yeah i agree, but make sure that the "Said" outpost\hq\radio stations and what not are there in rl..no fun recreating real missions in a fake place. because iv found and know of tons of missions that i can create that has to do with fallujah, so aslong as there is actual military instalations in their currect place in respect to the actual fallujah city! so again please move the airport to its currect location please!!!!!! hey fella's first of good luck out there to any PMC\PSC and any serving soldiers! anyways IMHO i understand where many of you PMC's come from, and so what if they want to do there job but want to make a lil more money doing it. after all no matter how long you live in "Combat", you still eventually have to return from war an live in "Real Life"(just like any soldier)! so why not try to make a few extra bucks for your hard earned time spent in the line of duty! I was never a PMC\PSC but i know a few who are friends with my familly, one inpaticular is police officer here where i live. he is a good honest man who served as a Airborne Ranger for many years here in the U.S. and has 2 kids and a wife, he aint some money hungry...blood thursty hired killer...him and his team or unit or whatever they call them selfs are normal guys who just use the skills they have learned while serving their country in the Army(and one from his unit that i know of that was USMC Force Recon), and applyed them same skills to being a PMC...working for the same county they did while serving in the "Official" Army\USMC..ext. expect like someone already said...the only difference is instead of "Uncle Sam" signing your pay check, someone else is(but like the government..or who ever signed my pay check in the mil) the money that i got was hard earned money that came from the hard working ppl of my country...all in all its still some lazy guy in some office behind a desk that writes checks(whether in uniform with the us military patch on his shirt, or wether the guys has a PMC patch on his shirt)! and like said aswell above, PMC\PSC's have just as strick if not stricker ROE as any soldier from a NATO country! and for those that say what about the Blackwater fella's on all them Youtube Vids...well what about all the guys who did that shit in Vietnam..OIF\EF(iraq\a-stan), and even back in ww2\ww1 whether anyone belives so or not..hell PMC's have been around since the american civial war! and dont forget that like anyone else that gets cought doing shit like that..gets in trouble..and PMC's jsut like Normal\Offical soldiers they can, and do get incriminated for there acts and will serve prision time(or other forms of punishment)! and unlike what everyone thinks its not just us "Evil Americans" that do that shit...every country can suffer that same fate..its not about what...but who! ppl are in control of there own decissions..no one else, not even in the military(well..atleast no one in the military could have forced me to shoot someone in cold blood, unless it was a justified act..like my life....or theirs) and for the vid i saw of the blackwater PMC's in iraq...where they was riding around shooting at civy's....well even offical soldiers(not just u.s. army or usmc guys) but britts\aussies\dutch..ect(yeah even you guys aint perfect) do that shit...but like i said it aint some crazyed Evil American blood thrusty USMC squad, or Britt fella's dieing to mix some blood in with thier tea, for after noon tea time...its individual asswipes that act on thier own(or group of asswipes) and also like some offical military units they may be stationed in the middle of no where, with no one watching them, and i can promise in the situation that many of yous on here would be doing things you shouldnt be doing unless you have 110% contal over your actions..and are not a moron...and it dont make ppl bad if they screw up..like for example(and this is my personal life before the military so please no desrespecting comments about this) but before i joined the military i use to do bad things like steal shit..sell shit..smoked hella weed...and much more but its because i simply choose to allow others to dictate my actons..and be a moron, but i changed and got my life back(plus i was only a very young teen\kid pretty much) so say i was in iraq and i let others dictate my actions..n i killed some civy's, yeah..im at fualt but that dont make me some crazed azz killer..what if i had seen so much and been throw alot and just was unstalbe? yeah still its my fault and no way around that but that dont mean im a cold blooded\heatless killer, i just need help...and btw its war...war is a drug in its own right..and i can tell you from my personal experance...drugs change even the best and most honest ppl in the world...so does war! well thats all and yeah what i wrote may not make sence or may seem hipacritical but thats because its hard to explain in words what im actualy tryinhg to say, so if i made a point that makes no sence please share...and incase no ones gets my point...MY POINT IS: no one is perfect and you cannt judge them all the same..or by others opinions of another person! you have a brain use it..make your own judgments and actions! and dont let others make them for you! hey buddy thanks for the reply, and no worrys on the Dry Dock and ext. but if you need help let me know ill help anyway i can! and about the U.S. Navy LST or whatever i really dont know what is what..i was USAF so we stayed away from the sea(well not really but ya know what i mean haha)! but i'd be thrilled to death for any modern\currently in use U.S. Navy vessel! Btw so glad to here about your future plans...this will be a well watched and followed topic! and yes i feel what you are saying about the textures, i like you, dont care either what it looks like cause like you said im interested in the actual use of the ships and what they can bring to the game, plus its not like it would be hard to re-texture them afterwards if need be. and thanks for the info on the ship and the falklands war..much appreciated! its a very interesting little known subject that even the u.s. military learned from as goes the same for every war fought! Anyways as you still may know from talking to me on msn awhile ago im very "unskilled" at modeling and addon making, however as i tell everyone if your willing to work on this for this comunity then im too willing to help out anyone in anyway i can! again i have limited...very limited skills but i can do basic textures(very basic) and can atleast do the bitch work for anyone needing someone to do stuff like all the re-writing the texture paths and so on! so on that note holla if ya need me! yeah like Darkhorse said this is amazing that once again the arma limitations have been beaten...so mad props to you bud! btw this is a "British Army Ship" right? the one that was decomissioned in 05'? Also just figured i'd ask but any possible chance to get an american version of an LST..im sure with a simple edit it can be made as most LST's look very simular? but then again i was never in the navy and i never saw any LST's up close before other then in one joint training op, and in movies lol which is the reason im interested in this specific ship..IIRC i saw this ship(or was suppost to be this ship) on some good move about the falklands War, and it got blown up or sumthiung? maby someone can enlighten me better lol! anyways outstand work...this is god sent! yes...an OA version!!! does that mean that every building\compound\walls will be from OA! cause i really hate using maps with tons of other addons....even on my $3000 rig! not that OPX stuff aint nice...its just why use opx when you can use the better quility OA objects inwhich are made for this type map plus they are all enterable...and im sure if you need you can reskin the OA buildings to give them that more yellow-ish tan found on the buildings in that AO in real life! yeah please dont make the jungle less dence! this is the only map that iv seen that looks like the real vietnam jungles\terrain..and not just for arma2..but for every vietnam game iv ever seen\played! for the red mud, yeah theres many different colored mud\clay\dirt! from what my uncle said the red mud is actually clay...and i think he said it gets turned that color from the sun and also i believe has something to do with the vegitation??? but even tho the color is very realistic when compared to my uncles pics..so the "Red Mud" is spot on but maby for the sake of our sanity and blindness(which btw vietnam in full sunlight can be very blinding in RL) maby the red should be toned down i tiny bit! but other then that this is the best vietnam map ever, very realistc, has a great and real "Nam" feel to it. and gives many possibilitys! and btw love the Mission "the lowlands" or sumthing like that..the one where you can freely go throw the map and do what you want in your own order. i hope to see more maps like that! Also to all the people saying stuff like..."i cant see the ppl trying to shoot me, or i never get to do anything in an egagement but shoot blindly in the jungle" well...thats the point and thats about how most engagments in Nam went..and my uncle said you would almost never ever see or find any bodys of the enemy and half the time you didnt know who u was fighting(NVA\VC) and even when they planed ambushes on you, many times you could just as easly suprise them! and from the pics my uncle showed me, you guys would be amazed at just how dence the jungles was..you cant see 20ft infront of you, and you cant move easly with out choping your way throw the jungle..my uncle described it as trying to walk throw giant "wooden\plant" Spider Webs! as everything is a mess of tangled thick trees...bushes\plants interwoven with thick-had to cut Vines(with purty green tree vipers in it..lol so watch witch vines you grab, cause some grab back)! hey man map looks great...dont want to say too much or ill end up talking\writing for an hour, so pretty much i back what "Miles Teg" and everyone else says...but you seem like your working on that, so its really too early to coment on things as we dont know what you may have in store:) which so far is beautiful enough! but yeah my only grips is make it 100% realistic as possible, make sure all FOB\AirBase\Base's are acurate meaning build them using the satmap(and of course like anything else on a map of RL, arma2 dont come with all buildings\objects needed, so of course it wont be too authentic, but most things can be worked around)! also anyway to replace the arma1 defences\bunkers and what not with the arma2 ones..IMHO arma1 bunkers\sandbags look like shit! well thats all for now. will let you get more done before i grip some more lol! EDIT: Any chance to expand the map to the west a bit so that we can have the Airport in its actual location..would be better and more realistic and it also gives a player more playing time as it being in the city makes transport by helo unreasonable in some cases..where if its out where it should be then it makes helo rides into the city funner! also please add in the FOB GOld(i believe its just west of the city???) thanks for the reply bud! and before i wrote this response i had called up my uncle to tell him i passed on what he told me too, and i read to him your responce and i can swear i could hear him choking up a bit! and he said, even tho he doubts he will actually come and join us on here and play, he said he will always be happy to help out in any other way...just pm me with any questions or anything you may need, may you need his or my help! OnTopic: thanks for the reply on my questions...glad to here! and if we get them csar birds...rest ashored there will be tons of nicly made missions using them, and hell i know of actual accounts inwhich i can make missions from, that would include nearly everything(units\air\ground) in the uns mod! btw love the layout of the airbase on fob..one suggestion for the airbase if i may! it would probly be nice to including "parking zones" for the aircraft...maby sumthing like this http://www.gingerb.com/VIETNAM%20Binh%20Thuy%20Seawolf%20322%20on%20Flight%20Line.jpg meaing the area to the left that has the sign on it that says "26B"! and since them things are already in your mod it should be easy to implament along the open area near the left end of the airbase(by the 2 hangers or adjacent from the hangers next to the housing area? but again its just a suggestion it looks perfect how it is now! good luck gents, and thanks again for this alsome mod! yeah i totally agree..dont make defoiated! my uncle as some of you may remeber me saying from previous posts was in the army and IIRC was in the 4th infantry, then became a sniper in a LRRP team on one of his later tours! and from all the hundreds of pics he showed me..some of which was actually taking by him and the LRRP team of enemy objects(like one was from a mission he did where they had to scout a supply depo along the "Ho Chi Minh trail"), and i can tell you that the guys of unsung took it easy on there jungle island(lowlands map)! as he said most engagments his team encountered was on accident on most occasions(and he said most times even the NVA\VC was just as suprised as his team) and that it happened so close most times that the pointman could stab the enemy pointman lol! and he told very bone chilling true stories of hand to hand combat that they did(and i dont lie about this..it was creepy shit he talked about..stuff u dont see on the history channel\docs\movies)! and on top of that he had another 3 hour talk about missions and shit he did while being the platoons "Tunnel Rat"...thats a storie for another day cause i doubt this comunity cases about my uncle and his crazy stories of nam! but yeah my uncle was very impressed about all this, and even tho he knew nothing about arma and all that, i had to..in a 1 long speech explain what arma was..what the comunity and these forums were, and how it links and supports togather(comunity + BIS)! and i explained how the "Unsung Mod" is not a paid game developers company and you guys are just pretty much some friends who like many many other bi comunity members\mods do this for free and for fun! and i know..i know this is an extremly long and irrelevant to this thread, but......on behalf of my uncle(who requested me to say this!!!) DISCLAIMER: This can be a long, and boaring\lame speech kinda thing lol, but was requested to be said to you guys at the unsung mod team, on behalf of my uncle! so to the Unsung Mod-From the words of my Uncle Ronnie: many people dont understand the importances of our history, and how we learn from the past! and even tho this is a game, like many other war games(i guess he meant like the d-day invasion games) it allows people to see and understand what young guys(well he meant young at that time haha) like him and the thousands of other nam-vets went through! and it sheds light on that fact of what it means to fight for the man next to you! (as he told me) most wars fought like ww2 was a war that gave the u.s. a reason to fight..a reason to be patriotic! where as vietnam(as he explained) after the first week of being in country, that whole "patriotic and fighting for freedom" BS goes right out the window,(and as he put it) it is one of the first wars where soldiers fought for 2 reasons, and 2 reason ONLY...the first is for your life, secound is for the life of the men next to you..as unlike many other wars your in a place that has absolutly nothing to do with the u.s.(whether ppl believe so or not) so your not fighting for the freedom of your country..noir are you fighting for anything that the u.s. should be involved in! so all in all my uncle just wanted to say thank you for what you are doing, and whether you guys know it or not, your doing a great deal for anyone who served in nam(as by getting ppl inteserted and involved and forther more giving ppl knowlege of what soldiers did in nam..and so all those that served and died in nam can get the respect they deserve! and i would like to give my thx to you guys as i now know what my uncle meant by this game gives ppl more knowlege on nam..as since iv been interested in nam(since a1 release of uns mod)i have learned alot more of what these guys went throw, and i now have more respect! and forther more, i can proudly say that since when i was young my uncles stories of working with the "Jolly Greens(elite & original of the CSAR)" had inspired me to do the bit of combat search & rescue(CSAR) i did in my limited serve in the united states air force! and i can proudly say i got to serve with the modern desendents of the jolly green giants\pedros(who are still very much alive and kicking)! END Of Lame Speech lol @Unsung team: Anyways i got a few questions: 1. as you may have read i served in the usaf with the csar fella's and so that gives me the feeling to want to play as my nam-counter parts..so on that note!!! any chance to see some HH-53B's or HH-3's in nam-camo paint job? and maby a modified\re-skined air crewmen to make PJ's or some other type of csar ground force unit to go with the JGG's Helos? 2.another question? any plans for some fast attack jets or sumthing that the FAC's can call in for CAS? 3. this one kind of goes with the second question but any chance for Napalm..that like stated\reqested above can actually burn for awhile and burn away vegitation and trees..to clear for quick insertion\exstraction??? well thats it for now, im sure ill have more questions and requests but for now im at work so i wont bother ya guys too much lol! p.s. sorry for this long annoying post, have a great day and keep up the outstanding work fella's! very nice...shame there isnt somthing(like a module or ext.) inwhich u can signal down or call a taxi..kinda like in GTA! any chance that we can see somthing like that from ya mike??? as a suggestion it could kinda be like how when using the som module you can call in for a transport..and a helo comes and pics you up! so it should be possible but i have no idea on how to go about it..i hope you do lol! yeah i understand exactly where your coming from and what you mean! and yeah the reason the fobs wouldnt be thensame back in tora bora is because with the excption of fob andoconda, the operations of tora bora was more of a cordnation and search throw the mountains..meaning all operations in that area had no need for small outpost/firebases because the whole point was not to really show precence of nato troops but to just catch main taliban leaders and the devil himself lol! where as now in kunar, the operations there are to show that "we are here...and we aint taking no shit"! so the use of smaller outposts to over watch key areas is the plan! so yeah you may be right, and what i think now that we are haveing this discusion is that it would probly be best to NOT include any FOB\COP's! not that you or anyone else cant make good ones but DaveP has a good point! it would probly be best to leave it up to the mission makers to create the bases where they need it...as this also works good casue then it dont force someone to lets say...use a base like how i make them in a place where i want them....so instead the other guy can make it how he likes it, where he likes it! cause as iv mentioned in above posts...i hate the fact that on takistan there is already too many pre-possitioned bases..meaning i got to use the bases already there(which IMHO are OFP-ish and are not good), and they are pretty much placed in a way to go with the whole theme of the OA Expansion, and are way too close togather to have user-made bases with out it looking like we are trying to play "king of the hill" on every hill at the same time lol! p.s. if you do not add any\or many bases please add flat enough areas to place some small cops\fobs cause keep in mind fobs and even smaller cops get flated by buldozers(in most situations..even if the dozer has to be flown into a mountain top)! but again this is your map and i was just giving my thoughts...good luck bro cant wait for this! looks great topas! but IMHO i think the square grill looks better, but then again i stare at big rigs all day and i love them older looking "peterbuilt" and "Mac" truck caps(they have sqare grills)! so thats why i feel the square grill is better looking..also it would be 100% original and true to life! but still all in all this is truly beautiful haha Dave,

yeah but the town generator module doesnt build bases first off, and second it also does not place roads like it should IMHO! and im not demanding...im simply giving my feedback, opinions and support as thats what gets maps and other addons done, and i know this cause every addon i make i depend on critisim and feed back to better my addons for others! but i do understand your point, i really do thats why everything i write(and i know it does sound demanding..mybad on that)i try to not seem demanding...but words\text cannot express the truth behind what ppl write..meaing it probly seems like im mad or going crazy like..Give me my damn bases on this map...and do it how i want it or else <with big angry face> lol, but honistly the funny thing is i get so excited about this and many other things i get carryed away(plus i have limited time to write as im at work:p) @Chill and Others..again sorry if i come off wrong in this thread or any other.. and i have tryed making maps and it sucks..i had mine ingame then said the hell with this bitch! lol so mad props too you map makers out there! oh and yeah i agree with Chill xl...i love these style of maps..the only thing i hated about takistan is that its got too many bases(and many of them are too close togather) my idea of a nice map is first of it be realistic and spread out..as afghan is very unpoluated in many places and can be hundreds of miles from an COP to Main Base...and many times can only use helos to deliver supplys\troops! also takistan dont have enough flat areas(well flat enought to place a small outpost\fob in the beautiful mountains!) yeah a small COP on top of a hill, or down in a valley..with 200-300 taliban attacking your COP would be a great and realistic mission(Inspired by the Rl Attack on COP Keating, and the one before that attack in Wanat, Afghan)!!! @Chill: but please try to have the cops\fobs\bases or whatever realistic....and please dont have hescos all retarted looking..meaning with hescos sticking inside other hescos(its really not hard to have them line up perfectly..believe me i do it every day with the sum 50-60 base\fob\cop templates i make!) and when making these said bases\outposts buid them realisticly..just use common sence..like there is not gonna be a fully built brick house\building used as a "TOC\COC", most cases its a tent\netting with a shit load of hesco barriers and sand bags! also most troop housing in them small remote combat outposts are usally just tents\man made wooden structors built outta plywood! and dont forget them alsome cargo containers turned housing lol... but anyways dont think im trying to tell you how to do what you do best, think of it as me just trying to give my 2 cents to help you create your map more realistic! :) oh and also im not trying to clam to be the "god of base\fob builders", i just simply use my actual knowlege and experience(most with the help of my buddys whos been stationed at remote COP's as i never was...i was USAF CSAR so i would have only been stationed at larger type AirBase's\FOB's)! but also one of my many active duty cusins\familly was a army engineer who build a few COP's in a-stan! so if you need any help constucting any kind of base let me know i will be honored to help, and i know many very talented fob templete builders on these forums aswell...and with the new tool that allows you to import editor made bases into visitor this can be easly made possible and my self and many others would be happy to help again thanks for taking the time to make this alsome map, and hope to see it very very very soon...but not too soon, the longer you work on it the better it will be lol! P.s. any other maps u got planed in the future? specificly any remote Afghan areas that contains very few small remote COPs\FOB with maby an airbase in there? if so but you dont have any ideas of where to make it i can give you a few suggestions of places in afghan that will complement you amzing work very well, and can probly provide you with a good satmap and hightmap of the area so that all u have to do is place objects\buildings\veg where it is on the real thing(of course by using the real sat of the area)! looking great buddy! keep it up!!! one suggestion tho..maby for parts that are suppost to be gravel\sand\dirt or what ever, try using some of the takistan textures as it may add a more realistic feel from up close! as right now the ground looks like a bunch of different color blocky patches...dont thats only my opinion! i actually think this looks great i just thought i should give my 2 cents! wow looks very realistic! with your skills i hope to see an actual Afghanistan based map(using real world data, and modeled to exact specs of said afghan terrain), because i believe you have amazing skills as iv watched this thread since you started and im impressed by the outcome and turn out of this map! so just figured i'd ask.....do you have any future plans to create actual afghan terrain??? like i would love to see another proper..but hugh(like the size of BIS Takistan, or bigger) "Northern Afghanistan" map, or even a hugh "Helmand Provence" map!!! but yeah looking good keep it up! Yes this is very promising!!! @Chill xl: Got a question though? Is this map based 100% on the real Tora Bora, or is this map suppost to Replicate\be Inspired by the Tora Bora Area? meaning is this map you are making gonna have all the acurate road networks, vegation\rock placement..and building placement? Also are you using real refferences... like Satellite Maps\Google Earth type stuff, to make your "satmap and Hightmap" for this map? or is it made up\fictional terrain based on simular terrain thats based on the Tora Bora terrain??? IMHO this is perfect for Arma2\OA and will be used by me many times over once released! also this will be a great addition to the Arma2\oa U.S. Navy(to go with the New USS Nimitz WIP Addon)! goodluck and sorry that i can't help, i would if i could but my skills are very limited, but if you need anything easy to do, that may just be annoying to do ill be happy to step in! goodluck and hope to see this out and about in Arma2\OA!!!
