Arma 3 Community Alpha - Announcement!
Undeceived replied to royaltyinexile's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Well, there is something like a downloader but it's not obligatory and I never use it - I go for the direct link. :D -
Well, I can't give you any hard facts but atleast it seems so... Knowing the AI for quite some time by now I think that some of these AI reactions from which Jay died wouldn't have happened in Arma 2. They (from a subjective viewpoint) looked a bit sharper and faster.
-
*facepalm*... I noticed quite an AI-improvement by WATCHING the video, not just hearing what was told. ;) Other than that they said that they won't make a complete new AI but take Arma 2's AI and improve it - so the last part of your sentence doesn't make sense.
-
I love to see the AI turning that fast in this video! :)

These are some great screenshots! :) As I see it, it rather is one of those rusty wreck models. :)

Undeceived replied to Dwarden's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Thanks for the patch, BIS! Keep it up! :) -
Yeah, me too. When I heard and saw JDF, I was a bit like... "Hm... Ok?... :j: Nice, but..." :D

Maybe it will help you to use the addwaypoint command. Here's a way how I made a AI unit (a pilot in my case) board a heli: group = group nameofdude; wp0 = group AddWaypoint [Position nameofchopper, 0]; [group , 0] SetWaypointType "GetIn"; Edit: Damn! :D I should form the habit to read threads until the end before posting something. :D Good that you could get it to work already! -

Units change direction when i use commandStop command :S !! help..
Undeceived replied to dimdic's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
Hi dimdic, you can use the stop command. unitname stop true; will make it stop. If that doesn't work properly, try: unitname disableAI "MOVE"; unitname disableAI "ANIM"; which will definitely stop them but they won't even blink in this mode. No random animation like looking around or picking nose. :) Important! To disable the commands and make them move again: unitname stop false unitname enableAI "MOVE"; unitname enableAI "ANIM"; One more hint: You can search for related commands in the new OFPEC COMREF search system. If you e.g. want all commands that contain the word "stop", you search for it and it will show you them all (and some more related ones). That's quite useful when you know what you want to do but don't know the exact command name. Together with the BIKI it's very useful for editing! -
Never saw it from that perspective. :D I just ask myself who gets more pissed off, me or the AI? ;) Well, let's see and hope if / that BIS can still do something for Arma 3 regareing this... Still waiting and hoping for the 3D-editor as well...
-
That issue with the ridgeline is the thing that totally pisses me off! Well discribed, Maturin. Playing without grass gives me nostalgia-feelings because everything looks a bit more like OFP, but seriously - this can't be the way it works if you want to have a chance in such situations! I so much hope that BI will finally (completely) fix this immersion killer...
-
Ok, there might be something fishy with the German tranalation of Dan's words, but I don't give much about those killer-argumentation-videos... Guess that I'll fraps some situations when I get a bit more of time.
-
Oh, I doubt that! Try to take a hill protected by the AI by approaching on foot slowly and carefully with the grass enabled. You should get killed before you actually can see the AI. Happened to me innumerous times, even with the latest version. That's why I very often disable the grass... It's just frustrating!

Arma 3: Confirmed features | info & discussion
Undeceived replied to Maio's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
That sums it up quite well... -
http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?119218-Latest-quot-ARMA-3-quot-Press-Coverage-NO-discussion-here!&p=2190642&viewfull=1#post2190642 There's a new interview on Gamestar with Dan Musil. Two of the things he mentioned really let me die a bit inside and I'm quite frustrated right now... GS: "Is the AI finally unable to look through the grass?" D.M.: "Unfortunately there is no progress. It stays like it is." I can't believe that it isn't possible to fix this...! In so many missions the grass details are completely useless because the AI has such a huge advantage over the player because it can look through the grass. Most of the time I have the grass disabled because of this crappy "feature" and I really really hope that this only means the actual status quo... GS: "How did you improve the editor?" D.M.: "We had to shorten some of our ambitious plans for the editor. As we don't have sufficient ressources, we concentrate on improvements of the handling and accessibility of the editor version, compared to the version which is known from Operation Arrowhead." Guess that this confirms that the 3D-editor won't be there, which really is absolutely disappointing! PLEASE, BIS... :( Hear us in those two things! :k:

Interview with Dan Musil about A3: http://www.gamestar.de/spiele/arma-3/artikel/arma_3,46950,2570069.html Some of the contents: - No COOP-Campaign - focus on SP campaign and separate MP scenarios - GS: "Is the AI finally unable to look through the grass?" D.M.: "Unfortunately there is no progress. It stays like it is." - There will be a "whole new mod-plattform", but it's not ready yet - GS: "How did you improve the editor?" D.M.: "We had to shorten some of our ambitious plans for the editor. As we don't have sufficient ressources, we concentrate on improvements of the handling and accessibility of the editor version, compared to the version which is known from Operation Arrowhead." - There will be a Arma 3-demo sooner or later

Come on, BIS, you can't be serious about that! :( -
Hi BillSirKill! Those points are added automatically when you kill targets. At the end of each mission (in the debriefing) something like a tally will appear. But you should mess around with the minimum, the average and the maximum score a player can get, if you want to differenciate that tally. Here's the link to the Wiki about the min- avg- and maxscore sections of the description.ext. When the player reaches the maximum score, a gold star or something like that (forgot it :D) will appear in the debriefing. And a red cross or something will appear when he only reached the minimum score. Other than that it is possible to add an amount of points when a CERTAIN condition is fulfilled, which is defined by you (e.g. when the big boss officer is killed or all tanks of the base are destroyed). For this you should check the addRating command. Hope that I could help you a little bit.
