    Problems updating flashpoint in winxp

    Thx that worked
  2. I just got winxp SP1 and did a brand new install all my programs installed & updated OK until OpF. Â Installed OpF + Gold(1.3) + Resis(1.75) Now i try to run patch 1.46 it gives file errors for some mission files in the \missions and \MPmissions folder. These are the same CD's as used to work in my Win98, but i have got a new Sony DVD/CD. I guess i try the copy CD to HD method as described in threads below? AthlonXP VIA266 4in1 4.45 Sony DVD/CD Geforce4ti Hercules Gamesurround Muse

    Ofp crashes and reboots computer

hmmmm you upgraded........After i upgraded my system from a duron800 and GeForce2MX to an AthlonXP and GeForce4Ti i found my system became unstable in tough missions (sound lockups esp.) my old 250W power supply could not cope. I got a 400W power supply and now my computer is instantly super stable!
  4. I spent over a month with OFP and to make it stable i had to reduce the AGP settings and sound acceleration, also latest M/Board BIOS and VIA4in1 driver helped alot. But still was not fully stable in many extreme sound situations I have an upgraded Duron system to an AthlonXP with original 250W power supply - i bought a 400W replacement power supply and all my problems are now fixed!

    Scratchy sounds & lockups solution

Put a 400W power supply to replace my 250W one, problem fixed!!!!!!!!!! Â Now can run 4x 128aperture and full sound acceleration with no lockups!!!!!!!! (P.S. my registry has no turbo entry for creative) AthlonXP 2000+ Geforce 4 Ti4200 VIA 266 M/B 384 sdram Sblive! value

    Very strange problem

It was in helicopter flying that my sound card lock ups were worst! Try turning the hardware sound accel. down in the DirectX control panel, easier than pulling cards out of your machine:)
  7. I had lots of lockup troubles with SBlive and VIA motherboard i thought i fixed with low AGP aperture and 1x and latest BIOS,  i even eventually went to the AC97 onboard sound and chucked the SBLive and it was much better (although occasionally looping & scratchy sound ) But now i just played NAM,69 and SEBnam2 (really good BTW) and the same sound lock ups appear  short answer to problem set multimedia>audio>advanced properties>performance hardware acceleration slider a notch or two down at a time till it becomes stable.  Can also do from the DirectX>sound icon in control panel. My sound now has no scratchiness or looping and game is smoother/faster and doesn't lockup!

Loss of sound and hard crash

I had exact same problem........ guess what i got AthlonXP,VIA M/B,GF4 ti,SBLive! also. To be 100% stable i had to set BIOS AGP aperture to 8Mb and 1x mode. Also try get the latest BIOS for your M/Board - if it still crashes try PCI latency patch 0.19 http://www.georgebreese.com/net/software/

Lockups with amd and via m/b...arrgghhhhh

My last system was a Duron/ASUS A7pro-VIA133/SBlive system and was fine......... but this AthlonXP/SpacewalkerAK32-VIA266/SBLive has been a total pain. I just found a newer BIOS for my board that seems to do the same thing as the PCI latency patch (which is lucky as they don't work with each other) - but i still need to use 1x AGP and 8mb AGP aperture for OpF.

Lockups with amd and via m/b...arrgghhhhh

I have 384 ram so it should be OK to run 64/128 aperture. I have the latest 4in1VIA driver but have not upgraded the M/B bios (i just bought board this month). I *think* the trouble is the SBLive/VIA compatibility problems, Â they reckon the SBlive "takes control of the PCI bus". Everything works 100% now but it is annoying to need to reboot and set the bios depending what i want to do

Lockups with amd and via m/b...arrgghhhhh

I had one week of hell then thought i'll look at Op.Falsh site and that helped. Then in the Airborne mission of OF it just refused to play all the way through.. after considering throwing my machine out the window i did a big internet search and found the PCIlatency patch. This actually helped my machine in everything and OF is finally 100% stable (still needs 8mb aperture) Weird thing is some other games need 64+ aperture else THEY crash Arrgghhh

    A few tank problems

I got complaints with tank driving also i use OF 1.46 and resis 1.90 I have the same problem that i have to go to commander and click on ground to make the tank (sometimes but not always!?) go somewhere. It seems worst with a 2 man crew ie.you + AI driver. I normally try to have an AI commander and driver and i play gunner and its just OK. But its not PE http://panzer.jowood.de/~my/PE.htm Using the keypad to tell the driver where to go is extremely annoying as the AI driver swings back and forwards, can't it be changed so that when the player uses the keypad he overrides the AI path finding routine?
  13. After two weeks of hell getting Op.Flash to run stably i thought i share what i found out I have the dreaded combination of a Sblive and VIA amd chipset do a search on the internet about its compatibilty problems! Anyway to run OF totally stable i use in BIOS AGP 1x and 8mb aperture AND the PCIlatencypatch v0.19 This little patch is magic to my PC i have no data problems whatsoever with it (i make game mods etc). http://www.georgebreese.com/net/software/ System Athlon 2000XP MBoard VIA 266 Vcard Gforce ti4200
