    Kind of like the matrix?

    IMO the issues some people raise as being unrealistic seem to miss a very important point - it's a game !!!! How realistic is it that: 1/ you never need to eat or shit. 2/ you die and you can play again. 3/ you don't have to pay taxes. 4/ you can run all day and never get thirsty or collaspe. 5/ there are no animals insects or woman in OFP. 6/ you never actually get wet when you go for a swim. &............... Come on be realistic this game emulates a load of features that you might find in the real world but it is still only a game for you to have fun. By the way I've never fired an M16 - maybe I shouldn't be allowed to do that in the game. Hey but I got a PPL so I'm OK for the Cesenna.

    LAG Conquest

    Some tweak ideas for 56K on OFP: 1/ Win9X - check your mtu etc settings using eg "TweakDun" 2/ Use don't use gamespy or ASE to find OFP games, use remote connection preferrably to someone who has a broadband connection. 3/ Use private games with limited number of players. 4/ Join with players on the same ISP. 5/ Disable most background programs using "enditall" 6/ Use missions with limited number of in game objects, try these: http://members.lycos.co.uk/bloodmixer/ or/ http://pub16.ezboard.com/fi82map....9.topic have fun....

    Convoy mission

    Just went back to replay this SP mission and had a strange thing happen. We got to the ambush point and after disembarking we cleared the area of any troops and continued on a little way to the next village, while doing this I came across the injured officer who was originally leading the convoy. Well guess what the guy must have been serverly shell shocked as he didn't want and assistance and simply continued crawling towards the next village to be shot. Doh.... guess it was something the mission designers didn't expect to happen. Well just goes to show how much replayablity there is in each of the OFP missions.

    I really hate CTFs which include satchel charges, no fun when a message pops up "x has the flag" - "bommmmmm" A couple of options I think could be implemented: 1/ Make an option which disables the "x has the flag message", Like anything the first you should knkow it's missing is when you see it is gone or a team mate tells you it is not longer there. 2/ Allow charges to be detonated by gun fire/ granades etc and allow them to be disarmed. At least then there is a chance of disabling them but still allows the use of charges.

    Lupus - what is your point In the same posting you say FADE is a myth - it doesn't exist. Then in your last line you say you used a modified exe file and you implied that it triggered FADE. If you know it doesn't exist - why are you even thinking of testing on your base system and why are you asking for what the FADE triggers are. Is it because you don't really know. Quote - "I mean no matter how you look at it. The idea of it is idiotic. If BIS really did it, it would be idiotic." / Quote It's actually how "you" look at it, maybe "you" just can't latch on to the reason Codemasters/BI might have for doing this. Can't you see the association between modified exe (no cd patch) and file/game distribution over the internet. Anyway I've gone a game to play ...... stuff following this debate any further.

    We also prefer an external voice comms solution and we're using rogerwilco with base station on dedicated server. We've tried Teamspeak and battle communicator (before it be came MS game voice)

    Coop command problem?

    I suspect theres something in the map editing. We played the inbuilt 2-5-coop which was edited to make medic playable (map includes hostages which join) over the weekend serval times, both with a mix of players and AI or all players. We had the situation a couple of times where the leader died after we had the hostages on the team and he respawned in one of their positions. Someone else became the leader of the group and could issue commands to all. We did have other respawn problems ie two people respawned in the same body a couple of times. Can you put up link to your mission.

    IMO this seems a realism killer. Why not simply use correct radio procedures - where radio user would ID themselves with call sign or their number? The AI guys are doing it - just follow their lead.

    PBO to SQM conversion...

    Missions from BI are encripted therefore you need SQM -file decripter. Note once the file is decripted open it in a text editor and remove the last three lines, save as mission.sqm and test. Fubar - I suspect it's the additional lines in the decripted file that are causing your problem.

If you think about this gives you the answer to your question: "How can they code something that degrades the game from your HD?" - you simply make different data calls based upon a specific situation. Fade is something codemasters wanted - not BI. Also fade is easy to confirm - load two PCs on a LAN from the same CD (then multiplay), and watch the message warning. Then do the same with two different copies, notice any message? If you're using legal copies you have nothing to fear. If you think you're experiencing fade using legal setup - BI have said contact them and they will look into it. Funny that no one posts. "Hey I have FADE - but BI won't help me." and show supporting evidence. Stop worrying about Fade and go enjoy the game.
