vehicule. But the harder to destroy it the harder it becomse to find/buy an adequate weapon. The 21st century will turn out to be a century of wars between christian/buddhist/hinduist countries against the fundamentalist islam (or african warlords), consequently highly developed armies fighting against third-world forces. Therefore, the first obligation should be to develop a heavy wheeled patrol vehicule that resists common weaponry. I am absolutely certain that conflicts in the future will be won in the after-war period. Those periods will generally take longer than 5 years, lots of time to get your soldiers killed. Actually it is pretty simple. The vehicule must be able to transport an entire squad. The gunner of the vehicule must be surrounded by armour. Its armour must be able to resist the weapons easy accessible on the world market. And it should be fast enough to escape from ambushes and the tires strong enough to survive bullet penetration. It should be slim enough to maneuvre in slender roads and light enough to be transported in a chopper. what else? Can a HMMWV resist a Molotov?
-
You see, this is what I dont get, In the future most wars will be started in the air, won on the ground, and peace be enforced through armoured patrols in the cities. How many soldiers did the US army loose during the times of war, when the battles were fought with tanks and planes... well not many. And please compare this to the amount of soldiers that have died since the end of the war ... just because they were attacked on their routine patrols! Whether the stryker is a good vehicule or not or whether the HMWVV is too light does not realy matter. Fact is the army should invest more time and money into protecting its soldiers during the after-war phase cause it appears this seems to be the weak spot. They spend millions and billions on new fighter planes but making a wheeled tank amphibious would be too expensive? Sorry, considering the importance of a strong patrol-vehicule for the US-army I think the Stryker looks like a damn cheap solution.

Maybe, but how many direct hits from rpgs have you heard about in Iraq. We are talking about roadside bombs, about indirect hits, about grenades thrown into the inside of the HMWVV, about attacks from roof-tops. M1, come on, be realistic, you cant patrol a large country like Iraq with stupid M1s: it is a combat vehicule. Even an rpg-7 can only disable a tank but not kill the crew (and it has the Halon firefighting gear to prevent the crew from burning alive). So there is a clear difference between driving a tank or driving a HMMWV.

Nah, In the region and the one of my boarding school there were lots of US military infrastructures around (Bonn) / (Aachen). Those were generally very nice and decent people. And finally they were ordinary tourists too. They often brought along friends and you still see lots of them touring Berlin. Â In the end those were the ones keeping the good relationship between the US and Germany. That is crucial considering the extreme amount of hardcore republicans in the army. The further every soldier moves away from Germany the more they will believe the republican bullshit about our country and our perceptions. Just read the nonesense on military.com forum and you know what I am talking about. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Of course 75.000 soldiers does not mean closing all bases, but it means primary withdrawal of airforce troops and consequently the area requiring most military infrastructure.
-
21%? First time I hear this But still this is cheaper for us than keeping german troops. Now I germany has to rethink plans to close own military bases. 21% to 100% costs, that realy does hurt. Denoir as little as those 200.000 might appear. Germany is the military command center of the US for entire europe right now. Dont you believe that the biggest military hospital outside the US, the largest military airport outside US, the largest training ground outside the US as well as the base of the (USAREUR) are not an important source of income for germany. Our own military even profits from this infrastructure so I believe this 21% is actually simillar to paying for an outsourced service that the Bundeswehr couldnt afford itself. But it is nothing new. Bush already said it a few years ago: If Schroeder wins the election in Germany then the US is gonna withdraw its troops. US Army in Germany (german source)
-
Large regional impact. A population of 75.000 soldiers is indeed the cornerstone of income for the surrounding villages. Not only the army requires goods to uphold the infrastructure but also the soldiers themselves spend money on tourist trips through germany. But most important, Â the majority of the soldiers came to europe bringing their families along. Also, the bases themselves are often lodging many additional US bureaucrats. So please take into consideration that 75.000 soldiers actually count up to at least 200.000 consumers. Loosing this amount of salary to spend plus the big investor "US-ARMY" will affect unemployment rates. Be not mistaken about it. No, Germany is NOT paying for the US bases. Or at least not that I know of about. The media only refer to the point I made above. INSTEAD, the US is intending to build bases in poland and Bulgaria to reward the us-loyalty that those countries showed in the war against Saddam.
