Awesome! Can't wait to get a chance to play it. I always followed PRACS back when i played ARMA2 a lot, but stopped playing before it was released. Glad to see i can finally catch up.

Are there any mirrors for this? Armaholic doesn't seem to want to work, and the PRACS website gives me a broken link. Thanks in advance anyone.

Asymmetric Warfare Components
*actionhank* replied to DetCord's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
I don't often post (As may be evident by my join date and low post-count) but i just thought i would jump on and say that i hope this mod comes to completion. It looks amazing. I've always wanted to simulate IEDs since they are such a common occurrence on the battlefield these days, but scripting just goes over my head (Granted i haven't read too much into it. But for the time being i know how to change load outs...and next i plan to learn how to put things on roof tops). That being said your approach looks much more user friendly, and frankly like a lot of fun in game. Good luck to you. That last video looked amazing by the way. I would love to be in an MP game and be tasked with guarding the IED removal team, radioing back and forth trying to figure out how much time they need, and how long you can hold out. -
Rocket attack down a road.
*actionhank* posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
Hey everyone. I haven't been able to track down a good tutorial or link for this (I could possibly be searching in all the wrong places.) Anyhow, i want to make a mission where you are heading into a village to attack and push out the insurgents. I want to have you start the mission with some light armor support on the road ahead of you, and then have 2 Su-25's come down the road and fire rockets for a stretch and take out the tanks, and some of your other soldiers. I just can't figure out how to get the Su-25 to fly along the path and fire rockets down the length of the road. Any ideas or tutorials? Thanks in advance guys! -
Reminds me of the BAS Tonal mod! i think i'm going to have get this!

Wld427 i love this mod! It's great to see that the RACS units have been made a bit more realistic. I found it a bit hard to believe they were sporting the newest in German rifles in the original game. Also, i've got a soft spot for the G3 so that's even better. I can't wait for the rest of your infantry to be released, and the M1113's look amazing from what i've seen so far. Keep up the great work!

This add on gets better and better with every passing day! Great work guys! Anyone know if it will be possible to adjust hand positioning? in OFP it killed me to see guys holding weapons through the mags, and through the rifle stock, anyone know about being able to change that in the near future? That was always one of my worries. Anyways, great work! I'm downloading now!

I'd love to have the Twin engined Huey the marines use, and the Sea Knight too! Those would both be great add ons!

Random deviance of bullets
*actionhank* replied to pokletu's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Are you using single shot? It shouldn't be too hard to put a guy down, and it really shouldn't take a whole clip to do it. Try seeing where your aim is, and where the bullets are really hitting by shooting something and adjusting your aim accordingly. -
Need help finding the blackhawk skin!
*actionhank* posted a topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
So, i wanted to give skinning a go, but i'm wondering where the files are at. I'm interested in the Blackhawk's skin files mainly. I want to create a Sahrani Blackhawk so they have something that matches their army while looking good. Plus, i figure a blackhawk in tan (And maybe a camo version, we'll have to wait and see) would be nice until the add on tools get released and someone can give them a more appropriate chopper. Any help would be appreciated. Also, what do i need to unpack, and repack the files? Thanks guys! -
Need help finding the blackhawk skin!

What do i use to open the .paa file? -
So, i need to get Arma still, but i wanted to start skinning in the game. I was thinking of making a ficticious skin for the RACS men. I think it would be nice to have the Sarani soldiers with their own camo, so i was wondering what you need to get started skinning in the game. I have a bit of knowledge of skinning, but that's mostly from the Il-2 Series of games. So, any help would be nice. I've got photoshop, and was just curious what it would take to get a start into it. Thanks guys!

Video looked amazing! I've never seen Chinook's look so graceful. And i loved the hard landings. It gives it that get in, and get the hell out feeling. Not like the usual "hover around for 20 minutes, see how much AAA we can soak up, and if still flying, set down 300 feet away from everyone"

VBS2 Compared to ArmA. What Mods can do
*actionhank* posted a topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Ok, i'm not sure if this should go in here, or general discussion, but i'll place it here just because it's more mod oriented. (Mods, move it if this is the wrong place, and i apologize if it is) I watched the VBS2 video, and it made me wonder. What does VBS2 have save for the AAR and other things like that, that we can't have in Armed Assault? The Add On makers here are just as good at making models, so that doesn't seem to be a problem, so i'm just curious what VBS2 has that Arma doesn't. I was wondering about the multiple gunners thing, and if that's been fixed yet. I saw the video and it had the commander and gunner both turned out firing their mounted machine guns which i thought would be a nice feature. I'm just curious, so please don't flame me for it. I can remember just getting OFP after it came out, and over the course of time Mods turned it into something amazing. I don't doubt that the same will happen here, seeing as it already is, and from what i've gathered it's all without the use of the SDK. Is there a way to get artillery and other things like that, without the use of scripting? (I admit this was one thing i never could figure out in the original, but always intererested me) So, enlighten me. I know we've got a bunch of really good modders around here, and likely more will pop up. I can't wait to see what RHS and the other's can do with Arma. Just imagine a nice FDF pack for this game. It would be awesome! Thanks for the input guys! -

VBS2 Compared to ArmA. What Mods can do
*actionhank* replied to *actionhank*'s topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
I'm sure everyone around here could go on for days with mod teams they'd love to come back. I would love BAS to do some Arma work! Tonal made with Arma in mind could be amazing! I can remeber playing Tonal's map driving a Bradley into the town taking fire from all the Rebels. Good times. What about ricochet, does Arma have that in it? The Machine gun's ricochet in the video did look pretty good. -
VBS2 Compared to ArmA. What Mods can do
*actionhank* replied to *actionhank*'s topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
to your casual game like 99% of the people on this forum, you won't know the difference between VBS2 and ArmA - 90% of the features exist in both, and the features that omfg l33t haxor bis stole away from the community (please sense that I'm mocking those on this forum who insist on claiming such things) are hardly spell binding - they're kinda cool, sure, and some could be vaguely useful - but hell, I'm kind of grateful that mine costs £30 and not $1500... That's a good point. I was more curious what things could be implimented. Does anyone know about artillery, atleast one that doesn't require scripting? -
VBS2 Compared to ArmA. What Mods can do
*actionhank* replied to *actionhank*'s topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
I really don't want this to be an off topic parade. And the obvious statements aren't contributing much. I was just curious what modders thought that they could achieve when compared to VBS2. Because from looking at the videos, VBS2 sure looks good, but it doesn't seem like anything our community of modders can't pull out. (I'll admit, i'd kill for a model of the CH-53, the Moder Huey, and the Sea Knight that VBS has) but models aren't really the problem. The community's show that it's more than capable of bringing the goods, hell just look at the Mi-24. If i remember that's from OFP, and it looks right at home in Arma from what i've seen in screenshots. So guys, please try and keep it serious, at the very least, semi-serious. -
To the people who are playing ArmA, how is it?
*actionhank* replied to evilnate's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
As i've discovered things i've liked it more. I found out that on the coop maps, there are hummers. So, i've gotten my squads into the hummers and driven through the town to the back. (Now i know how the guys in black hawk down must have felt, fire coming from every direction, men getting taken out before you can even get to your destination. It gets intense) But, there's still just a handful of bugs that drive me nuts. And the AI just has the tendancy to have everyone marksman qualified with an AK-47 out to 1000 yards. Also, i have yet to get to the zooming in, since where i intend to zoom, and where i end up looking are rarely the same place. -

*actionhank* replied to evilnate's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
ok, i've just played the demo (not the full game, so this is to be taken salt in hand) and it seems that the AI still has that uncanny ability to hit you no matter what the circumstance. I've tried hiding in brush, behind bushes, no luck. I still get picked off. I figured i'd throw out some smoke to cover my squad, and as soon as the smoke was out, i was still getting hit with rounds in the smoke. Other than that, the game seems good. I haven't experienced the full game, but i intend to buy it. Sadly the demo hasn't given me that full blown "I MUST OWN THIS!" feeling. It still has a few quirks that bug the hell out of me, but then again hopefully it will be supported by BIS and updated. -
anybody up for making a merkava 4?
*actionhank* replied to DieAngel's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
"This is the most weirdest thing i ever heard dude, a tank that can't be transported (except from the German 'Maus"). " I'm sure they could transport the Maus! So long as they had two trucks running side by side perfectly syncronized! -
Do they actually fight in the Berets? I always thought it odd that add ons had berets they would fight in. I'd want a helmet.
-
Well, that's better than nothing! Thanks for the info! Maybe someday they can use the physics engine to take over in place of the animations.
-
Can anyone comment on the death animations? If they're new or not. I was just curious, i'd kind of like to see them impliment a type of havok physics thing for death animations. Looks better than the old OFP "die in this way" animations. Especially the ones when you'd kill a guy proned out, and it would look like he'd get hit and then decide to lay down his gun and nap.

Otokar Cobra Series

That's cool. I always wondered, do the Hellenic Air Force and Greek Air Force still do their little mock intercepts of each other? I remember reading about them somewhere!
