Also, Japan had just lost its allies from europe, its fleet was heavily destroyed, they were aware that america would now focus all its attention away from europe towards Japan. I can show you precise references that this is not simply my thesis but a common opinion: "truman used the atomic bomb as symbolic sign to Stalin". But Stalin of course wasnt amazed at all since his secret service informed him well about what the americans had developed there. So all in all not the quite a very successful advertising campaign. It would have been as if someone would have thrown an atomic bomb on italy after germany had surrendered.

Sure, Sure. I was just trying to hit back  ! Of course would it have had a great impact. And the atomic bomb would of couse first hit Germany if it wouldnt have surrendered (I told them we can do it but they were tired of fighting you know). Oppenheimer and Einstein are only a two of the many german scientists that contributed to the developement of the Manhattan project. But they were working in the US and the US would have had finished that thing first (even though in 1939 they were far behind)! Shall we like Oppenheimer because he supported the right side or hate him because he deliberately developed what he knew would be the most terrible weapon ever?  But to throw the nuke was of course a silly act of Truman and Groves. Everyone knows that Stalin would have soon declared war on kingdom Japan and without the support of Germany they would have surrendered immediately. The atomic bomb was used purely for the reason to show the USSR the power of the US, nothing more nothing less. So dont again give me this hollywood interpretations of "the right step"!  Did you know that the tempreature was 10°mio degree Celsius and therefore everything (even stone) melted to real pie. But you could still see the humans cause their shadows burned black into the soil and walls.

It made an end to that terrible war! And as has been said previously we dont know what amount of casualties the war without nukes would have costed. But lets not forget that this was a 90% civilian loss, a terrible way of demoralising a nation. America was probably the only nation involved that luckily didnt pay a great price in that war!

hehe!   I loved doing this stuff when i was younger (I still love it now but my friends actually grew up so now I would have to do it alone). Actually I was the typical teenager that one day would get his arm blown off while experimenting with an old WWII grenade that I found in the woods (we found allready 3 in the forrest behind our house). In germany we dont have such things as potato guns, we build catapults, bending real trees and stuff. And I bet those catapults were 10 times stronger than a silly potato gun   (but static). And we constructed bombs by cutting open fireworks and combining the gun-powder. We blew off a large TV and it jumped about 20 cm into the air before falling into bits and pieces! Â

Unfortunately I have no damm clue about handguns and their performance . But I like design and I am sure many of you fall in love with a gun especially because of it appearance and sound. Paratrooper I dont really know if what you are saying is correct! Dont forget that during this time Germany was extremely profiting from the world economic boom and boosted it GDP. Furthermore did it establish european wide boundaries with other nations. THe UK had the same preconditions but did not make use of them. Thatcher was overproud, arrogant and too conservative. One thing I remember is that during the discussion whether european leaders would accept the reunification of Germany, Thatcher was holding a map in her hands of Germany before WWI and said: I see, that is what they want to get back, dont they?" THis is the disadvantage of backward thinking! I hav no problems that she had problems with Germany but instead she could have used the time to step from her British throne of arrogance and start restructuring your primary sector industries! How long did it take to get rid of your coal mining industries. Well those un-lucrative mines existed longer than she was in power.

This mob thing could in fact me a spanish invention. When I stayed in Salamanca for some months to learn spanish I could observe this phenomenon basically every night I went out. Little spaniards at the age of around 15-16 provoke bigger and stronger university students that come to Salamance for only one semestre. Those students usually didnt react on those provokations but when they did I guess they expected a 1 on 1 punching, but then you saw around 4 to 5 of those little machos attacking this guy from all sides and even jumping against him ( no kiddin). Oh god they always beat the shit out of them. Not very heroic, I guess that is the opposite courage to that of a Torero! I had a friend from the States who called himself "Gid" (I guess stemming from Gideon). This was really a heavy weight monster and not even a group of 6 spaniards would have been strong enough to punch through his lard!
