In general I agree with you However the MC (if that is what I meant with Monte Carlo) creates samples itself, 10.000 to be exact. The advantage is that you can show that a curve does not exist. Some cases are generally more possible than other. Gauss simply flattened it to a curve. This is a very neat example of a Monte Carlo analysis, we are using it a lot in our company (luckily not me)and this one was finalised just yesterday. The shaky light grey line in the back are the results of the Monte Carlo calculation. It is funny to see but .... umh doesnt realy add much to the discussion

Okay, too confusing what I wrote before. But Denoir, to simply put it down because a Gausian distribution was the final base of their sensitivity analysis is nonesense. To busy now to state why.. Â Gauss is not the ultimate proof of how widespread possibilities and probabilities are. Continue with a Monte Carlo analysis and you get far more precise data out of it. My point is, what counts in the end is their personal judgement of the data collected. And so far, this is all we can count on.

100.000 AT LEAST. The Lancet report had only limited access to those areas which are currently under attack. We may therefore assume that this number is the tip of the iceberg. Exaggerated? Well sounds pretty shocking but the basis of this report and the statistical approach is highly scientific. BTW: Members of Alawis family have been kidnapped

why so? I dont know much about Ashcroft.

Or what? You'll whine and post some epitaph filled gripe with smilies sprinkled liberaly through out? I'm quaking in my boots.    You're free to expect what ever you want. For example you can expect to see pigs fly,(you can even expect them to fly in public if that suits your fancy) how ever that is a very absurd expectation.   I hope it doesn't crush your feelings when I tell you that in the grand scheme of things your empty challenge is very low on my to do list. In the next 24 hours I have many important task to do after which I will have a bit of free time.I have a lot of things I plan on doing with that free time, none of which involve digging through your past post to find evidence that contradicts you.    As said earlier you can expect anything you want, we all have that right. Twenty four hours from now I expect I'll either 1. Be asleep or 2. Awake not digging through your past post. We'll just have to wait and see who's expectations become reality.   Your nearly a laugh Akira. You are cornered. It is a fair question to ask, where did Akira advocate a socialist state,? or even more precise, where did he say he would like the US be transformed into one? I am somewhat very sensitive when it comes to the old game to polarise people. In other terms 0.1 is not equal  1 and       -0.1 is not equal -1 got it? or is not equal to ... well you got the point

My advise, go have a look at Reuters and check out the recent footages of today. It is worth a look and no "cruel" images are being shown.

Okay, since this appears to be a transitional thread I may post news here In english this means that the reelection of George W Bush has triggered the Euro to climb to a record level of 1.2937 dollars. This has advantages and disadvantages but it definetly means a lower trust in the future of the US economy. Currently experts suggest that the Euro may even climb up to 1.80 in future years. Sad for the german export industry!

The curse word problem for cursed people.
Albert Schweitzer replied to BoweryBaker's topic in OFFTOPIC
The problem is that during school and university and my jobs in foreign countries I got used to swear in all different languages. In germany cursing at your job is kind of low-class but I do it 24 hours and with words that are realy realy.... very embarassing sometimes. But it turned into reflex, if I drop a glass or break something I swear... realy realy loud -

Noone takes my liberties to call Placebo and Ralphy the names they deserve! -
I disagree with that article. I think in Germany more muslims are turning into atheists than germans being converted. Furthermore our imigration policies have become so strict that only very few muslims are nowadays entering the country. Their brith rate is high but with the growing living standards and the integration process their birth rate will drop. Just look at 3rd generation immigrants.

BTW, do you people think that the Kyoto treaty is dead now? I was quite optimistica after Russia joined. But is the treaty gonna be validated without the US. Dont forget that most european nations are on the paying side and we still support it.

Hey FallenPaladin, welcome Back! Â But back to the topic. The US is a global player with a very proactive global strategy. The decision of the president affect all countries worldwide. If one thinks that this forum is biased or onesided then this is the effect of a candidate who arrogantly disrespected former friends. Unlike in the US the world is not split 50/50 in favour or against Bush but pretty much 85% against him, therefore you get the impression that this forum is not equilibrated. This board is nothing else than a mirror of the international society. You can visit many international boards and I assure you that as soon as there are non-americans participating you will find that the majority supports Kerry. If you wish it the other way around then go to military.com, a very right wing and conservative board. But you wont find many international members there. It is a hard choice but trust me this forum is much more fair and polite than other boards around, and there are many americans on this board who actively defend their position. It costs a lot of energy but it is definetly better than listening to what your politicians and media tell you about the other part of the world. Here you get the unbiased opinion of people from all around the world.

Totally agree. I am usually surfing our forum during work and I hardly have the time to read all comments anyway. So if I would have to screen through several pages before finding an interesting comment .... well then I guess I would loose my job soon.

No thanks, just settled in Berlin!

You dont get fined for calling homosexuality a sin. Full stop Iraq is not better off at the moment than with Saddam in power. Saddam had a terrible record, no doubt. But he didnt inflict 100.000 casualties per year. The country was relatively stable and a better transition-strategy would have been wise. To create a king (Saddam) without a crown and without power would have been the best way to pull him from the stage. Just because he was a terrible dictator doesnt mean he should get the punishment he deserves. He should get the best punishment that targets him and not the people that already suffered under him. Iraq is currently a country bombed back to stone age. There are shortages everywhere and the lack of stability is a determining factor Iraq to recover. Life continues because people need to live. You see traders on the roads, you see shops being opened because food needs to be distributed and families need to be fed. But that was also the case in Berlin. But dont be so ignorant to call it "ordinary life". Iraq is better of without Saddam? If iraq would be just as stable as it was under Saddam then I would praise Bush and his proactive pragmatic thinking. But the logic should have told him before that this is not possible. Even wihtout the insurgents Iraq will not become a peaceful democratic state. Iraq will one day fall apart into cultural groups each defending its own rights and teritories. Fundamentalism will return and religion will play a greater role than democracy. Maybe in the short run we will see an election and whatsoever, but in the long run it will become a regilious secular state attracting a sorts of fundementalistic ideas.

Hi there and welcome to our board We know that but with Bush being reelected the world may assume that americans generally support BUSH and all his actions.
-
That is simply incorrect! You support the idea of homosexuality is a sin? Well you may, but thanks god in germany church and state are seperated. You may believe it is a sin, but you cant declare it to be a criminal act! That is even more incorect! Oh by the way. When Cologne was bombed, life in Berlin continued as normal. When Berlin was bombed, cologne was peaceful. Nice argumentation! Only a few terorists to fight against the US? hmmm, not bad for a few terorists to launch daily attacks, kill a dozen per day and keep the country unstable. Must be bunch of hell of well equipped Mofos then!
-
No, Iraq just took potshots at patrolling US aircraft for a decade. If you're wondering whether taking potshots is considered hostile action, then you can easily do a home test by throwing a Molotov cocktail near a passing police car. Ah, you mean with the highly dangerous Anti-air batteries they had at this time? Or do you mean the dangerous ground to air rockets? Hell yes iraq realy launched dangerous attacks!

You may want to discuss serious politics at this time, but we are too busy celebrating and feeling joy to get into the details of it. But Schweizer, The reason Bush is so popular despite all those details you mentioned regarding international affairs is because Americans look at everything from one main perspective, that's America and American values and the American way of life. Â Everything we do is intended to serve our country and serve our sense of American pride. I'm not saying we don't care about the dead iraki civilians or vietnam. Â But in our viewpoint vietnam was tough time for America. Â We fought with courage, and lost many lives. Â We lost many soldiers in Irak, but these are only testaments to our courage and bravery as well as our willingness to selfsacrifice for our country. Â That is what it is all about. Â We are fighting in Irak for our ideals. I can't believe I just read that... Freedom is an American ideal that we have alot of pride in. Â That is what we are fighting for in iraq. Â That is why people are willing to support it like we are. Â This is why we support Bush. Â Our soldiers deaths are a sad but proud reminder of our patriotism and willingness to fight for those ideals in iraq. What is happening here? What has freedom to do with Iraq? Can someone please pull the propaganda plug? it is getting scary!

Kindly post the link to support your claim that "300,000" civilians have died at the hands of American war fighters. As for the deaths of civilians in general, it is a very sad thing. Â 3,000 American civilians died in 9/11 and Americans were treated to scenes of merrymaking in the streets of many Muslim countries because of it. Â American rules of engagement to not allow for targeting of civilians. Â Terrorists have no such restraint. Â Saddam could have stepped down and avoided this war if he really had his country's best interests at heart. Â Iraqis can inform on and surrender the terrorists within their midst and stop the violence. Â But if there counting on Americans turning tail and fleeing all I can say is good luck. The estimated number of civillian casualties is currently at least 100.000 (refering to the Lancet report). This report even excluded some of the greatest battle zones because they couldnt collect informtation there. The estimate is around 180.000. Add Afghanistan to that and you have a figure approaching 300.000, and a long way to go! You dont realy mean that, do you? You mean because SADDAM didnt cooperate the people have to suffer. Man you realy got a sick mind. So what was 9/11 about? Bush could have stepped down and avoided the attack on the WTC. No, that is not the essential point. The essential point is whether a war is justified. Iraq didnt attack you, iraq had no capabilities to attack you, Iraq had no connection with Al Quaida and no intentions to get WMD. Do me a patriotic favour and read your own damn reports. YOU ATTACKED AND YOU KILLED CIVILLIANS full stop.
