Been away for a while. So did Bohemia have said anything considering this topic lately?
-
how many of you would like to see a "Crash and retrieval" game mode? I'm working on something that's involve UFOs, Aliens and hazmat suit. pvp.

I honestly never understood why the ArmA series lacked official servers. To the guy saying that they need studios overseas.. that's so wrong. There's many crappy games out there with low budgets which offer they own public hosted servers. And don't tell me they BIS lack the money. seems like some of you aren't aware that they're a service provider to the almighty UNCLE SAM!! for Christ sake. VBS generate them a lot more profit then arma and i sometime wonder where and how game developers invest their money.
PS** not ranting on BIS, they're great but need to expend.

And the original OFP it took over a year (almost two years I think) of people hex-editing and hacking the crap out of the P3D file format and using tools like P3D2OBJ and OBJ2P3D to edit existing models (no new models allowed, the edits had to contain the exact same number of vertices etc as the "original model"). Those were the days...Well if this is the case, i guess we can all say that the original serie wasn't really made with mods in mind? Considering the fact that it became one of it's selling and recognition point later in time. I myself bought the original OFP a few days after it release and only came to realization that there were mods for it a few years later. i didn't have Internet in those days but i guess i didn't miss much from the moment of discovering that haha.
Oh well, I'm now confident in saying that the modding community is what really made this company stand out and last long in this industry and this genre sector, pretty much untouched.

And then there are the payware addons from 'reputable' studios that use ripped off content- even models from Bohemia interactive. Once you inject money into the equation, bullshit like this is amplified. It's funny how the turns of event came to be. I rememberer commenting on my willingness to charge people for addon's few months ago. Didn't took long before Fufu and you came up at me lol. Not taking this as offensive tho, just pointing it as funny that everything went south so suddenly. So what is your general take on this? are you ok with it or it's kinda bother you in a way?
-
BIS is going to be looking into a paid community content scheme, this straight from Marek, and that will be enough, I think. Possibly even too much. Can you please provide the link to that thread? No long ago a moderator warned me of my desire to wanting people to pay for quality addons. He said that would be against the EULA from the BIS tool. Are you saying that this is actually about to change?
-
Alright thanks for the insight. One last question, do you remember how long it took them to release the tools on the previous installment?
I guess I should follow the advice of the experienced by going ahead with practicing with the current tools.

Most of you guys have no idea how game design works, yet you know everything about performance and ideal spec or how the game designer should "upgrades" they codes in order to make things work out.. why don't you enroll in game architecture then? plenty of money to be made if you know it all..
-
there's also other helmets missing texture (painted, special forces, black etc..). there's missing suits and vests textures as well.. and misplaced name for gears.. there's supposed to be balaclavas and all but no where to be found. but somehow it's shows in the inventory. i was kinda disappointed about that because they said the we're refurbishing the game in the few weeks before release, adding texture and etc..

hope they'll appear in the next DEv update tho
-
yeah, they did a great job replicating the solar panel..
Hey OP do you think you'll be able to post real life and in-game pictures comparison? next time you go there?
-
you can carry up to 4 weapons, just rack em' up in your back pack ;)..
Unless they fixed that one lol.
-
just download the virtual AmmoBox script. that's what most mission designer use in multiplayer to let people get everything that the game has to offer. it works on the editor so go look for it.
-
I think most people playing the game would go on their way to digitally abuse those creatures from Heaven.. most probably in arma life mode? there's disturbing pics from A2 where u see em' in the crouch position in-front of servicemen..especially those pilots and marines..-_-

Isn't it supposed to be somehow like the current dev version with few fixes and extra gears, clothing and the like? I mean they've already released altis and all the vehicles with few fixes. I was under the impression that the release will mostly only bring fixes and the apparition of all the missing gears and texture...no more no less.
-
They had to change the story in a short notice so it's obviously kinda confusing lol. Also another reason why we won't see campaign at release, because of all of the changes. There were even supposed to be CIA in earlier DEV interview but i guess they scrapped that one too. The Greek gov really screwed them bad.
-
Any info on official BIS servers? what game modes and max capacity a single server has like in domination.. What was the maximum they could carry in A2 anyways?
-
Im putting all my hope in ACE3It's gonna be a while before ACE3 comes out of it hole...
-
Depends what you are making tbh, like I've found that using the ARMA2:OA tools I've had no issues creating a full compatible (as far as I'm aware anyway lol) infantry mod (created mainly in modo). I;d imagine it's similar for vehicles if you have the right references for models.I'd imagine the biggest difference would be for world builders but I've have literally no experience with that so cant really comment.
I want my first project to be a crown vic lol. There's already some for A2 but I want a brand new one for A3 with believable texture and correct shading. I'll probably go for an unmarked cruiser, will save me time from police marking design. I'll make that and a Tahoe. But I want those to be exclusively used only for Nato military police or air base patrol, would make more sense. There's plenty of references out there for those tow so shouldn't be that hard.
When I actually get those done, I'll go for more accurate Greek cruisers, complete with a variety of authentic police officers model and gear. Law enforcement isn't gonna be my focus tho. I mainly want to focus on special forces and helicopters :)
Like I said, I'm a total noob with no experience. There's a huge learning curve up ahead and what I just said here ain't to be expected anytime soon. I was just looking for reconfort in knowing the tool needed for my vague imagination were somehow already on the table. Seems like not but it's ok.
-
Great job sir. I've an indefinite love for helicopters, meaning I appreciate all of em' and every time I see a super models like this one making they way into my favorite war game serie... it definitely get some appreciation from me. So well done.
I'm planning on getting into modding and I was thinking of going for another of them sikorsky cousins. The MH-53J Pave Low IIIE.. if I actually get into it, do you think i can ask for your help when needed?
-
No..not yet.Every non-BI's model you see here is created with this version build for ArmA2
You can start practicing on those until the new tools will be available.
I don't believe you will see much difference.
Do you know what's they latest word regarding that? If this is the case, I'd rather wait then and just practice modeling with maya and 3d max.
-
If you want to get into modding in order to monetize your addons, you can forget about it, since it is against BI tools EULA....Nah that wouldn't be the prime reason I'll get into it. I was only assuming if the quality of my addons were somehow superior to devs own products. But until BI wouldn't charge people for additional content. I think the rules would make sense even though they'll probably still apply even if they decide to go the other way.
-
You're totally right on that sir. I ain't no modder but certainly not a hard thing understanding all the complications involved. And to be honest with you, I think if was into moding (something I'm planning to get myself into)and really good at it... I'll certainly not let ignorant profiteers gets their hands on my work for free. They'll have to pay to get to play with em toys. But that would only be for something that's an AAA piece of digital art and renowned by the community in a way.
-
Good job.

Do you think that you'll be capable of modeling embassies in the future? That would be cool alongside a few 7eleven and Walmart!
Bohemia SDK out yet?
