PC Discussion Thread - All PC related in here.

Does anyone have a 8800GT for ArmA? I'm getting my gamingcomputer some time into the new year, so I've configured it with 8800GT. The GFX is following: XFX GeForce 8800GT 512MB XXX 2XDVI DDR3 PCI-E Accompanied with an Asus P5K (P35), Q6600, 4GB PC2-6400 RAM and a Silverstone 600W SLI-Certified PSU (good amps, but is 600W enough?). Thanks for answers (and input on the rest of the system).

    The Iraq thread 4

Ah, the beauty of the US is their belief of always being the best. Even when comparing each other. Now that's civilized! I see a soldier as a guy who carry a gun and shoot people if his mission demands it (which can be taken to a far extent of what the mission is, so don't bother). So in my eyes, a Soldier (note large S) and a Marine are both soldiers (note small s),but there is the same kind of difference between a chef and a waitor, as a soldier and a marine. Just depends on how we see it. Also, keep in mind, Baddo is from Finland, and not a overproud immigrant serving for a country not really his (no offence), so he might not know of the difference. Seemingly you do, and why not, you are a marine, not a soldier, right? Not meaning to trash you or anything, or trash any US citizen, but I think the whole "I aint no soldier, I'm a Marine" thingie is just ridiculous. And before you say anything, I know that Marines go through more extensive training, and have higher demands on both mental and physical strenght, as well as education, but from the bottom down, you are still two humans, carrying guns and shooting people in what you are believing is good. Again, I am not trashing this, I have a very one-sided view on many conflicts, in where I belive that war is the only solution. So I am not saying "Peace in the world/USA is the root of all evil"-bla bla bla and so on, but, again, the difference between a soldier and a marine is to small for me to make any difference. Even so, I do call a marine; "marine", and a soldier; "soldier". It's just a matter of pride. What is the difference between a suicide bomber, who's killing for what he believes is right and what he belives he is protecting, to you, who stands and say: "Shut up, you fool, I'm no soldier. I am a marine!"? Can't agree more with that.

Pavlov's Dog (the Future of VBS/Arma?)

Lol, indeed, looks like two backends of a horse/donkey-suit put together!
  9. I played around with it, got a pretty good effect. I'm not gonna post it since it was the_shadow's picture...

Pavlov's Dog (the Future of VBS/Arma?)

Indeed. And also: He kicked it? That was a nudge, if he would have kicked it, it would probably have fallen over. For reference, a good fighter can kick with a force of about 10kN, a normal person could probably do about 2.5-5kN depending on what technique they're using. (Some doesn't train martial arts, but watch movies... )
  11. You really caught the effect of a movie in that picture, looks awsome compared to the first one. The one of the tank was very good too, but I think the first one was a bit to dark. Regards

Get a WYSIWYG program. My favourite is DreamWeaver, but it costs alot for personal users (about 400 dollars depending on where you buy it from), but it's a great WYSIWYG editor.

Airsoft & Paintball and those in between.

@Iron+Cross: As you failed to understand even one of my points, I shall rest the discussion. I still think airsoft beats paintball

Airsoft & Paintball and those in between.

@Iron+Cross: Why aren't you just trying to share this thread with airsofters, I mean, we don't call you gay, say that you are a weak pussy since you "can't take the pain of airsoft". I mean, who are you to judge anyone of us, seeing as you don't know anyone. Maybe I am a real life military that has served in really harsh conflicts, and now I want to play with people to get good recreation, maybe get some fun out of it. Or maybe I'm just an airsoft lover. But the bottom-line is, I haven't seen any of the airsofters here calling you gay/pussy and so on, where as you (with every reply) has done the same to us. Why don't you just try to make a more calm and civilized discussion about a serious topic if you really want to sort out which of airsoft and paintball is the best, instead of saying: "Paintball rules, airsoft is for pussies!!!!" P.S. You broke the first rule Anyways, end of rant, back on topic: Has anyone converted an AEG to operate with gas (either CO2 or standard airsoft-gas)? In that case, does the auto work, or are you making it semi (sniper mostly). And also, what specs do you get (ie, is the speed, accuracy, sound and so on)?

    Man Dies playing Internet Game

Wasn't this (or an alike event) like a year ago? Where the Chinese guy died from dehydration. Afaik, he's in the Guiness Book of world records, where his death and also the virtual funeral (visited by around 50 people) is mentioned.

Indeed, you were a rusky, that explains the fun But the ally commander wasn't to pleased with it, and apparantly, the staff wasn't as good as they should have been. Maybe 1200ppl is water over there head. Here's Berget 5 official forum, and the rest of the forum is concerning the rest of Berget Events, such as Berget 6 and other events. Regards

Airsoft & Paintball and those in between.

Berget (5) costs are: TICKET 550 SEK FOOD 250 SEK ARMBAND 30 SEK RADIO 350 SEK TRANSPORT 1 (AIRPORT) 200 SEK TRANSPORT 2 (HÄRNÖSAND) 100 SEK BERGET5 T-SHIRT 100 SEK The ticket is the only one that is required, rest is up to you. Although, this time, Berget was made up, the east side were supposed to win, so the west (allied forces) weren't even allowed to do certain assaults and set up defensepostions, since that wouldn't lead to victory for the east. Also some fysical abuse of POWs had supposadly happen, nothing I can confirm though. The worst thing was that one of the east guys died, since he had a faint heart. His doctor had warned him not to go, but he did, and very sadly died. Although, he died doing what he loved. RIP to him! I will be there in 2 years methink as a MP, or maybe allie. dependant on the scenario. Many said it was worth it, but many on west/allied side were unfortnately left with a bad experience of Berget, so we can hope it's better next time. Regards PS. That's a proper airsoftgirl DS

Oh yes indeed. Airsoft needs no skill at all, just point somewhere and shoot, and it hits! That's why it's so boring!! OMG, I can't understand I haven't realised this earlier!!! Thanks for clearing this up dude!

Read, then post. Aight? Anyways, to Iron+Cross: Pussysofters? What kinda' word is that? And not that your post made sense, but I'm sure you meant something farely intelligent. Just as I did And also, a few MilSim airsofters I know go to biggames perhaps 5-10 times a year around europe and sometimes even goes to the US for games. So, once in 3-6 years? Naaah. You got no clue what you're talking about. And stop the airsofters are all idiot-bashing, we're not bashing paintball, we're mostly making the arguments of airsofts being more MilSim, more accurate and cheaper (well, atleast the ammo). And if you want pain (seeing as airsoft is to pussy for you), I guess you could meet up with airsoft snipers who have 600fps rifles with .34g alu-bullets, and take a point-blank

Airsoft & Paintball and those in between.

Could you stop making this thread into a "paintball is better then airsoft"-thread? It really sucks. And I mean, you just repeat your stands, and post randomly. The difference between paintball and airsoft is huge, so don't even start comparing those 2. Although, if we still are comparing, I haven't seen any 1200 people, 4 day paintball MilSim re-enactment game. If you know of any, please link me

Wind Turbines For or against & why?

Indeed it is expensive (and hard to get the right typ of uranium), and indeed, it isn't renewable, but I saw a newscoverage of french scientist who came up with a solution so that they store the rods of uranium in some kind of bath (probably not just plain water) and can reuse them 1 more time after approx 5 years, leading to even more efficiency of todays nuclear powerplants. Now we just need to sort out how to store it properly when we need to store it, and make safety of powerplants even better. Although, I am not for neither water or windturbines, since they can destroy habitats and routes for fish. In sweden we have alot of problems getting the salomon to move upstreams to mate, since there are waterturbines in the way, and the so called salomon-stairs they have made so salomons can jump up the damm and come out on the other side doesn't work as good as it should do. Windturbines also mess up with the route some birds fly when they go to the southern hemisphere during winters, or when they are returning, meaning we can loose large part of (or whole) spieces (sp?) of birds. But, then again. If a nuclear plant blows, we're basiclly doomed

I've had a Scaleo 600. It was bought by the family somewhere 5 years ago or so. IIRC, it had a 1.2Ghz Celeron and 128mb SDRAM, so no DDR ram at all, it was SDRAM. Maybe your model is newer though
