Now that I'm tackling this mission again and again I really like it, however the tracers really bug me, makes it seem like star wars. But interested in the warning recommendingthe use of 1G CPUs for this mission, I;m running on a 700 and it's fine. Agreed Revenge was a similar type of scenario that I enjoyed.

From Codemaster's Technical suppport page: Problem: Whenever the CD is entered a message appears saying 'Wrong CD-Key'. The game is a genuine copy of the game. Solution: If you have a O in the CD Key try entering it as a zero instead - or vice versa. Likewise try letters that look like a 1 as an I.

Mission name in Single missions
ufo_hk replied to Ptroinks's topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
1/ Make sure you're in advanced mode. 2/ Select "Intel" Area and type in mission name there. 3/ Save as single player mission. -
Make a chopper start on the ground, and wait for passengers?
ufo_hk replied to einstein's topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
'....you can't get the chopper to wait unless you have a waypoint that tells it to wait (a LOAD waypoint)...." Thats why you "synchronise" the load and getin waypoints. -
Look here, under adding faces to OFP: http://www.ofpeditingcenter.com/tutorial.shtml

how do I end my mission in mission editing
ufo_hk replied to afroman's topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Have a tigger to detect your mission ending and then get it to activate = end1 - end 6 (for win type endings) or lose. Eg: trigger to detect no east troops remain: Trigger "East" "not present" Type = "end1" or use condition field wher eyou want specific actions or states to be present before an end occurs. Syncronise Choppers Load waypoint with the groups Getin waypoint. Then the chopper will wait until group is in be fore moving on. -
Finially finished it - problem originally was I saved at a point where we had taken the East barricades, but didn't note that my Bradley and Ab tank had already been destroyed. So each time I restarted the East assault with all it's armour was unstoppable, even with all the LAW/RPGs laying around. Restarted and tryed again and completed it (in vet mode again ) Finding the odd guy somewhere in the bush does take time and knowing about the snipper helps. Thanks for the pointers.

Just had a LAN meeting over the weekend and ran "Armour Raid" and "BMP camp" in Firefox's set above and certainly can recommend these two missions. As they force you to really work together and think about what you're doing. A few good surprises and also not overloaded so will run well on most machines.

Make sure as per intruder instructions that your "groups" waypoint is not on the "H" this will prevent Helio landing at a pad.

Ok not much help so far - so one more question, is there any difference between if you host or you join -using remote IP connection? (not GS or ASE)
-
and you're all running the same version of OFP 1.27 ?? (don't think this is the issue as you've stated you can join stock maps - but might as well ask just in case) (Edited by ufo hk at 4:35 am on Oct. 30, 2001)
-
The custom maps you are loading - do they contain any addons (offical or unoffical) that you don't have loaded? If so this might be the issue.
-
Spinor - thats it, element of surprise/unknown now works. Thanks

Is there a way to hide markers on a map until a particular trigger is acheived. I already have the objectives hidden and can get them to appear correctly once a trigger is released, but I want the map markers assoicated with these objectives to also remain hidden until trigger is activiated.

Thanks for info re article - trying to track a copy down now. I think it's reasonable to understand why a low percentage have broadband - simply a matter economics, Checking some of UKs pricing between 56K ISP connection and broadband options you're into 300% price increase and 12 month commitments, therefore as Rowland says in one of his on line articles "Taking a Broadband service is a significant financial commitment." Demand will be influenced by cost, so as new bandwidth demanding games come out and competition in braodband offering come - growth will occur. It's similar pattern to other services eg mobile.
-
If you don't want to use Gamespy or ASE, then get some others together and use remote IP connection. It's the only connection method we use, unless we can run a LAN meeting.
-
Correction: DF's and "HL:CS's" are newbies. ;-)

"A survey carried out in the UK showes very few are interested in having broadband" - Let me see this survey !!, far out a survey on this topic that bucks every market research that our company (and we're owned by BT and hence share some of their research) has carried out in the last three years. s**t Telecos must be mad spending millions every year to force open and unrestricited competition to allow them to give customers broadband services to meet a demand that one survey says customers don't want. Whats was the question in the survey?: Question: Do you want broadband service at $5000 per year. (Yes/No) or: Question: Do you want broadband service at a near or equivalent to your current Telco/ISP bill? (Yes/No) Sure you may not want to move to get Broadband services and in this you would be no different than 99% of the people. But to say there is no demand is utter crap !!!. 56K service will not be dropped just like, land lines have not be dropped since mobile has become available. Telecom NZ released a low cost broadband solution simply to meet the pressure from residential market for a cheap broadband service - why so Dad could download porn? - No because kids where demanding faster unlimited volume internet connections for gaming. My point is you're entitled to your opinion but get some of your facts checked.

Team King Of The Hill Spawing is different in OFP than in DFLW in terms of it being "mission" controlled and hence variable (and better) rather than just simple server controlled respawn. As Malboeuf shows any DFLW game type can be emulated by OFP, but the mission designer dictates this withthe options available to him.
-
Jeez RN Malboeuf - claim down, look at the number of posts he's made "1", joininprogress obviously finds it easier to post and knock something. Rather than read the number of posting and information already available on this topic. He's entitled to his opinion, even if it is misguided and obviously doesn't actually want to change anything. You and I both know BI are activity trying to improve the situation, a game thats been in the top 10 selling spot is certainly going to be around for some time yet. Let them wait for a replacement game eg "Ghost Recon" - which we already know is missing many features OFP has.
-
I too am a fan of DFLW, however it's taken a back place since OFP is out. There is only one built in mission of this type, in the version 1.20. However a couple of custom missions have been released which allow TKOTH type missions, but the game play/respawning/teaming are considerably different than DFLW, so don't expect to have the same experiences, in many ways it is better if you're after realism rather than quick fire scenarios. For example of this type of mission see the tutorial on capture and hold at: http://www.ofpeditingcenter.com/tutorial.shtml
-
Cle Hicks / Suma and others make some really good points which I believe others just don't want to come to grips with. Otherwise this issue won't keep appearing (I not saying don't discuss it !!) OFP is not a FPS such as HL:CS / Quake etc - it's a totally different experience and therefore suits different people in different ways. To say that because one feature is missing the game is likely to die, over looks the fact that there are many other features / functionality provided that will ensure it's survival. The mission editor is a great example, with this you've got two great oppurtunties that go well beyond being able to simply join an existing game. You can either spend hours playing a wider variety games simply because the editor exists, or you can spend hours building missions, or do both. Also comparing the game features with others such as Red Faction / Delta force Land Warrior is not correct, Red faction and Delta force certainly have much less status information to relay between players. Therefore we are comparing apples with oranges etc. Although it might be a possible that a compromise could be considered, ie join a game feature is available in CTF / DM type games (with out vehicles??) - if game type could be identified.
