it would be funny to see that the grass far away dissapears but remains a meter around the place where hostile soldiers are hiding, so you would always see bushes or grass moving!
-
Oh great, I see it coming: in coop someone will definetly do the yoke to choose a mean looking male face and give it a high pitch female voice.
-
I agree to a certain point, but since we are nitpicking - I you are playing realisticly in first person then the grass 100 metres away is irrlevant since the grass few metres ahead of you should already cover your view ( on an even ground ). "trampled down to make a better firing position". Never heard of this tactic. If the ground is even then you would have to trample down the grass from you up to the potential enemy. The only problem is when the enemy is hiding on higher ground then you are. Cause then it would be the grass right in front of him that would cover your view.

I fully agree with all you said. I realy have troubles with ArmA too, but I see the potential and I see that this potential is being positvely exploitet from one patch to the other. ArmA was released too early, so what, I already enough fun for now. But could I ban you anyway? Â Â -
he never said that he wants to "play" this way. He was refering to using the editor to set up huge battles and enjoy the show without getting shot. rather rude
-
I oppose the idea of removing it just because it doesnt work properly right now. As I believe a proper military simulation must take vegetation into account. I rather prefer that the effect increases realism for me but makes life easier for the AI then the other way around. I guess anyone who served in a reconnaissance unit would definetly claim that ArmA stinks without grass.

CTD when entering Multiplayer session

Yes I am using an Ethernet Controller, but the thread never clearly pointed out, what steps someone should take to work around it. -
CTD when entering Multiplayer session
Albert Schweitzer replied to Albert Schweitzer's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
so I guess I am the only one! But I found some threads in german forums that share it. -
I can rarely enter a Multiplayer game cause this usually ends to a CTD. My hardware copes very well with the campaign but I would like to one day go Multiplay. Has this issue been tackled in the new patch?

I was so sick and tired of the terrible performance of OFP! 3 generations of computers had to cope with this game and none of them was capable to master it, fxxxx slideshows on even the best hardware! Â Â But ArmA just runs smoooth, and finally I no longer have to touch the screen with my noose to see hostile soldiers at 100m distance! -
You think? setAccTime works perfectly well in the mission editor for me, there are no limits, you can set it to 1000000 if you like but your computer will likely overheat. The numbers tell you the factor compared to real time. If you just want to skip to day or night, you can use skiptime <number> to skip x amount of hours. okay, thanks. Then I will have to keep trying, maybe I find the error.

okay, 4 is the fastest you can get? But in OFP I was able to speed up things much more! http://youtube.com/watch?v=0dIqajtIkTQ (sorry, highly pathetic text but it but it was just an experiment and other ironical pictures were meant to be put in between) Isnt that possible in ArmA anymore? (oh, and about the minus, I think adding or deleting it doesnt change anything)

Too difficult even on Easy Setting ?

lets hope this will change some things to the better -
Glad that BIS didn't give in to 'Ragdoll'

1.05 could this be the change we are talking abou`, or is this something else? -
marvelous (always wanted to use that word one day) Â . It has nothing to do with becoming Counterstrike when implementing this change. For single player and coop this definetly adds to the experience.

sorry to bring this up again. Can anybody just have a quick look and tell my why setacctime wont work here?
-
why doesnt this work anymore, for christ sake the problem is that this setacctime doesnt realy work anymore... what mistake did I make? I am building a script that shows a short turn of the sun.

Honestly, I believe the AI is dump as it awalys was in OFP! So far, if a bullet hit me, I goddamn deserved it! What I still realy dont like, and that is one of the most important athmospheric factors, is the interaction of soldiers and troops. I sometimes feel like playing the Zombie Mod. I take a jeep, mount as gunner, shoot at a group, kill 2, wait till the rise again, kill another 2, and their learning curve is basically zero. But nevertheless, me like ArmA -
Problem with the jeep crew in Somato Night Mission
Albert Schweitzer replied to Morlock's topic in ARMA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
Jep, this is the strategy I tried as well, but it doesnt work. A) the AI sucks at shooting TOW's B) they dont listen to my "hold fire" at all C) why is it they leave the light of the car on even though I told them to stay in stealth Mode? D) the symbol for gunner is somewhat confusing, the gunenr inside my car has a crosshair as mark, the gunner in the other car doesnt. E) where the hell do I find the Arti-support command? In OFP it was in the radio options, here in ArmA it wasnt there. Quite anyoing the mission. -
Sniper mission - how kool
Albert Schweitzer replied to JudgeDredd's topic in ARMA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
I had a hard time approaching the building without being noticed. so I just did it the Rambo way. Unfortunately the entire place is full of patrols and lonely enemies, so you constantly run into enemy fire. I stole a jeep, and drove right into the bulding, mounted as gunner and shot the general, turned around inside the building and drove out again! -
sure, it was my first attempt to find out what I have to be careful of when creating custom faces. It isnt as easy as OFP, especially the nose textures are challenging. I was trying to make a custom face of Dieter Bohlen just for fun (the germans will know him). He is part of the german jury of Superstars and a very ambigious person of public attention. I will keep working on it for my own learning curve, the first attempt failed miserably, but the face I created looks so funny ingame, I nearly dropped dead when seeing it the first time.

Nice work on the 505 release/ patch 1.4
Albert Schweitzer replied to theedge_jinx's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
Agree here too. ArmA's performance is quite good. I can play without problems on high to extra high settings. There are problems with the game, but they only become obvious because the graphics is now up to modern standards. I am playing with version 1.2 and it is fun. Dont loose confidence BIS, you are doing a good job and sales figures will rise once the patches are being released. I know three friends who dont buy the game untill then, but soon they will. -
yes she will, mine took a while too. Anyhow, I hope that soon with the next patch we might be able to switch to ArmA. I will definetly join then.
