the troops are from Bibmi's rather excellent UK paratroopers addon (available from www.ofpeditingcenter.com). they do look very, very good with the SA80. if the guy has just vanished i might just upload the thing and put a note in the readme saying who actually did the work. Dave

Here is a pic in case anyone is interested.

I've done a version of GFX's SA80 with redone ammo, the SUSAT from Maddogs SA80, and a few other little changes .. but can't get hold of maddog (or mollusc, who did the sight) to ask permission to use it. anyone know if either of them are still about? Dave

A total of 6 Tornado GR1s were lost in action in the Gulf, 5 of which were involved in loft-medium level attacks with 1,000lb bombs, and only one tasked on a low level JP233 mission (out of 100 sorties with the weapon), which was lost some three minutes after the attack was completed. When will bis release oxygen for the gen. public?
vade_101 replied to nik's topic in ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Correct me if i'm wrong but there has got to be a big difference between realeasing a utility that lets you create/import/animate 3d models (Oxygen) into the game and a full SDK/Source code realase. The .cpp system is already flexible enough allow most variations of addon that people could want without anyone needing to go messing with the engine code. I guess from reading posts around that Oxygen is probably sufficently complex to deter the more faint hearted types anyways so there is maybe less chance of seeing 200 variations on the m16 and a variety of BFG9000 type superweapons (or i hope so at any rate) The value of VBS is probably not in the prettier graphics and nicer animation (as good as it looks), but the quality of the AI and the generally increased realism of a military level tactical training aid. although you have got to be hopeful that BIS are learning lots from the experience that can be ported across when it does come time for OFP2 :-) -
I think i put it in between cfgpatches and cfgweapons, if you are still having probs let me know and i'll mail you the fixed zip Dave
-
you don't need to delete anything, it just inserts into the .cpp
-
you only need the fix if you are using resistance, with the new version it makes the models appear with the muzzle flash on all the time (because the game treats it like a static model and doesnt animate it). if you are using version 1.47 or less, you dont need it.
-
you need to extract the config.cpp file from the .pbo file (you can get a tool to do so from www.ofpeditingcenter.com) and insert the fix and then recompile it. or i could just send you a fixed version if you like. Dave

the weapons: otwM240MG: M240 MAG (or L7 GMPG if you are a brit ;-)) otwM249MG: M249 SAW otwM249paraMG: m249 PARA otwM249pipMG: M249 PIP ammo: otwM240Mag: M240 MAG Magazine otwM249Mag: M249 SAW/PARA/PIP Magazine

if anyone needs it, this is the code fix that goes in the config.cpp to remove the muzzleflash bug. </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE"> //CfgModels definitions class CfgModels { class Default{}; class Weapon: Default{}; class M249: Weapon{}; class m240MG: Weapon{}; class M249para: Weapon{}; class M249pip: Weapon{}; };<span id='postcolor'>

I think that the critisisms that Vietnam isn't a suitable conflict for OFP do have some merit if you look at the war as a whole, the patrolling and long periods of low intensity conflict would not make for a great game (unless you have an interest in the period) however, The campaign in the Ia Drang was quite different from the the majority of actions fought in vietnam, it was almost a classical brigade sized engagement (6-7 NVA and VC Mainforce battalions against 2-3 US Air Cavalry battalions, with massive air and artilley support), albeit the one that gave birth to a whole new way of deploying and co-ordindating your troops (airmobility) and as such probably makes for one most suitable campaigns to be used with the ofp engine (as its not so big and vehicle heavy that the engine cannot cope) and the confused and fragmented nature of the fighting over 2-3 days (not to mention the follow-up operations and the siege of Plei Mei) make for any number of great historical missions. I personally think the terrain is stunning and cant wait for the updated nam pack to come out so i can start designing some missions. great job SelectThis

It needs resistance mate (guess thats where the "bike" code is). But it is a fantastic model, i've been whizzing around the forests in kolgojev for a bit, and having a great time. Dave

Falklands war mods/addons..?

yeah ... Falkands Mod -
</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE"> yep, I agree, NATO basicaly means one for all and all for one. If one nation that is a member of NATO is attacked then the others will help. I hear you cry " what about the Falklands, why didnt anyone help the Brits?". Because the Falkland islands are not in the north atlatic which is why we had to fight on our own.<span id='postcolor'> To be fair the Americans  did lend substantial support during the falklands, for example the lack of UN Security Council Resolutions against the (rapid) use of Armed intervention and the "technically unlawful" exclusion zone. and I Belive they also offered to 'lend' us a Carrier when one of ours developed problems after leaving port, but they managed to fix it (an awsome peice of engineering) in time.
