    ArmA Progress Updates

Please disregard this post if this has already been reported... Infos Best Regards Thunderbird84

What do you *HOPE* will be in ArmA?

Indeed, one can do more with the 'drop' command in OFP, but why not to reverse the tendency in ArmA, 'cfgcloudlets' data uses less 'cpu resources' than the classical 'drop' commands used by scripts. I think it would be quite interesting as well. Best Regards Thunderbird84

    FFUR - Huge Release !!

This idea sounds very interesting, but you have to know that AI scripts in 90% of cases use the scripting command 'nearestobject', after checking out the specifical lines done for the purpose you asked about, I have to say it would make occur a lot of lag because it uses that command more than 40 times, e.g This command does detect the object nearest the player or the AI and each line uses a big part of cpu resources, that's why several people complained about the lag occured in VME. As you know, we manage FFUR packs as best as possible in order to avoid the use of such scripts, even a lot of them might very interesting in game but unfortunately OFP's engine's too limited. Btw, I enhanced the script done yesterday by making the enemy dying after 10 seconds of anguish, it makes more sense, though. Best Regards Thunderbird84

Indeed, very nice update but unfortunately the AI is still unable to fight in woods. Best Regards Thunderbird84

    FFUR - Huge Release !!

Hi, No, it doesn't make occur any lag in game, this script's quite light. Indeed, in real life soldiers usually carry a small 'medical bag', I think we would implement that in order to allow to soldiers to heal themselves even it might not be that realistic according to the gravity of the wound. We enhanced their smoke by decreasing its visibility and by making it greyer, muzzle flashes sizes have also been decreased, the ironsights have been improved as well, the vertical recoil value has been reduced too and the most important addition is the realistic tracers that bounce or even become particles at impact with an object. Here's a real movie showing a M249 firing sequence. will replace it by a better one. Best Regards Thunderbird84

What do you *HOPE* will be in ArmA?

A lot of people already published my hopes, but I still have one, though, it would be really great that all 'explosion, burning, smoke effects would be defined in the cfgcloudlets and not by the use of 'drop' commands in .sqs. cpp way's always better. Regards Thunderbird84

    FFUR - Huge Release !!

New feature: As promised a few days ago, I did a new script that makes the enemy unable to fight when it's heavly wounded in order to increase the medic's role. It's quite harsh as anim, though (inspired from real movies) ,I hope it would enjoy some 'Ultra-realism fanatics'. Some shots. '...russian soldier sniped to the torso at 200 meters with a M24 sws '7.62' while running...' '... the second bullet let him no chance...' Best Regards Thunderbird84

    FFUR - Huge Release !!

Hi, BIS uzis are quite decent, the same goes for BIS Heavy grenade launchers. FFUR 2005 Russian snipers don't wear the same camo than 1985 soviet Guillie snipers and both of snipers (SVD & OSV-96) do wear the same sniper battle dress in FFUR 2005. There would be enhanced and updated versions of the previous packs. Chinese have their own 'desert' camo as you may see here. Only a few units wear it. (The People’s Liberation Army stationed units in GOBI desert). But VME mod haven't made it and as far as I know they don't expect to make one. You might use the woodland one For your own use, though. Weird, if your system's clean and your ofp folders as well, then you might not have any cpu problem with any of the curent FFUR packs, if not then wait for the incoming FFUR 6.0 packs, all addons have been regrouped in kind of 'FFUR_...' folders in order to decrease the loading time of 40%. Indeed. Right, one of the two envisaged MP configs would make the packs very light. No. At first because there aren't too many of visual differences between 85/05 except equipement variants/versions. and secondly because we don't have enough of time to do that due to the fact we're quite busy with the new expected FFUR 6.0 packs. and you should know that the FFUR mod first objective was to carry out only 85 packs. 2005 & asian are 'just' additions. Best Regards Thunderbird84

    FFUR - Huge Release !!

Hi, The M2 and M82A1 accuracies have been increased as requested. The tracers effects we incorporated in FFUR 6.0 are quite realistic, they look more authentic and hundred times better than the previous ones. Enhancing the AI in order to make 'em' that efficient would require the use of scripts, unfortunately there's nothing one can do via the cpp, OFP's engine is definitely limited. Btw, the current progress of all new FFUR 6.0 packs is reaching completion, exactly as wished. We still wait for some addons in order to replace the current used ones. (RHS Mi-24/ RHS Su-25) (OWP General Pack/ OWP Mi-8 pack) (Spetznatz Mod Shilka). I'd like to thank all people & mods who supported and helped us and who're still supporting us as well. Let's give a last blow to OFP before ArmA will come up. Best Regards Thunderbird84

    ArmA Progress Updates

Very nice work BIS, I'm really glad to see you included such pretty and realistic burning effects, I hope you've defined them in the cfgcloudlets instead of classical 'drop' commands that are used for such purposes. Good luck! Best Regards Thunderbird84

    FFUR - Huge Release !!

Hehe, it's quite hard to pull that maneuver in OFP, I simulated the Cobra by pulling up the plane without throttle and using ailerons, though: P Nah... Pogatchev Cobra seems to be exclusive to Flankers, I've never seen another jet fighter carrying it out. No, the SVD hasen't been replaced by the OSV-96, I just added a new Heavy Sniper in order to balance with the US Heavy sniper (M82A1). The GSh-18 pistol was developed in mid-to-late 1990s in Russia and there are several Spetznatz units who use it, even if the APS's still quite popular across Russian special forces (especially SOBR & OMON units), but we'll keep the APS to FFUR 1985 Ru Spetznatz. Best Regards Thunderbird84

    FFUR - Huge Release !!

More screens: BIS G3 replaced by NorFor mod AG3. Sniper OSV-96 Added 'Afterburner' action to the F-16. Now Spetsnatz Units carry the GSH-18 instead of the APS. Mi-28 replaced by Evgeni Hokum KA-52 in order to get the finalised version of the V-80 done 20 years ago. Best Regards Thunderbird84

RHS Releases: T80 MBT Pack v.1

Increasing the DSHK ammunition value in order to shoot down trees would make it too powerful, so 1 bullet might take out an MBT. This problem's simply due to OFP's engine and there's nothing people can do, except maybe a complex scripting work that would use a lot of lagy 'nearest' commands. Regards Thunderbird84

    FFUR - Huge Release !!

Hi, ORCS BMP-1 has been implemented in FFUR 1985 instead of BIS one, but FFUR 2005 uses the BMP-2 instead of the BMP-1 and the BMP-3 has been incorporated in order to replace the BMP-2. Btw, here are some shots of the new replacements carried out these days in FFUR 2005. Su-27 showing its outstanding abilities by executing the famous Pokatchev 'Cobra-manoeuver'. :-) T-80UM ready to strike Saint-Pierre. US BlackOp out of M4 5.56 ammo, is forced to use his Sig Sauer P226. BRDM-2 waiting for its crews for some usual patrol activities around the forest. NSV machine gunner spotted an apache at 12 o'clock. Big thanks to the great mods who've carried out these outstanding addons. (RHS, FDF, Spetznatz, SJB, Bambi...etc) we still have to ask FDFmod permission in order to publish their implemented addons. Best Regards Thunderbird84

    FFUR - Huge Release !!

This is totally impossible to do, soldiers can still stay out or inside but you can't switch between both of sitting ways. AI infantry units attack choppers and even jet fighters 'when they're flying slowly' in FFUR. Several changes have been carried out for this purpose, though. Best Regards Thunderbird84

    FFUR - Huge Release !!

No, things don't occur like that, even in real life, How can a jet fighter 'which's supposed to fly at ~300 - 500> 1000 mph' spot a bunch of human enemies and to take them down with such a speed? Choppers can do that, though. Open fire on a flying chopper in FFUR then it would take you out. Btw, I noticed that even A10 might sometimes open fire on you using their 30mm canons, only if you agress them first. Best Regards Thunderbird84

    SOVIET WINTER PACK 1.1

Thanks for these infos, as Shadow mentioned, it would be better to get a white camo for OFP winter islands. Btw, the current file seems corrupted, any other mirror would be greatly appreciated. Regards Thunderbird84

    FFUR - Huge Release !!

This seems more logical, you can effeciently take a chopper out only if it's flying slowly. Regards TB84
