But this could still be discussed.<span id='postcolor'> Uh.. mechanised infantry in Yugoslavia - where on earth did you get that from? The only military action in Yugoslavia was the bombing. The decing step was the bombing of civilian infrastructures (power plants, bridges, government buildings, TV-stations) which led to that the local support for Milosevics Kosovo-campaign vanished. I guess you get new priorities when you are getting bombed.<span id='postcolor'> I dont agree with that! The planes didnt change Jack-shit! If you believe that then you are a victim of western military propaganda! The slaughtering continued.... and as you said they hit strategic targets (that indeed) but did not shake Milosevics military power. When the ground troups moved in (1999-06-10), yes there were ground troups (mechanised I mean light tanks, and they were indeed numerous) the UN was capable of controling military traffic. There might not have been as much blasting and shooting as with the airforce but that does make you win a battle anyway! In my consideration was the KFOR that settled the situation. YOu need to build a front /border and for this you need ground-troups, otherwise you end up in an endless slaughtering! But I guess you are talking about destruction of enemy-material and I am talking about finishing him up!

the Victory of Carnival Cruise lines is already above 100'000 tons and therefore could accomodate the titanic three times. This ship, the America World City (ugly name) will have 250'000 tons!!!! It is a decided project! I am trying to find the image of the squared ship I was talking about! If someone finds it....

I think Israel is a strong nation, but an escalation and introduction of the other surrounding arabic states would be desasterous!<span id='postcolor'> Numbers are cool, but the Israeli material is far superior to the arab material. Especially the Israeli air force is top of the line. That means they can attain air superiority and we all know what happens then. You only need to look at the Gulf War.<span id='postcolor'> Now the Gulf War is not the best example! Air superiority however does NOT change the situation in a great way as you know from the Gulf war or the ethnical conflict in Jugoslawia. Ground superiority is what counts! The Iraq as well as Jugoslawia were bombed back to stone-age but the deciding battles were fought by tanks (or in the case of Jugoslawia by mechanised infantry! But this could still be discussed. But what could not be discussed, (from a German perspective) is the risk you take when opening a war-front to the South the North and the East at the same time. Technology is not the determining facotr then. Without a Blitzkrieg a situation like this cannot be solved. Since an offensive war (e.g Blitzkrieg) is out of question for Israel I wonder what would happen. But this is going to far ...It is of course assuming the worst escalation of the conflict and the full ignorance of the Western World! I was just making up my little strategic war. Let me start CIV III and try it out!

Germany started with cutting all weapon exports to Israel. But that is rather a humanitarian decision. But as we all know do sanctions result in the wrong effects. The European Union right now just wants to make sure that its protest must be considered as a serious voice (as serious as the eye-brow of Mr. Bush), so they are looking for simple (small ) measures they can take. Israel will not withdraw so shouting and demonstrating doesnt help. But as I heard today they (e.g. Solana) probably prepares for the day when the Israelis will find out that this occuaption did not improve their situation, and this will be the actual moment of accusal. Scout, no, definetly is this a totaly different conflict, we dont need to discuss about that. I was just so amused by the irony of fate that 3 symbolic buildings are all to be found in this city and this city is not realy located on the border but more to the centre of Israel. It cant be more complicated. With Berlin it was the same, it was in West Germany, but cut into two seperate parts. But Eastern Germany itself was located far more East.

Japan has other solutions. They apply Umetate chi (or something) which is taking land from the centre of the country (mountains) and use it to earn land on the cost. This is the way how they got enough space for the new airport. Another way is to put sticks into the beach where floating sand  gets caught and slowly the ground rises. But the monster-boat you are talking about is indeed an authentic idea. Very odd but it will be squared. However this is purely a tourism project, nothing else than an oversize Cruise-ship (not moving by itself but being pulled or static). This is not an odd idea since Cruising in the fastest growing sector within the tourism industry. New ships are planned and built every year and often double in capacity! If you want to make money and you are an investor, this is where you find it! Since I work in the tourism industry I remember having watched a presentation on the cruising industry. And they realy mean it serious when they present those monster-ship-projects!

Funny enough that the story of David and Goliath is a deep component of Jewish mythology. Lets hope it does not repeat itself, Cause right now you are goliath. But you all know me, Prof. Dr. Dr. Albert Schweitzer knows a solution for every problem, may it just be chronic smelly feet or a socio-political crisis. Maybe you should build a Berlin wall that goes right through Jerusalem. And it would go right through the city leaving King Davids grave on the Jewish side and the Al Haram AL Scharif where the Aksa mosk lies (supposingly the place where Mohammed rode on his horse into heaven) on the palestinian side. So one part of the town will be called Jerusalem (similar to West Germany) and the other will be called Al-Kuds (East Germany) which is the muslimic name for Jerusalem. :; But then there would be a problem, cause exactly on this spot you also find the place where, as christians belief, Jesus held his last dinner. So I propose we built an independant state for the christians too, lets say we call it New Vatikan city. Another problem would be that the big wall will prevent the palestinians from finding an employment and the Israelis from getting cheap labour! Oh and then history would repeat itself and we would have an Middle East Cold War ( sounds pretty abstract).

All you need is V1.2 then V1.3 And finally V.146! The flashpoint CD must be in the drive. I never had that problem! Maybe you already have a new version. But what is the actual problem? Does it not recognise your CD (cleaning always helps)

The West Bank IS already occupied and civillians are already suffering. And the second point is that Israel however should not overestimate its power. You want some stats? Sure you do (just read the numbers / you dont need to understand the text) Hope you can read at least the numbers. I think Israel is a strong nation, but an escalation and introduction of the other surrounding arabic states would be desasterous!

Palestine will look like a swiss cheese afterwards. Everything be basically ruined. I dont think the Israeli will leave any stone on top of the other (a terorist could hide between) Can you imagine an attractive slogan how to attract tourists to make a trip to palestine?

I am slightly confused about the opinion some people have. As Longinius said it is not a question of legal of illegal act but of moral values. The Geneva convention are not statues made up by a superior court but a simple definition (collection) of moral senses that anyone should have (by education and hopefully to some extent also by human emotion). I am astonished by a very extremist post I read on the last page. It appears to me that some people would solve a dangerous situation by chosing the most radical solution inside of legality. "either he dies or you" is one of those nonesense sayings that I think should not be taken as a measure in war. You might be surprised to hear that but I am convinced that it is worse to shoot an inocent than to be shot. Now that is a purely moral approach, therefore theory, and practical life does differ from that. But if we dont try to keep those two things together: moral and reality! than we are again only an inch away from genocides!

No wonder your girlfriend likes to hang around with you, she doesnt get bored! I hope those late teens have no chance to find out where you life! I mean they saw your number-plate and maybe will hear your name called as eyewittness. Stupid people do stupid things! Next time you see them, dont call the cops, wait till they stop, put milk into where the air-con of their car sucks its air. After a month the car is unusable (later on you can call the cops and tell the number-plate of those neirds)

My doubts remain, but your points were definetly worth saying (and for me to read them). I'll see what other people will post in this thread. BTW: 85% would be a great result for open borders, but maybe not so great when you consider the amount of checkpoints, the amount of no-go areas and roads for palestinians and the terminated working permission for palestinians employed in Israel). The DDR (ugly communistic East Germany) prevented nearly 100% of people trying to cross the border illegaly!

Stupid Barcelona won, I dont think they deserved it. The last ten minutes the greeks could have scored. I was sure they gona make in these last seconds of the game. But again Barcelona is an old proffessional, not strong but with strong experienced nerves. Anyway Panathinaikos showed the world what they are capable to do And all the best to the team-doctor Nikos Tsouroudis who suffered an epileptic attack after the game (because a stupid spanish fan through something against his head)

But how can you know! Do you know how hard it is to find a terrorist? Ask the CIA! But now with tanks you seem to find a hundred per day! How? do they wear tatoos like the Japanese mafia. Do they have different guns than the ordinary teenager who thinks he needs to defend his country? Do they live in yellow houses? If Israel would have an intelligent satelite system I would admit that there are ways indeed to oversee the whole West-bank and Gaza-strip and pre-chose targets. But right now you cant tell me that you are aiming your machine guns at anyone that wears a gun or is around 19 years and runing over the street where he shouldnt! It makes no reasonable sense! (your secret service has an excellent reputation in terms of proffesionalism, no doubt about that! But there is a limit of tasks such an organisation can fullfill)

Now I think they are just angry demoralised by proud palestinians defending against an occupation. Now when someone shoots at you with a Kalaschnikow because you drive with your tank through their houses, THEN DONT YOU dare telling us what these people need to be called. If the french would run through our roads and occupy us (which the french would never do, cause we have a great relationship) because german terrorist blow up their civillians, I would take a gun too! That does not make me terrorist, nor does it mean that I support what those terrorists do! I would no longer be a civillian, that is clear, but definetly far away from a terrorist, rather an ordianry "la resistance" I like discussions, and I willing to see everything from 2 perspectives! But noone should ask for more sympathy as long as 2 sides are suffering!

Albert Schweitzer replied to FallenPaladin's topic in OFFTOPIC
Wow, you realy hate guy (as it appears to me) ! Anyway, Damm, you are all so pragmatic! It is not about "children become violent and shoot someone"! It is not about that! It is simply the question if "violence in films and games" have a negative pedagogical impact! Noone in Germany would tell an 18 year old what he should watch and what he should play. He would not be accused of playing banned games, even if it would against the law. But an 8 year old developes his character and temperament based on the input (media) he consumes during his childhood and teenager life. Whether he becomes a criminal or not is not part of the discussion in Germany. Damm dont be so insensitive. Children can easily be influence and they have a hard time to disgest all the stupid fucking media they are bombarded with. Children always want to watch scary horror movies and once they did they cant sleep for a week and want to sleep in their brothers room cause they are scared. Furthermore is there no necessity for children to play cruel games. The gaming industry is full of good agression-free games! I mean look at the damm Skater-pro games, they rock! (Medal of honour is doing a good job too (without blood patch) whether you like that game or not but you dont see a single drop of blood) You are absolutely right about the fact that it is the parents obligation to watch after their children! But are they capable to? No always do they do a good job nor do you know what you children are allowed to do when they visit their friends home. The cases of school-shooting in the US should have shown to you how miserably parents can fail and what paedagogical ineffiences they had! In Germany noone realy cares if teenagers drink beer or have sex! That is part of their life and doesnt realy influence their developement badly. But living without brutal games untill the age of 16/17 should be possible no? -
What do those lame palestinians think. Why this bus-bomb? For nothing! They will never keep up with the Israelis. 8 death civillians is a pretty lame score agains the Isrealian army, they scored above a hundred yesterday! [excuse my sarcasm]

The russians had occupied and controled the country as well before the afghans changed strategy and started with effective counterattacks!

I dont realy know! I didnt play games like this when I was 12 or thirteen. I cant judge on that. But we are grown-ups and see world in a far more experienced context. But I can imagine a 12 year old, how he grins in a sadistic way when in Wolfenstein the bones are flying across the room. And if I imagine them talking in school about it: the bloody mess you can make with grenades. I dont have a good feeling with that. It reminds of when I was young and children in school talked about the forbidden Horror-movies they watched. After a few years those children became famous for their perverted minds and somehow it found a way into their grown-up character. If there are games or films children wanna watch or play. They get them whether they are 8 or 18. Except if they are banned or modified! -
I must agree on that, special forces never work in more than 3-4 people (at least in my country). Are you sure it stated: special forces?

We have thousands of underground bunkers where we produce our new AI tanks of the Hirsch class, which have the new impulse weapons and low distance microwave disruptor and the armour is no longer made of steel but high-density ceramics (harder than diamond). The new satelite system Galileo is used to interrupt you GPS satelites, it is up in space 2005. So the war of the future will be fought on ground again. Â Planes will be blind! The problem right now is not that we are not prepared to face the US but we have learned our lesson to fight the whole world at once. So first we start to create different opposing parties in the world. Step one was our support of muslimic extremists. Mohamed Atta was trained in Germany, but you probably knew that. Step 2 is to prepare the European union to become independant from the NATO. Step 3 is the ultimate war...like you have never seen it before... no this is not a reasonable assumption. They play at home. There might be a slight risk of hitting 1-1 or 2-1 but not being beaten. This sounds unrealistic, especially since Bayer Leverkusen is by far the strongest team in Germany this year. But we will see!
