  1. I didn't read the whole thread but to me it looks so:

    ArmA (partly nonrealistic things like Javelin aiming, no official flir) but realistic and tough to play.

    OFP:DR will be a better COD: Realistic looking Shooter (Javelin, atmosphere) but easy to play. Look at Youtube, there are many players waiting for OFP:DR, not because ArmA II isn't beautiful, but it is too sophisticated for them.

    And there are many player outthere which like movie-like action games, where faults can be forgiven. The original OFP Series - which ArmA and ArmA 2 ensues - is more frustrating dying as a result of your own faults.

    But despite of learnable tactics: the ArmA series got a huge community making Addons Missions etc. And it is flexible to the community ideas like submarines, nukes etc (none knows about the future of ofp:dr)


  2. Im using X2 4850e @ 2,6Gghz

    HD 4850 512MB

    4GB DDR 2 800Mhz

    Win XP

    I mostly play MP:

    There are times i get 60fps per second. On some servers where it is graphically intense it gets droppend to ~20 fps. If i look to the ground (only few textures) i get over 40 fps, so this drop down is due to the HD 4850 (then it helps to disbale anti aliasing).

    But there are also times i play on server when the fps stays at 20fps when i look down to the ground... is this cpu caused or slow server caused fps problem? :(


  3. Mmh please note it is not that good for newssites to write StarWars and if you call them like this trademark name starwars.pbo and so on we won't host it! Unfortunately there was ofp.info which got carpeted - the had to pay 2000€ :(

    So the best is just call them different from the beginning. Thanks :)

  4. Hi there, i don't know if this is listed but i didn't see this. This has happened different times in MP:

    I was gunner in T72/90 and looked at enemy/friendly tank and did a right click. Then the sight switched some cm above, but fired at the same angle. Then i have to move my mouse down, just do another rightclick and the sight switches to normal view. Everytime.

    And again like ArmA 1 told me: Don't drive against/over small stones, but fortunately the tank landet on the right side :) http://arma2base.de/content/images/flieg_mein_junge.jpg


  5. I think the new goal is to make some kind of future version of ofp/arma CTI. I think this will be appreciated by the ArmA 2 community which partly want scifi mods for the ArmA series.

    Are there many games otthere combining rts elemnts with the possibility to control the units by youself? I don't think so. :)


  6. I hope they will improve ArmA 2 with 1.02 like they did with ArmA's 1.08 :) It is bad if you play in MP and lokking down the ground (only the ground texture) does not increase your fps. In editor or with only two mates MP is near 40 fps but with many players scattered around chernarus gives me only ~25 fps with my 4850e@ 2,7Ghz + HD 4850. But as said above high end systems got similar results...


  7. I have now over 6 GB of fotos and i already made some of its "texture-ready", which means, 1280x1280 res, normal and specular map.

    There is also a first model in .3ds but back in the days of Armed Assault i had really problems importing them into O2 because there were losses of faces. I even don't know how to make some really cool uv map...but maybe someone wants to help making these enterable buildings :)

  8. Yeah this scenrey seems to be caused by "low cpu performance" but you already got a decent quad...I hope the make performance as a "feature" in the next patch.

    Same thign to me nearly no difference if i enable the beautiful gras or not with my HD 4850 so it think it is caused by the CPU. But why even the core i7 are not enough for hungry arma2 ?

    Look at the table. So i think my cpu 4850e @ 2,7 Ghz is powerful enough but maybe there are some nasty faults in the code?
