After the Vista-32 Service Pack, and installing the above hotfix, and patching to 1.8, (and a "fiddle" with the Nvidia Control Panel to customise the graphics options for Arma) I found that the game had stablised completely, for the first time since 1.4. No CTD's, dodgy graphical glitches or lag. Huzzar!

I've just installed the beta version 101.41_forceware_winvista_32bit_international drivers for my 7900GS and the performance is way superior to what it was. No more problems with having shadows on high. Go look for a 64 bit version. You might want to try this link.

There is something called MicroDem which is free. There is a plugin (from the Royal College of London I think) that goes with Google Earth and allows you to make heightmaps after a bit of tinkering. I think the whole thing was designed by the US military. Anyhow, I found the details on what to do and how to get it on this forum here. Have a go, it creates some truly awesome heightmaps with absurdly good detail.

The new Tonal is really great. The old one was my favourite mod, and this is better. Great work. And I'll remember to watch for case sensitive letters in my shortcuts in future.

Problem Solved. I didn't realise that the -mod@Tonalredux had to be Case Sensitive --- hence -mod@tonalredux not working. Thanks anyhow, chaps.

Yep, that's what I did. But when it creates the mod folder inside it is the Addons folder, the Campaign folder, the DTA folder but no BIN folder - where the config.cfg should go. I wiped my previous version of Tonal before installing the new one. Was this a mistake?

Exactly, it doesn't work in a mod folder. My download has no "bin" directory or config.cfg. It does work if I throw it straight in my RES folder, but it still calls a few addon errors with the galils.

Is it just me or is there no CONFIG.CFG file?

I've had that on my desktop for months with no problems - and it only got flagged as containing a trojan on the last AVG update (7th August 06). Read into that what you will. However, after deleting it the language changes to Visitor remained in English ---- which is nice.
