How to make winning conditions
ufo_hk replied to zxmaster's topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
As RED said, but check out the tutorial in the readme file under editor section, as the trigger section gives some good examples. Other wise check out tutorials at these sites: http://www.concept-5.com/ofp/ http://www.3dactionplanet.com/flashpoint/ They give some good info on missions building. -
Or read through the readme file which comes with the game it provides a quick easy introduction to the editor.

Simple End Trigger - Help Needed
ufo_hk replied to Naish's topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Note the tutorial has an error in it. Sorry at work so the following might not be 100% correct, but should give you enough to figure it out. The "name" given to the snipper is called "ap" in one place then called "sy" in another. So when you make the end trigger (which says west truck is dead and car is alive and snipper is alive) using the given expressions it won;t work. To correct it make sure the "name"given to the snipper is the same as used anywhere else and in particular in the end trigger expression. Note : part one of tutorial states ". I have called my unit "aP". I will be refering to aP sometimes in this tutorial, so it might be best if you also call your unit aP. " While part 2 says: "Now place another SENSOR. This will be for the other ending, the one where you win the mission. AXISa=0, AXISb=0, ACTIVATION=NONE, TYPE=END 1, TEXT=endWIN, CONDITION=sy and westcardead and uscaralive " So change sy to ap or visa versa. (Edited by ufo hk at 5:37 am on Sep. 18, 2001) -

How go you pick respawn in mission editor?
ufo_hk replied to Fox2's topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
You can't in the editor, you need to create a description.ext file in your mission directory where you are generating the mission which includes the correct code. Refer to some of the multiplayer tutorials at this site: http://www.concept-5.com/ofp/ -
It funny how it changes from game to game. I found out cause I hit the "P" key during a multiplayed game and saw all this stuff and though - what is this. No reference to "P" key and so I asked. Next thing I searching for squads and now building a squad page.
-
As I just learnt Clan = Squad. Search for squad and a lot will be revealed.
-
Thanks - couldn't get a good match with my other searchs. If only I had tried "squad" ..... not I understand link between suad URL and the "p" page. They could have at least used the work Squafd on that page. Thanks again building one now.
-
Specifically where /how do you edit the contact information that comes up when you use the "P" in multiplayer mode. Are there more undocumented key functions?
-
Wreck might not like this but go to the following URL and download DePBO. http://www.concept-5.com/ofp/tutorial.shtml I agree with Wreck in that if you edit someone elses mission you must give credit to the originator thou.

Two / three months with the game and I didn't know about the "p" key..... I'll check that one out tonight. I kept using netmonitor to see what was happening. This might help free a little more resource.

Lag is very dependent upon the network conditions. We currently host one game on a ADSL service with 5 joiners all on the same ISP and all within the same city, and a mixture of cable / 56K modem connection -performance is great. However if conditions change such as using different ISPs or international connected players things can change and lag will be more apparent. Point is you need to check you network performance before pointing the finger at the game, and saying lag will occur.

Forget gamespy - get a group together and get one with reasonable bandwidth connection to host, use remote IP connection and have a ball. Otherwise organise a LAN meeting, and you won't regret it - you'll probably have your neighbours banging on the door demanding to join. Being able to hitch rides on the same vehicles to play co-op or just shooting everything that moves, makes for one #### of a fun time. As Mister Frag says "theres nothing quiote like ofp....... "and don't quote HL:CS, DFLW, back at me - I'll just laugh.

All MP players will get a warning message - just like the copywright warning on video tapes. However if you have illegal exe's you're get a little more

to get IP address use the winipcfg command.
-
Alternatively to Gambba suggeston: 1/ You need to know someone who's on line and using OFP. Use ICQ or MSN messanger to ID that person. 2/ Swap you IP numbers - you can find yours using winipcfg. 3/ If your hosting simply g omultiplayer mode and setup "new" game. 4/ Others use "join" and select "remote" and enter the IP address of the hoster exactily. Then gop from there. To simplify comms get Roger Wilco and communicate via voice.

Bump and maybe newbies will read and understand, instead of reporting.
