People, we had this discussion before already. Some people like the new nights and some don't. I don't think anyone can convince the other of thinking differrent, so don't bother. It's getting old and all we can do is give our own opinion directed towards BIS and wait what they make of it.
At least, that's my point of view...
It's not a question of liking, Dwarden acknowledged the night is broken.

No. Also BIS provides no support on how to fix the lighting to post 1.60...
Hum... that's super bad news... :(
Thx for the info anyway.

I'll see what Tanoa assets bring. Maybe it's time for a new project, I'm tired of fixing old stuff ;)
One quick question: can you use Tanoa assets while they are in ebo ?
-
I'm lost: how map makers are supposed to use Tanoa assets ?
-
Thx bud, appreciate it
YOU are doing the hard work, not me ! ;)
Thx for sharing all this with the community !

ok, thx. I should be able to test it tomorrow or monday.
-
bus,
do you want us to test Athena with 1.60 or dev version (does it matter) ?
Thx !
-
A pleasant nice mission.
The vehicule didn't start so I had to do the mission alone.
Thx again for sharing !

This one illuminates pretty well.
and it does it for at least 2 hours, not few minutes.
Extending chemlight duration in Arma should be the easy part for dev.
-
@metalcraze: now I like 1.60 !
Thx, your work is just astonishing !
-
and that is why they have Dev build, to put forward all these suggestions and issues, don't see many of the ones complaining about how much the new visuals suck, were posting their issues throughout dev build either ;)
You mean QA was unable to detect that night lightning was broken, camo are shining..etc and gave their ok for 1.60 to go live ? Impressive.

Thx defunkt & roshnak.
edit: You could do what defunkt suggested above, but it would only look right for a given range of light levels. Setting the aperture to 140 will make day look okay, but night will be literally completely black.
ok, thx, so this is not the magic wand to get the best of both world (old and new visual).

we all know that 50% of the people would think they are entitled to the stuff anyway ("I already bought Arma 2") and would refuse to pay for it.
Yes, I sadly agree with you...
About the aperture: is it possible to change it outside the camera ?

However, if BI officially release Chernarus as a DLC map pack, then yes, they would have an obligation to ensure ongoing quality.
But if they did, we would have a bunch of people on here complaining about the nerve of BI charging to port forward their old maps.
I would have gladly paid a DLC at A3 launch to get all the A1 and A2 assets ported to A3 !! :)

And yeah, the improvement is massive in static scenes with lots of objects and very little action. Like, up to +40% on my end.
Like being lost in the jungle of Tanoa ! ;)
-
And whose fault is it when 3rd party maps are not adjusted?
BIS of course !! 95 % of the assets used in those maps are coming from vanilla Arma 1 and 2 contents, contents that should have been updated by BIS while doing A3.
Arma lives because of its community. Destroying the mods is not the right way to ensure its survival. Who better than them (ie BIS) can easily update all the previous contents ?
Through an incredible work of multiple people, we had A3MP, AiA and now CUP that gives us the ability to play on nearly all the previous maps. Right now, every assets has to be updated (again?). Sorry but the non shadow on A1/A2 trees are just making everything unreal.
-
Does that seem like a good compromise?
I only speak for myself but yes ! :)
-
What is the best map pack mod and why?
Community Upgrade Project - Terrains Complete
A3MP - ArmA 3 Map Pack - Additional Pack
All in Arma Terrain Pack (AiA TP)
Hopefully a great you tuber can make a comparison video :)
A3MP: out of support
AiATP: out of support
CUP Terrains: currently supported
Now you choose ! :) and no, I won't make a video on that :)

Can we have the same ingame and reference photo taken during the night while full moon ?

i.e. the mods they are now stored in your steam cache not in the folder you told it before (there is another threath somewhere where BIS_Wizard explains that)
AFAIK, this is only true for mods coming from the workshop. Some people can't activate mods downloaded and installed the old way.
-
patch on the way. we knew this would happen, just not when.
Thx for such reactivity !! :)

My Vietnam unit made a torrent mirror download for this Bravo release. https://www.mediafire.com/?o7jthnciqngfpzq
You can virus check it all you want but trust me plenty of people are downloading it and the more people the faster it goes.
Utorrent Download: http://www.utorrent.com/intl/en/
Torrent Download: https://www.mediafire.com/?o7jthnciqngfpzq
Thanks for this !! I just hope I'm not downloading porn... :)

also another odd thing is that when boats are in the water, they seem to go up and down out of the water and below the water as if there are invisible waves on a dedicated server
You mean like this (video in SMD Sahrani)?
If you find a workaround, please, share it with us ! :)

road runner, you should understand that we will come back in this thread everyday until the night lightning is fixed.
Many issues were acknowledged, like no ponds, AI driving nuts, middle range texture, AI pathfinding...Etc Some have been fixed, some are WIP (eg AI driving), some have not been touch at all (based on public communication from BI) after 3 years.
Many of those issues have woarkarounds (either by mod, script or just by clever mission making understanding the issue being faced).
Broken night is just a no go. It's breaking too many missions/scenario/gameplay style. I was not an issue last month, it was easy to detect, it should not have been sent to prod in its current implementation. No amount of "be patient" will make the "it needs to be fixed now" go. In fact, you're producing the exact opposite effect: each time you try to explain us we should accept the situation as it is, a different poster is coming to tell this is not acceptable, fueling this endless discussion that will only end when BI fixes the night.
