  1. I was confused about this also. Does the text your typing in not actually appear on screen, is it kind of like an "old skool" cheat? I was expecting a command line or some thing to appear.

    Search for a best memory handling

    I have 2 PCs. 1st is AMD3500+@2.5ghz, 7800gs256mb, 2gb of system ram. I don't use any maxmem commands. Works fine, never have any mem issues. 2nd PC is AMD 2400+@2.0ghz, 6800LE 128mb ram. 512mb system ram. On this PC I have to use -maxmem=512 or the game is unplayable (constant paging, textures taking forever to load). However, Maxmem=512 only works for about an hour or so of Evolution then it becomes too slow with constant paging. I intend to get more ram for PC 2, but I figured I let you know what its like anyway with just 512mb.

    Arma feedback thread - based on 1.09

    nice patch, my frame rate is up. But annoyingly my FPS can still drop from 35 to 11 just by "scoping" some grass patches and some trees.

  8. I just tried this and I'm impressed. I took a run around Bagango area with a sniper rifle and my frame rate is up by a lot, even when scoped. It actually doesn't look half bad either. As someone else mentioned the foliage seems much "fuller". I think with Res vegetation it will nice. I was wondering about the grass though. When running around Bagango with my rifle I did get a few "laggy" spots and I think it was the grass, at certain places when I Scoped the grass my fps dipped well low. I hadnt thought the grass made as big an impact on scopes, etc as the bushes. Any way to make a lower res version or some thing, like the ofp bushes? cheers & keep up the good work

    Sweet tank addon, thanks. I have been having battles, 4 T64 vs 4 M60 . I am finding that the AI dont seem to be able to hit other tanks very well with apdfs from any range, close or far. Other ordinance they seem fine with.

    What kind of Mouse do you use with Arma

    anyone else with a microsoft wireless laser mouse 6000? I find its sucks ass. Cant tell whether its the laser or the wireless. it has a very high res but is really imprecise. Some games are worse than others. Arma aint too bad but OFP is pretty bad and BF2 is also.

    Delayed Air/Armour Kills = No Points

    this happened in OFP too, so I guess I'm kind of used to it. Unless the chopper explodes in mid air you get no "kill", the ground gets it It doesnt really bother me, you have to look at the big picture, its another chopper down, don't worry about points.

    Its probably to do with that whole limitation in some game engines of having a free moving player on what is essentially a moving vehicle.

    One interesting possibly unknown feature I have discovered is with the Player Score board. I notice that when a player uses the in game VOIP their name flashes on the list. Very handy for knowing who the heck is speaking. But the obvious major draw back with this is that you can only see the top 10 (iIrc) players on the server. Is there any way to see the full Score list for every player? This feature would be very useful if we could.

    I just tried playing evolution (got the same message) and all the weapons where messed up. I have access to weapons i shouldnt be able to use do i leave your edited weapons.pbo in arma/addons or should i put that back to the original for this mod folder version? which is what I have done the problem might solve if you use the config base one, it doesnt required to have modded weapon.pbo and such False alarm, I think it was because the mission was restarted as I was joining or something, just a random Arma error. Any way, its working fine now, so thanks again for the updates, sounds sweet as ever

    stupid ladder glitch

    yeah noticed that, kind of funny looking. not really worth spending time to fix. Makes me wonder though, if you where playing online and you where inside a building on the upper floor, could an enemy (human) detect your presence by ghostly footsteps appearing on the ground floor? @ Ti0n3r

    stupid ladder glitch

    I found a fix to this stuck-on-ladder bug. When you get to the top, go back down a couple of rungs then select "Drop Ladder". You wont actually drop down the ladder, he gets off at the top. hope this helps, till next patch

    Yeah, I think thats the great thing about this mod, its designed to sound good in battle and not just standing some where on your own with all the weapons crates popping off rounds, which is exactly what I also did to test it out . But later I played some Evo' with headphones on and it really is quite amazing. Explosions are probably my favorite, so much better than default. Good work Chammy and thanks for letting us beta test

    Id like to see some new units like vehicles/guns, not just new skins and slightly modified current vehicles.

    My thinking may be limited but how do you want to implement such ? Shader is applied globally and to my knowledge there is no way to exclude special objects from global shader settings as it´s applied to every rendered object. What you´re asking for is not doable or would look very strange in the rendered scene as the objects that are excluded from regular shader settings would not blend with the environment rendered with different shader. If I understand it right, first the DX scene is rendered and shaders are applied to the scene as a whole afterwards. If you exclude objects from shaders (not even doable with other 3d engines) the result would look very botched. Yes, I was wondering about this and in another thread I made on this subject I speculated the possibility that Shader effects might be like AA in that it applies it globally to the scene, but the general consensus from other posters was that it could be applied to individual objects. I'm curious to know if its global or can be applied separately.

    Yes, but as he already said, several times, the ground textures go to crap when you put "Shading Detail" to a level where bushes no longer cause lag on zoom. We just need to be able to set the shading detail for Foliage and everything else separately.

    Shaders

    I was wondering. We all know how when you look through a scope/tank optics at certain bushes/foliage you get a considerable drop in frame rate. When I turn Shading detail to "Very Low" this drop is not noticeable at all. But, turning the shading detail this low makes the ground textures ahead of you look terrible and also removes the nice sun "glint" from vehicles etc. Both of these things do not impact my frame rate at all, just the dang flora. So my question is, would it be possible to have a separate Shading option for foliage and one for everything else? Or do shaders work like AA, in that you cant adjust it for certain objects, it just effects everything? Anyway I believe such an option/ community mod would improve the game considerably for a lot of players.

    So it is possible. Could any developer let us know if this realistic for a future patch, or would it be too time consuming to implement? I wish I had made this a simple Yes/No poll to see how many people would be interested in this option. I have a feeling it would be quite a few..
