We are getting slightly unproductive here. I hate those right-wrong discussions, they end nowhere. Now we discuss each others source of information and its trustworthyness. That is ridiculous! I dont want to get stuck in that. Why cant we talk about the strategic use of the occupation. In management you would start with a SWAT analysis (estimating strengths,weakness and opportunities and threats). Sharon knows very well about the strengths (military) and about the weaknesses (uncontrolable borders) but what about the opportunities and threats. Opportunities from an occupation is to destroy any power of terrorism. But terrorism isnt a clear target, it is only found in the minds of people, what can tanks do against that? Threats, well a threat is that this occupation feeds terrorism-camps since those have a good new propaganda tool against Israel (hate) to recruit suicide-bombers (and get financial support from other Arabian countries). And with people full of hate you have a damm ugly weapon. Sharon should have known through a simple SWOT that the positive outcome is not as gloomy as the possible negative side-effect. Israel, whether right or wrong, does kill its own gloabl reputation and therefore any sympathy. Nowadays, with all the economical dependance on import/export that is not the best thing to do! Or? Â sharon will stop once he succeeded, so basically the killing will never end!

I liked what I read this morning from a spanish politician (Inocencio Arias). He said that he is surprised to see that the Israelis seem to care more about Bush raising his eyebrow than a European-Resolution. Another thing I read was good too. Uri Avneri ( Israeli activist for peace with several worldwide rewards) said: Sharon helped to kill Rabin. Now he wants to kill the backbone of the Palestinians, to reoccupy their territories. I think about what I would do. I assume that I as a palestinian I would feel committed too, to defend my motherland (even if it is not my legal land). But anyway, lets wait and see if the occupation realy changes anything. If not, if suicide bombings wont stop, then Sharon has proven to be an incompetent politician and the Isreali have to admit they followed and supported the wrong leader. And from a cold perspective I can assure you that this attack wont change jack-shit. It is a pure revenge! What a waste of young lifes and military budget!

BTW ITALY A friend of mine was a soldier at the German 'Gerbirgsjaeger' in Mittenwald. They regularily did international competitions with many other nations. Since they are considered as 'mountain-soldiers' they have competitions which have to do with Skiing (telemark) and stuff. The italians were disqualified, cause they did not use the original equipment (ski) but brought their own. And it wasnt hard to find out that they cheated cause all they did was to write 'Italian army' on top of what once said something like K2, Rossingol or Olin Mark! Must have been slightly embarrasing. But I guess they were even happy to return home earlier
