if someone has already mentioned this or if its not worth a new topic then i'm sorry but here goes. In arma 2 i the main thing i would like to see improved is the way helo's (AI) come in to land when dropping troops. I watch them sometimes and they come in fast, then to stop they climb really high then very very slowly decend on to the LZ, by which time the enemy have emptied a couple hundred PK rounds in to the side of it. I had hoped this (aswell as the fastroping) would have been fixed in arma but it wasnt. i've put up with it since buying OFP in 2001 and i really would like to see it fixed for arma2.

Winter in ArmA II - Snow!
urbanwarrior replied to Buzz_Fledderjohn's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
i was referring to the use of manpower within their development team, i was not saying their texture artists should diversify into AI programming, quite the contrary. What i was saying is that it would be beneficial if they do the hard parts, AI being one of them, then the community can easily cover the easy parts like new seasons and such -
Winter in ArmA II - Snow!
urbanwarrior replied to Buzz_Fledderjohn's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
dslyecxi made a good point, i would love to see this implemented but i would rather see the developers spending time on the AI than the winter thing. Besides, the community will do it anyway.......if we ask nicely -
Winter in ArmA II - Snow!
urbanwarrior replied to Buzz_Fledderjohn's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
agreed, winter in arma2 should definately have snow, its been developed in ofp and arma1 (i think?) so people obviously want it. -
What military equipment and vehicles do you want?
urbanwarrior replied to WARFIGHTER989's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Proper selection of helo's. I want what we currently have aswell as a Ch-53 and a Merlin. And some bloody British units for a change, every conflict the US is in we are normally there to, would be nice to have some para's and royal marines, actually come to think of it, throw in a couple of Seaking's for the royal marines. -
yeah i had them for ofp years and years ago, they where actually quite good, i remember they came with the rappel scripts aswell. Cant find them though and when they release arma2 i would like to see it there as standard. It should do it slowly like they do now when its waypoint is set to safe but when its set to combat or whatever it should come in and land hard and fast. would be more fun

Franze i checked wikipedia again and it says 11 hardpoints with a payload capacity of 8050kg, i may be wrong but thats what i'm seeing, and thats only 500kg more than a F16-D http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superhornet
-
yeah i noticed some conflicting info on wikipedia, infact the internet as a whole really. as a matter of interest i actually found a link referring to an instance where a f18 got a gun kill on a F22 recently so it must be pretty maneovreable. but yes you are correct, in horizontal turns it can sustain higher turn rates but its all pretty pointless anyway because its not the 60's anymore and as we all know the hornet would kill an f16 before either of them even seen each other. hornet=over horizon engagement falcon=fail
-
Well yes, the F/A-18 (both Hornet and Super Hornet) have a big advantage over the F-16 in turning or horizontal manouvers since the F/A-18 is capable of higher angle of attack manouvers. This means that if you put an F/A-18 and an F-16 side by side and put them in a dogfight with each other, the F/A-18 would definitly point it's nose first into the F-16 than vice-versa. But you correct when you say that the F-16 has a higher thrust to weight ratio than the F/A-18 (even if this can obviously vary depending on the fuel and weapons load that each aircraft carries), but a higher thrust to weight ratio doesn't mean higher horizontal turning capability but instead it gives an advantage over vertical (or energy) manouver therefore the F-16 should have an advantage (in vertical manouvers) over the F/A-18. I agree with some of what you said but i still dont think an F18 is going to have an advantage over an F16. The falcon can hold higher g than a hornet and wont bleed speed fast as it will have more thrust by comparison. all this and the falcon only looses 500kg's of payload to a hornet. goddamn wikipedia rocks!

allthough the f18 has larger wings you'll find it has a larger wing loading value than the f16. The f16 also has a power to weight ratio higher than 1 so its capable of ballistic flight, the hornet is not. The f16 is considerably lighter aswell so for outright turning ability i would doubt the f18 is that much better if at all.

Cheers for the responses, think i will stick with the F16 for now, great job on the jet just a shame about the control side of things. p.s. sig has been updated kite
-
is this designed for a stick instead of a keyboard or something? I've tried to like this jet because it looks great and it had such a lot of effort put in to it, but i really dont enjoy flying it at all, its very twitchy and difficult to control, especially when trying to aim it to use the cannon
-
i'm sure lots of people have already said it but thankyou for the f16, it really is a lot of fun and is a great alternative to the av8. I also found it was hard to target the missiles but i'm sure it'll be fixed at a later date. Great jet!!

Thanks for the reply, that would make sense because it was in multiplayer with a friend that i was having the problem. Excellent addon, i am seriously hooked on it, there doesn't seem to be a problem that cant be solved with a little napalm! great work
-
i know its in the bug but does anyone know why sometimes when you drop 3 or 4 at once to make a wall of fire, only 1 or 2 actually explode, earlier i dropped all of them and only 2 exploded, the others disappeared

Please have a look at the price-table of this plane http://www.controller.com/listing....catID=6 and then you know you should handle this baby with care What does that have to do with not having a damage model?

8800 gts 320mb here, no problems at all except the game crashes to desktop after an hour or two of online play but i think that has more to do with my antivirus software seeing arma as an attack! also my rear case fan is so hot its like a hairdryer after installling the 8800. i cant run it at high everything, frames drop a little when flying if i do that, however my memory is crap 1gb pcworld budget RAM and my e6600 is stock 2.4ghz so that could explain it.

anything would be better than what we have now
-
Cant see BIS doing anything to help this as they already have our money and as dwarden said, they've got military sim contracts, why bother trying to fix a HUGE problem when it doesn't affect you anymore. Now queen gambit, thats a different story, who the hell is going to pay money to expand a game thats almost unuseable online. I'm almost looking forward to dragon rising coming out next year, maybe they can get it right.

just thought i would add here. I haven't played arma online for ages, been messing in the editor and playing with a couple of friends in private server, but i decided a couple of days ago to get back online, well in the past 2 or 3 days i seen more cheating, hacking, TK'ng and general stupidity than i have seen in the last 10 years that i've had a PC. Armed assault at the minute is almost pointless in multiplayer, tonight i have changed server 7 times each and every one og them was hacked, the last one was the worst, the guy tk'd then wasted all the choppers, then spawned zombies then elevated everyone to 10,000 meters and dropped them only to cap it off with everyone having to ctrl alt del. Admins cant do anything to stop them at the minute becasue kicking them doesn't work and now they can even kick the admin. And as for them not targetting evo, half the maps i had to leave were evo. as someone else said, this is seriously pushing me and quite a few (neaarly all) of my mates away from this game. such a shame that a good game gets ruined by a bunch of losers who like to demonstrate that they not only have no girlfriends but also would rather sit all night and write code/hacks to ruin a game than actually have a life.

yeah a riot mod with some old 70's schimiter's and some armoured landies, ruc and army. maybe with arma you could actually have a guy topside with a rifle on the armoured landy. I wish i could make mods like that but i think i opened o2 once then cried and turned it off!
-
same here, would love a riot mod, would just add another element to the game. imagine marching in to corazol to see 200 rioters, then you and your squad beat sh!t out off them while trying not to get burnt or stoned. i think i would give up half way through and start slotting them! mission failed!
-
i think i've still got that riot mod where they chucked tellies at you on a cd-r somewhere. I often thought it would be a good mod if they could turn the beer bottles in to molotov cocktails, i'm no scripter so i dont know how it would work but it would be good, would make things slightly more lethal! a norn iron mod for arma would get my vote, we just need some RUC units and some armoured landies.

..I'm starting to feel that way. Beyond the graphics (which I have set to low due to the lack of stability), what is the advantage playing ArmA? It's starting to feel like a step-back. 1.96 OFP with SebNam\FFUR is looking mighty attractive.. It's ironic that the mod release I anticipate most is basically OFP 1.0 recreated for ArmA. I'm still a fan and follow the game everyday and own two copies..but, it can be hard ignoring the spreading malaise. Agreed, i remember the days off playing bomberman over and over again, i miss my ghillie suit also! armed assault without the graphics is just ofp, look at the landscape/ soldiers then squint your eyes. this wouldn't be so bad if they had of given arma some kickass AI or a working easy to use artillery system or steerable parachutes or a harriers that dont try to drop lgbs from 150 meters then crash into the nearest hill just like the a10's did 6 years ago in ofp

and so you will
