FFUR 2006 2.0 Total conversion pack

Hi everyone, I have not written in awhile since I have been quite busy (army... etc), but I should again have a bit more free time to definitely accomplish the awaited patch. Actually, as the main and last needed task, we have to entirely focuse on the multiplayer side, and we would contact several people that have been kind enough to help us to polish some of the mp aspects previously. Sincerely, thank you for your patience and amazing support, I will come up with a bunch of shots as soon as possible. Best Regards, Thunderbird84

I know they look unfinished because the helmet is on the straps, there are several ways to put your goggles on and soldiers are free to lower' em as they wish, though. And these aren't 'oakleys', just a bunch of custom goggles, (unlike several armies, the US Army personnel is allowed to customize a part of the gear). Cheers for the nice words though, I'm pleased you appreciate them, and thanks once again to all people that helped in any way to make it all possible. regards, Thunderbird84

This is probably referred to the materials Fx because in terms of visual quality (in the shots above), there's not a huge difference between 'Dxdll-ed' shots and 'un-Dxdll-ed' ones. regards, Thunderbird84

FFUR US Army Infantry Project (1.00) Several hours were spent in upgrading the entire US Army personnel side, pondering several issues and figuring'em out to make them the most accurate and authentic possible, of course, they aren't 100% perfect, but they at least enhance an aspect of the gameplay/realism factor. US Green Berets (BDU Camo). US Green Berets (ACU Camo). US Regular Infantry (Medic/ BDU Camo). US Regular Infantry (Rifleman/ BDU Camo). US Armored Cavalry (Crew/ACU Camo). No worries about the multiplayer side, this time, very intensive efforts will be involved in order to make sure that the mod will work properly online, that has not been carried out with the previous release because of the huge lack of time I was experiencing, though, thank you for you understanding. You will get the ability to play with 4 different Infantry squads in the US side, which are composed of several models variants that aim to increase the immersion feeling in game. (ACU Infantry/Special Forces troops) & (BDU Infantry/Special Forces troops). Cheers, a very nice job on 'em and keep it up. Indeed, I disable shadow settings to increase the performance due to my comp's weakness. Thank you all for the kind words and the great support and huge thanks to all people that supported us to accomplish this US Infantry project in a limited time (Detailed list within a few days in the incoming readme). regards, thunderbird84

[*]'Materials Fx' added to all textures. [*]Fixed the flag/arm patch issues (Division/squad arm patch removed). Special thanks, to CameronMcDonald for the great work he carried out on the magazine pouches, camelback... textures. to Olemissrebel for all of the advices and pictures, and finally, to Codeblue for allowing us to base our project on their models. regards Thunderbird84

    FFUR 2006

You are the welcome, I feel very pleased to see that people continue to be interested in FFUR, even if things get a bit slow. I never thought it would get this far when I started this project, which is, thankfully, supported by the entire community and which is done by people from all countries, religions and different ways of life. I just dedicate it to everyone. regards thunderbird84

Several wreck models derived from the implemented models will be included instead of BIS ones. As mentioned above, there would be a small tut which will explain the way to customize your own FOV. This would certainly be done as it has already been accomplished for the Hind. The time is seriously lacking here because of real life duties, every free minute is used in order to accomplish the patch, though, it's nearly accomplished btw. Just keep patient, Patience is a virtue. ; -) Regards Thunderbird84

    Armed Assault ACU Units

Nice progress thus far, but with no offense, these soldiers models should not be called "US", due to their inaccuracy at all grades as it has already been stated, you should call them something else imho, maybe a kind of Mercs corps derived from US paramilitary troops, it's up to you, though and keep up your efforts to improve. regards Thunderbird84

I second that, get a look at "BAS Infantry Kit" that has been released a while ago, it might be quite helpful to carry out some decent 'seams and hems' layers. Download I would suggest you slightly decrease the textures brightness to make'em fit better. Nice'n quick progress, though, keep it up. regards thunderbird84

This is probably the first complain I hear about such a sound "issue", I don't get it, though, what do you mean by "#sound system# ", being a little more accurate than that, might just be helpful. The only way to fix this issue is to unpbo the concerned addon (the addon which is getting the animation issue): -Open the config.cpp, /in some rare cases, it's a .bin, in the following case, unbinarize the config with Binview. -Find the class of the 'concerned' addon in the cfgvehicles section. -In this case, we will use BIS BMP ambulance as example, due to the fact it's derived from BIS BMP class, as you may notice below: -Then we will get a look at the whole data of the BMP class between <span style='color:blue'>{</span> and <span style='color:blue'> }; class RussianTank : Tank</span> and you should notice that there's none of these lines in class BMPAmbul : driverAction= gunnerAction= commanderAction= driverInAction= gunnerInAction= commanderInAction= These lines are supposed to set the cargo animations of the driver, the gunner and the commander, which are already defined above in the "class CfgVehicleActions" and "class CfgMovesMC", so due to the fact that the BMPAmbul is derived from the class BMP, we will copy these lines from the class BMP and we will paste'em to the class BMPAmbul, and you should see : And finally create a .pbo from the concerned folder and overwrite the previous addon (make a backup first). Following this way for the rest of addons, should work if everything is put where it should be. Regards Thunderbird84

Glad to see that the new models are overall, quite satisfying, even if the ACU models still need a couple of minor modifications as Olemiss and Jahve mentioned (that would hopefully be carried out ASAP), thank you for the nice words and the support which is, as always, much appreciated. This is probably caused by the binocular 2nd view which doesn't sound well centered in game, I will get a look at it as soon as time would permit. Indeed. I must admit that the ACU pattern was one of the hardest camo that I had to deal with thus far, due to the amount of needed adjustements to make it blend in with OFP greenfields, and you have certainly been the only one who have really figured out this issue by making the right color/contrast/brightness adjustements, thanks for the input. Regards Thunderbird84

    Was the Pope..

What one sees as evil is in the other side, the good and unfortunately, there is, and there would be a "huge" misunderstanding between both "worlds", neither is able to understand the other, and I'm afraid the situation wouldn't get better as long as both sides wouldn't make the necessary efforts to dissipate the hatred. A couple of days ago, I have uploaded a couple of shots on my image's account with the hope to show'em to some people in order to get some impressions for further enhancements, well I think it would be better to share these pics with everyone in order to get everyone's opinion and feedback US Army personnel models. ACU SF Operators. (US army green berets). As you may notice above, the ACU models still use the woodland IBA model, and this has been done especially to somehow show the 'BDU -> ACU' transition period. Once again, thanks to 'Codeblue' people for their permission to base our 'US models project' on their realistic and authentic human 3Ds and special thanks to CameronMcDonald for all of his advices and support, to Olemissrebel, our military advisor and finally, to TQP & Jonny for some parts of their models. Hi, Sorry for the long delay again, I know that the time is getting short, but the patch should be accomplished as soon as I would get the opportunity to put my hands on the stuff again, hopefully the next weekend. As previously stated, the incoming patch would feature several enhancements, model changes and significant fps improvements (including bug fixes). The current status of the 'US Models' is quite advanced, they still only need a couple of decent 'wound textures' before being completely finished. The major feature of the incoming patch is the cancellation of several scripts that are not really essential in-game, and which are behind the lag caused in some missions, however, a few scripts would be kept to make almost all of the official/no-official missions the most enjoyable possible. Unfortunately, BN tracers cause some serious compatibility issues with some of BIS 'scripts', as far as I remember, you might especially notice that with the 4th/5th Resistance missions. Well seen, this might hopefully be improved. Including new features, scripts, menu actions and other little things are indeed, somehow exciting and make feel the game much different, but please keep in mind that these 'things' are in almost all of the cases, the major source of the lag in-game, our main objective is since a couple of months, to keep the game the smoother possible, though. Anyways, thank you for your patience and support everyone, stay tuned. Regards Thunderbird84

Thanks for the kind words, glad you appreciate the new woodland units (and thanks once again to Codeblue's fellas), as mentioned in the last pages, the incoming patch would include 2 configs that would allow you to choose between ACU & BDU models. Btw, the woodland camo is actually still in use, even if the ACU is getting progressivly used instead of the BDU, the transition between both camos/equipments should be completely accomplished within a couple of months (2007), though. Almost all of scripted tracers would be simply disabled to avoid lag issues during huge battles, and they would be replaced by 'BIS' tracers Fx. (Excluding choppers & Jet fighters tracers). That's nearly impossible to do, (in-game as well as in real life), give it a try once again. If we would get the opportunity and the chance to get our hands on Codeblue's new infantry models (cheers to B.B), then we would go for their helmet, and will try to enhance several things (plus another little surprise, cheers to MIG_25), but I'm afraid nothing could be done until the next 2 weeks because of some real life duties. SCAR's Sukhoi is in my judgement, one of the best jet fighters models ever carried out for OFP, we would probably include it if we'd get the necessary time to enhance a couple of minor things (cockpit, MFDs... etc) and of course, only with the author's permission. As already answered, (page 57) : Envisaged to include 'BIS parachutes' more than once but withdrew it due to the lack of informations about the current 'Parachutes' being used by the US Army but we would certainly put back BIS 'circular' parachutes. Once again, thanks for the kind words and for your patience. Regards Thunderbird84

Hi everyone, Due to the complaints about the last pics showing the US soldiers update, I decided to rework'em completely *once again* by basing myself on Codeblue's Infantry 3D models (Thanks to Dave8 for his kindness) and special thanks for the advices everyone. (public'n private ones). [*]Realistic and detailed woodland camo pattern. (Thanks to STGN for the basic texture). [*]Realistic human body and authentic equipment (Magazine pouches, grenades pouches, Body armor... etc). [*]New hands models (Thanks to williec). /Some soldiers have gloves, some others don't have as well as some models have kneepads and some other don't have. I hope this time, everyone would be satisfied with'em. Cheers, that would be really appreciated. Regards Thunderbird84

US woodland soldiers (Hopefully the final version). [*]Removed the heavy body armor. [*]Added 'mud' and 'dust' on pants. [*]Edited the camo pattern. etc... Rifleman (Magazines pouches, grenades pouches, 2 x canteens). Grenadier (..., + M203 pouches). Medic (..., + Medical backpack). Several changes have been carried out and as already said, more variants would be available soon (with/without camelback, with/without kneepads... ), anyways, I hope everyone would be satisfied with the new changes this time, if not, just wait'n see'em in game. :-) Regards TB84

I just confirm what Ebud said: the 'remake' of the US soldiers is mainly caused by the complaints about the fact that almost all of actual 'Infantry Models' look 'thin', [+ a couple of other inaccuracies...]. well... maybe the previous screeshots weren't good enough to show how the models do really look in-game too, Here are more shots (in-action): Handguns don't have any tracers. Envisaged. This can be easily done indeed, but the point is that 'Franze apache' wouldn't be 'Franze apache' without all of its MFDs and without the rest of scripted instruments, though. Moreover, the weapons system is scripted too, and that cause a certain lag in-game, especially during huge battles. Regards Thunderbird84

Thanks for the kind words everyone, 'glad you appreciate'em, and the same is actually being done on the ACU and Special Forces troops (Both camos), I would hopefully try to come up with a couple of screenshots as soon as they would be quite decent to be shown, heh. ;-) I'm afraid there's nothing I could do, I just never dealed with Linux, but all I can say so far, is that the MP side would be much improved and would undergone intensive Beta-tests. Thanks. Regards Thunderbird84

Hi, After some thought and experimentation, I have decided to rework completely the US Army Personnel Models (BDU Camo) by basing myself on DMA Human model (Thanks to Sanctuary and to Williec), because the previous US Infantry models (Shown on ofp.info a couple of days ago) just weren't that satisfying in my judgement (Due to several technical inaccuracies). Here are some shots of the new US Army Soldiers (Beta) that would hopefully be included to the next incoming patch. (that would include various random variants : with/without Backpack, with/without Goggles, with/without kneepads to increase the models variety in-game.) Well, Franze Apache is pretty well done and very detailed but it's one of the few addons that need all of its scripts to work propely in game, especially because of its complex weapons system. Haven't mentioned it but it has been taken out. Thanks for the kind words and no worries about the FOV, it would be changed as well. Regards Thunderbird84

Hi all, The T-90 Doesn't cause any lag as long as it is used without the scripts that come with it. Thank you. ->Franze's Apache/Longbow helicopters replaced by Marco-Polo's to reduce the lag during huge battles, due to the amount of necessary scripts needed by Franze helicopters., and Marco's Helicopters are that bad, they are quite decent imho. Envisaged to include 'BIS parachutes' more than once but withdrew it due to the lack of informations about the current 'Parachutes' being used by the US Army, we would certainly put back BIS 'circular' parachutes then. Officially, soldiers use the firearms they are supposed to receive. Res units might get the RPK-47 (From The WWIII mod if they would grant persmission), but wait'n see. ;-) Heh, I would have liked it'd be mine but it has been done by the REM mod (a-christ) though, as mentioned in the news post ->(Thanks to the REM/Combat mods for the vulcan model). I do not want to start a flame-war on which one is better than another one, both of them look very good in my judgement and both seem to be authentic, but Denorc disagrees about supporting us as long as RHS models are used in the FFUR Mod, and that simply makes no sense to me. There is no competition between both mods and there would never be, simply because both of them don't have the same objectives, whereas we are trying to upgrade 'Operation Flashpoint' by enhancing its main aspects (greatly supported and encouraged by the community), the great CSLA mod is mainly focused on representing 'virtually' the military forces of a nation, by carrying out 'high quality' models and missions. I'm sure Olemiss didn't mean to be so harsh, he's just trying to keep the thread going on topic. Anyways, thanks everyone for the kind words, we would try to accomplish the patch before I'd have to leave again. Regards Thunderbird84

It is possible indeed to mount various sights on different weapons, the principle of the script is quite simple and very light because it simply replaces a model by another one (which is already preset in the config), and the animation used to 'mount/dismount' the wanted scope is especially chosen to hide the transition period. More informations would be available soon. Regards Thunderbird84
