    FFUR-SLX 2007 2.0

In terms of gaming, that might be very interesting but realistically speaking, I'm afraid an US/Iraqi conversion would not be representative enough of the real conflict, since several countries are/were implied. Moreover, unlike a 'Sino/US or Russian/US conflict', both sides would risk to be unbalanced due to the major difference between the two armies in question, a fact to take into consideration to stay on OFP's storyline. Though, I'm not saying that this will not be "done" for sure, it is just that I have some projects in mind at the moment, and they are both already started since a couple of days. ;] Regarding the current FFUR '85 (2008 Edition): I will make sure to keep the same OFP's feeling, but this pack would include some little new features. (Excluding the basic key features [AI, Effects, Sounds, Animations, Models, Values]). If you have any suggestion or model addition to suggest, feel free to post it here, just make sure they fit with '85's era. regards, TB

    FFUR-SLX 2007 2.0

Hi everyone, I would like to inform you about the current status of FFUR, it is simple: Unlike what has been previously stated, there would be no project for ArmA platform since there are already several skilled people carrying out mods and addons in the same spirit than FFUR's. Regarding Operation Flashpoint, in my judgement, even being quite old, it still represents a great editing platform that could be exploited more. In this regards, I envisage to prepare some projects, but it would only depend on people's opinion and taste. Those I actually have in mind would be more about: - A patch for the current Pack. (FFSX 2007) And probably: [*] An upgraded woodland '85 pack to respect BIS original theme. [*] Probably a chinese conversion (USA vs China/2008) conflict (Due to the raising of China in several major sectors nowadays), it would depend on some factors, though. (Realistic - gear and loadout/ Ammunition values. - Model replacements (Weapons, Tanks, Vehicles, APCs, Aircrafts, Troops) - Realistic effects and scripts (SLX scripts [Dragging, AI tactics, voices...], explosions, dust... etc) - Name changes (for the Sino-US conflict). Regards. TB

    FFUR-SLX 2007 2.0

Hi everyone, Sorry for the long delay, I have been quite busy lately finishing a bunch of administrative papers since I made the very difficult decision to leave the military life and join the civilian sector again. Although things haven't been easy the last weeks, I'm still trying to organize my life a little better. Regarding the modding scene, I must admit that I slightly lost the thread but I hope things would get better within the next incoming days. Nonethless, my head is full of ideas and I hope time would be in my side. To be honest, I was expecting to see a completely empty OFP forums but surprisingly and happily, things didn't turn out as I had imagined, heh. Thank you very much for your ongoing support. FFUR is not dead... yet. Sincerely, yours TB

Increasing the dispersion values imply in making the AI inaccurate at short distances, I will try to tweak a bit some config values but with no guarantee of success. Regarding the 'super AI' option, maybe you should give it a try. Yes, it is envisaged to release 1 Full Pack regrouping both. Implementing this feature requires the modification of all vehicle models, which is definitely impossible: _ Need to have all models in MLOD format, since converting ODOL files to MLOD does break a huge amount of selections. _ Need all authors permissions to edit their models, but the problem is that almost all of them left OFP's community or are no more active. I wonder why BIS didn't implement this feature in ArmA, since it has been shown to be possible with OFP. Glad you fixed it, seamingly this line has been taken out due to an error message in some missions, but you can live with it as long as it doesn't cause any serious trouble. Yes, sure. Simply delete the following files (if they are available) from your @ffsx2007\dta\ folder: _Data.pbo _Data3d.pbo _Hwtl folder By the way, I would like to let you know that it was a big pleasure to work on this FFUR patch, closely followed and supported by a bunch of dedicated fellas. But I'm afraid I have to leave for some weeks, real life is calling me back. Thank you very much. Sincerely, yours, Tarik G. aka Thunderbird84

Yes, it is the same view used by the GRAA MOD, it was very inspiring. If you want to use a sky MOD with FFUR, then download the sky file you want, extract your 'wanted sky' newdata files to \@ffsx2007\newdata folder and overwrite the previous files (.paa; .pac; .p3d). Delete '@ffsx2007\dta\data.pbo + @ffsx2007\dta\Data3d.pbo + HWTL folder', And finally launcher the FFUR .exe file (Launch the MOD.exe). Or wait, I have an easier way, simply download SamotH little pack, it is very well done and features a lot of installation's options, follow its instructions to get things properly installed and running efficiently. Antivirus programs sometimes recognize 'safe programs' as viruses, you should not worry, though. I think the links would work with firefox if you Right-click and Save As ... Weird, logically this should work since, I didn't disable slx artillery system as far as I remember. If it has been done then it means that one of the thousand code lines have been taken out to figure out a compatibility issue between both Mods (SLX/FFUR) because some changes have been needed for this purpose. Open your .cpp, find class man: land. Get a look at extCameraPosition[]={.... and finally replace the current values by extCameraPosition[]={0.25,-0.1,-1.4}; Make sure to convert the .cpp file to .bin In real life, there is simply no way to get so close to an enemy, you see this kind of 'stuff' only in movies. Even artillery special forces who have as mission, to designate objectives for Artillery pieces, don't get so close. Regards, TB

The links work fine here, but here are another mirrors: Mirror - 2 (Filefront) Mirror - 3 (Thanks to Njmatrix) As stated in the configs readme, the light confg disables SLX features to gain in terms of performance since this config is intended to low systems. It works as a simple FFUR 2007. Thank you all for the kind words and feedbacks, Regards, TB

Since the model's unfinished, you have to live with that now, though still you can press 'v' and get another view, slightly better than the current one. ;] regards, TB

If you compare the IOTV vest with the current one, you wouldn't notice too much of difference, I think people can live with that, even if it might slightly bother some US militaries. ;] Thank you all for the nice words! regards, TB

Don't bother yourself with such many questions, you don't have to uninstall any pack, just install the new one, and the new installer would make the necessary changes by overwriting the old files. Regards, TB

The FFUR-SLX 2007 2.5 (New Version) patch is different from the previous one (FFUR-SLX 2007 2.5) that has been released a few days ago, but if you have installed the previous one then you can install this one without uninstalling the other one, The most important thing to keep in mind, is that you should have the FFUR-SLX 2007 2.0 before performing the installation of the patch. :] Regarding this issue, I think there is 'no official' information about it since it seems that things tend to differ from Regiments/Divisions/Units... I included the patch that appeared to be the most common one in real life photos. Regards, TB

Cheers for the nice words, I think that OFP is a great game with a huge potential, much more than what people think, I just try to do what I can with the best of what this community has to offer. ;] Welcome back Rooney and thanks for the kind words, Regarding the conversion of the MOD to a desert theme, would be indeed, very interesting since it would reflect an aspect of nowadays military reality, but I'm afraid the free time at my disposal would be kind of limited to begin such a huge project. Thanks for the suggestions but I'm afraid they come a bit too late. Moreover, I think that there are enough of added 'extra' models at the moment. Oh and by the way, a little present: Link FFUR-SLX 2007 2.5 PATCH (New Version) - (Thanks to OFP.info) Mirror - 1 (Thanks to GOL clan) Requires FFUR-SLX 2007 2.0 FFUR-SLX 2007 2.0 Mirror - 1 (OFP.bmj.pl) Mirror - 2 (OFP.info) Mirror - 3 (njmatrix) Special thanks to the following people for their great support in Beta testing the project: - JdB - SamotH - Ase290406 - Big-Rooney - Blazin - murkz - njmatrix - Jakob - marcomio -Ofpdeadeye for publishing the news on ofp.info And thanks to Macser, Lamentin and Vix for providing us their Stryker even before its official release. Have fun Sincerely, yours Thunderbird84

The flag issue is fixed and the IOTV vest is not really a new model, just some adjustements here and there, rather wait and see. ;] I have a script that works perfectly but I don't expect to include it since this would break several BIS missions, it would make it too hard to hit strykers. The way the ECP mod included their voices is too complex to be used in FFUR, since the scripts's architecture is not similar in both Mods. I think the current 'voices' feature is good enough to keep it as it is actually. Truthfully, I do agree with you about this point but we should trust Franze because he knows very well what he makes. Yes, as stated in one of my previous posts, there is an FFUR Full pack that is envisaged (Full pack 2.0 + Patch 2.5.5) that would include a list of 'Weapons/Ammo classes' and 'Models classes'. Solus included an enhanced version of GroupLink II scripts, which are actually called Grouplink III, they feature a huge amount of AI changes and improvements and are lag free. I slightly edited'em in order to make them fit with BIS missions storyline. The current artillery sounds aren't the same ones we used for grenades, but if you dislike them then feel free to send me yours, I would greatly appreciate to implement'em if they would be in a certain light better. Thank you all for the nice words and support, Sincerely, yours TB

Yes, this will be changed with the incoming patch. This has been fixed for the incoming patch as well. According to wikipedia, the 'aimed range' of the RPG-29 doesn't exceed 500 m, it is very hard to aim with rocket launchers in real life , because keeping it perfectly stable is almost impossible, and that consequently affect your rocket's trajectory, hitting a target at 100 m might sometimes be quite hard. By the way, regarding the incoming patch, I would like to let you know that the Stryker would finally be incorporated as replacement instead of the M113 since several hours were spent to get it working properly in-game. The Model is awesome, Macser and Lamentin did a great job bringing it to this status. With Franze's permission, I also included MAS amazing Super Hornet Model instead of the AV-8, since there were several 'unresolvable' issues with the Harrier, especially with the model and the weapons models. The Super Hornet is a great replacement, features a huge amount of friendly cpu scripts and works perfectly. The Model is so far one of the most realistic carried out thus far. Regards, TB

Seamingly, You got the Beta version which was exclusively intended to Beta-Testers, this patch is still unreleased, though. However, I can ensure you that this bug would be fixed for the final version. No worries. regards, TB

Actually there is no Weapon/Ammo list but I will manage to add one to the 'Final Full Pack' which would be regrouping the 'Full pack + Patch 2.5.5'. Seamingly, your tank didn't get any damage which means that you have been able to get big advantage over enemy tanks, not in terms of Armor, but I would rather say in terms of 'Tactical Positioning'. Believe in my experience, carrying a Body armor/or just even the light combat waistcoat, assault rifle, full magazines, helmet, camel back/canteen, ANPVP (Gaz Mask), rangers and sometimes a radio (In the french army, due to the limitations of the TRPP-39, we are still used to carry the oldy TRPP-13 during patrol manoeuvres, which is quite heavy) makes a serious difference when it comes to sprinting, even being well-trained, heh. Truthfully I find more realistic the way Solus implemented the model's damage process since aircrafts don't systematically turn black after being hit. By the way, regarding the incoming release, Macser/Lamentin have kindly provided us the enhanced version of the stryker, which looks nice and authentic so far. But unfortunately, at the moment It can't be used as model replacement instead of the M113 due to the gunner's view limitation since the optic doesn't properly work. Regards, TB

Thanks for reporting the flag issue but no worries about it since the last post's shots show the WIP version. AI scripts are very condensed and they need each others to work correctly, the amount of work needed to carry out that might be tedious and complex. Regarding the incoming patch, if there are some people interested in testing it then feel free to send me a pm. Thanks. Regards, TB

There are good grounds for saying this, but in spite of what is generally believed, Spetsnatz Forces are devided in several units specialized in different kind of tasks. Unlike FSB Troops which are designed to combat terrorism mostly in Urban areas, GRU units can operate autonomously in extrem warfare conditions. Those represented in FFUR refer to GRU units controlled by the military intelligence service. In terms of equipment, they don't carry the same gear and loadout. Regards, TB

Universal: It is logical to get such errors after having combined a bunch of mods that aren't supposed to work alongside others. To be honest, I don't see the point of reporting errors that basically, aren't related to the MOD since you tried to make several mods all work simultaneously. Please respect the instructions and make some research in the forums for further information. The only and safety way to combine mods consists of editing the main config files, this requires some skills but is highly possible. Regarding the US Army Models: [*]Slightly enhanced the models by including: - IOTV vest. - Realistic Magazine pouches, 1st kit Medical pouches... - Now special forces models look different from regular troops. regards, TB

FFUR is not supposed to be used with other MODs, it works as standalone with its own .pbo/.bin files. The issue you are experiencing seem to be caused by the fact you combined several Mods and this might cause some trouble. Have you tried by keeping other Mods's configs? Otherwise, there is nothing I can do. regards, TB

Indeed. Before you start, I would like to point out that the easiest way to replace the song by yours is to unpbo the 'ffur_music' folder. <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">ffur_music\main.ogg Make sure that your song file will be in .ogg format/Stereo/44000 KHZ, Sound editing tools usually set these values by default but make sure to check them out in order to avoid to get any trouble in-game. regards, TB

Thanks for the tip, I pboed some files using an older version of mikero's tool but withdrew this way since it was intended to Armed Assault, I wasn't expecting mikero's tool to be behind the decoding of the .pbo file, though. regards, TB
