Which nation will win most of the gold medals?

But they arent, they are especially good in "Langlauf" (how to translate that hmmmmmm... its like horizontal skiing, like Tele-mark). There they apear unbeatable.

I think you miss the point....

Bullshit, I made my point before in a different thread. Ice-scating is a very conservative sport with a good memory. The old judges have lived through decades of russian superiority in all Ice-skating disciplines. However the time has changed and the judges need to be a little bit younger to see and realise this change. Noone has been paid, dont give me this crap.

Some countries take the Olympics too far..

aha, you try to take the piss out of me? You seriously want me to take of my processor and crawl into my mini-tower to count that little pins? I need to know, cause if I wanna upgrade my P4 I dont want to pay once again for a new socket. The P4 is already expensive enough (I should have known before!)!

    Do YoU HaVe AnY PeTs?

We always always had Berner Sennenhunde, about three generations of them, but unfortunately my dad now is in BOD of a company in Berlin, my mum often flies there and so noone is at home to take a look after a dog. Its ashame! And I am furious about it! I want to have a new dog soon! we got everyting here, a great forrest behind our house, a big garden in front of us, and we got some beatiful dog-ladies in our neighbourhood. I hope my dad retires soon, comes home and buys a new dog. (our dog looked pretty much like the one below, and they realy freak out when it starts snowing)

Some countries take the Olympics too far..

There has never been a more symbolic competition of East against West than the Winter-olympic Ice-hockey competition. I think it was in the late 70ies or early 80ies when an american college team (at this time only amateurs were allowed) beat the national team of the USSR. This was considered as a total desaster in Russia and the Kreml was furious. No wonder the US got this old team together again this year to light up the Olympic fire in Salt Lake City, probably the greatest honour for a Sportsman (greater than the gold-medal). Somehow this was of course a little provocation to the new Russia (tearing open old wounds), and therefore they reacted angrily yesterday when people complained about them having won the Ice-scating gold. Ice-skating is somehow very popular where I live and I think I have a good amateurish eye for what is a good performance and what is bad. And I have to say that the russian couple did perform well but fell. Jamie Sale and David Pelletier, the two canadians were less syncron but did showed a great performance without a single mistake. So the high marks for Russia were undeserved. Unfortunately Ice-skating is somehow conservative, and especially the old judges dont understand that russia is no longer the best nation, so russia always start with a tiny extra bonus (cause russia always won every Ice-scating medal during decades).

Which nation will win most of the gold medals?

There was only one who voted for Austria. I dont think that they will lead the statistic one day, but they sure gona be ahead of many countries (including Finland). Dont forget, they always win everything that has to do with skiing. I keep on asking myself why norway is so much stronger than all the other nordic countries. The country may be huge but the population is tiny! Maybe it is because of the reason that Norway is little urbanised (and of course it is rich)!

The worst from which I know is gymnasium (is that the word?). In this sport the children realy started at an early stage. They were given medications not to grow fast and were punished terribly for undisciplined behaviour. This practices kept on going untill the IOC changed the minimum age for participation at competitions. On the other hand, maybe it was sports events like the olympics that kept the cold war as it was, cold!!. Hwo knew what would have happened if the East and the West wouldnt have had the chance to fight against each other peacefully. (Please forgive me Avalon Lady, but what I am gonna say is meant more serious than it sounds: maybe in the middle East a bit more of sports-competitions between the countires would help the people to loose of some of their steam´)

Which nation will win most of the gold medals?

Fuck country bashing! But the topic is interesting enough! Wobble if you go the the CNN teletext you see the olympic medal statistic as I know it (it is around page 520). Oh (I need my appreciation now), did you know that IOC is situated in Lausanne, right in the city where I got my appartment. (of course those rich bastards are located down at the lake, where it costs billions and billions to buy a metre of land) good night, gotta watch sports

Which nation will win most of the gold medals?

I am sorry wobble but in the statistics I know it works that way. GOLD is what counts. So country A with one Gold Medal is ranked higher than country B with 10 silver medal.

Which nation will win most of the gold medals?

Oh, Wobble! in the standardised scale only gold medals count. So Norway leads, even if Germany or US would have 13223 silver-medals, noone would give a shit. So you try to cheat us with your scale? NORWAY STAYS POINT LEADER!

Oh, dear moderator, please understand...maybe you are misinterpreting the situation. We were just discussing the influence of the shoe industry in South-Banglagdesh on the banana consumption per capita in Kuala Lumpur. unfortunately we are having problems here to find the right Font that works for everyone.

If I see somebody doing something that I dont understand, I often tell myself: "People know what they are doing, even if you dont understand it, even if you get the impression they are brain dead.  "! As with this thread, I hope you had something in mind when you created it  (he thought so too)
