  1. I installed 1.14. I have no problems yet, but since I've installed and uninstalled many mods and the beta patches, I'd like to make sure that my installation is clean. This could be useful for anyone having problems, too. I've got the Sprocket version, and here's what I have, excluding readme files, mission folders, and the like. Main folder arma.exe arma.locked ArmA.sw2 arma_server.exe ifc22.dll ijl15.dll UnInstall.csv UnInstall.exe AddOns folder (all files have a bi.bisign file with them) a10.pbo air3.pbo air.pbo animals.pbo Anims.pbo buildings.pbo Ca.pbo characters.pbo cti_buildings.pbo desert.pbo hotfix.pbo (should this be here?) IntroAnims.pbo language.pbo misc.pbo missions.pbo plants.pbo roads.pbo rocks.pbo sara.pbo saralite.pbo signs.pbo sounds.pbo tracked.pbo ui.pbo UIFonts.pbo usmcd.pbo voice.pbo warfare.pbo water.pbo weapons3.pbo weapons.pbo wheeled3.pbo wheeled.pbo I also had Extended_Eventhandlers.pbo, but I think I downloaded it before. Anyone get it from the patch? BattlEye folder BEClient.dll BEServer.dll UninstallBE.csv UninstallBE.exe UnInstallBE.log Dta folder bin.pbo and signature file core.pbo and signature file product.bin Keys folder bi.bikey I've also got a "Laza" folder, not sure what that is. I'll post the contents if anyone wants. Can anyone compare this against their clean installation? Thank you.

    Death during cutscene

In "Blood, Sweat, and Tears", after clearing the town there was a cutscene with the spec ops guy talking to the infantry guy. "Good work, heading to the east?" "Yes sir. But we've still got some work to AUUUGHHH!" Suddenly the infantry guy goes down from a grenade. Scared the crap out of me, but I thought it was intentional at first. Then I notice there's a stray SLA soldier in the background, running around during the cutscene tossing grenades. He proceeds to take out one of the M113s as all the troops are loading before he's finally noticed and killed. When the cutscene ended, I immediately got the "mission failed" notice, but it was funny anyway.

    Sprocket Troubleshooting thread.

EDIT: Verified checksum I was unsure about the integrity of my download so I asked IDEA games for the correct MD5 checksum of the 1.08 Sprocket download. It's: 534c03f0bed3301552af91ff75692fa6 You can check with: http://www.pc-tools.net/win32/md5sums/

    Modding Questions

Ukraineboy, where did you hear this? Ikavadas, I don't know the answers to your questions but unfortunately I doubt a developer will answer them here. However, I loved the Mechwarrior games and I'm looking forward to your mod! It would be cool to finally have a mechwarrior game where you can fight infantry.

    Latest screenshots available

Armed Assault's graphics are great. In fact, I probably won't be able to run it at full detail. It's irritating that everyone seems to think that Crysis is "normal" now; it's the exception, not the rule. IMO, Armed Assault looks just as good as recent heavy hitters like Doom 3 and Half-Life 2.

    The Middle East part 2

I really think Israel has blown it here. Although this big offensive is probably cathartic, I think it's an indulgence that will come back to bite Israel hard. Even if Israel were to completely decimate its enemies into submission, which won't happen, the Muslims in the area would still hate Israel and would still make it their lives' goal to destroy it the first chance they had. Currently (maybe always), every nation seems to have one strategy towards dealing with nations they perceive as threats: force them to do what they're told. I really don't think this is the best approach. Nobody will like you if you impose your will, no matter how overwhelming your military is. And when people don't like each other, there is the source of trouble. It's too late now, but I think Israel best option to win hearts and minds would have been to turn the other cheek and officially halt retaliatory strikes. Open diplomatic talks without demanding things or issuing ultimatums. Show a little humility. World opinion would shift towards Israel if Palestinians and other groups continued unprovoked attacks. Unfortunately, as long as everyone's strategy is "attack the enemy until their will is broken" (note: never happens) there will be fighting.

Looks pretty good, although I'd call that footage anything but "shaky," looks more like it's mounted to the vehicle. P.S. Is that a collision at 11 seconds? Who's driving that thing?

Football World Cup 2006 in Germany

Could the referee have just realized or been told that a red card should have been given to Simunic so he held up the yellow card again before giving the red card to show that that's how Simunic got the red card?

Damn... every match today went the way I didn't want it to go. Bye-bye U.S., Czech Republic, Japan, and Croatia.

    ArmA Progress Updates

As I said in another thread, I actually think the character-switching could be a good sign for the AI, rather than a bad sign. If the AI takes over for any position not played by the player, the AI should be sophisticated enough to have a chance at completing any of those roles. In Operation Flashpoint, if you edit BIS missions to have the AI fill the player's role, even at maximum skill level it will almost always fail the mission. Hopefully this has changed.

    AIs behaviour/improvement

Something that gives me some hope for the AI is the character-switching mechanism. If missions can successfully be completed from any of multiple perspectives with the AI controlling any perspectives not chosen, that AI will have to be fairly powerful, since it will be filling the role of a player.

    Word on Russian/Soviet side?

You know, this is an interesting topic. We want interesting units and a formidable enemy for our war games, but if they are going to be realistic, there really is no one able to stand up to the U.S., as far as I know. It can get a little touchy when we're talking about modern warfare. In real life, I wish more of the United States' money was spent on things other than the military, and wars are horrible things. Yet, some immature part of me wants Russia or China or some other somewhat unfriendly nation (politically, I've got nothing against Russians or Chinese) to develop new weapons so we can have some good "East" weapons for Armed Assault. Maybe this is why so many war games are WW2 or entirely fictional?
