ATI Catalyst 7.5 hotfix for ArmA leak

Anyone running the 7.5 + hotfix drivers w/ a 9800XT AGP? Had the game running good before the patch w/ 6.7 drivers. Reformatted, reinstalled the game, new driver, hotfix... game is crawling. Also vehicles turn into these giant tree like objects. No, I'm not hitting the pipe. Back to 6.7 driver, no trees attacking me, but crawling. P4, 1 gig corsair ram, Asus D875 board, SB audigy II...yeah I know dinosaur.

    Hardware Issues: Tips/Tricks/Solutions

Great post, and the kind of post I think everyone is looking for here. Well, I guess those of us that are nailing down specs for a new machine. I'm done w/ ATI though. My current card (9800XT) had to be replaced twice by ATI, and has never been really stable. When I get a new system I'm going to light it on fire and put it out w/ a hammer. Why did you opt for the Intel chipset as opposed to the Nvidia or ATI?

    Hardware Issues: Tips/Tricks/Solutions

I have pretty much the same setup, w/ 1 gig less of Ram and a ATI 9800 XT (AGP). Curious in regard to the answer to your post. Will post my score, I'm sure you're kickin my ass. Although I'm not getting any stuttering, pretty smooth. Well, that's w/ everything on low, AA disabled etc.

    I enjoy ArmA!

Felt compelled to thank BIS for finally making this game. So, sorry if this clutters the forums. Didn't know where to put it, and yeah, recently got the game (American playing the English version). I may have put OFP aside a few times over the past few years. But, always re-installed it and looked for the latest and greatest addons, and played it again. I played it more than ANY game ever, especially due to the editor. Arma, I'm a pig in doo-doo, it's Christmas. There is nothing like this game. Set up any senario, it is almost never the same twice. Well, at least w/ my missions. AI in this game can scare the crap out of you, when you least expect it. More than once I've had reload and pistol fights by AI that nearly killed me and ended up crawling away. Any other game I have to play multiplayer get that kind of excitment, but w/ a fraction of the realism. Multiplayer... what other realistic game can you play which allows you to run campers over at their flag while honking the horn of a UAZ. *flump!* Thanks BIS, please keep making games like this.

    ArmA at Max settings

I'm in the same situation, and like many, have been waiting for Arma to do so. I'm on a P4, 1G Ram, ati 9800XT card. When I installed Arma Fisher Price called me on the phone and said they wanted their computer back. So, it's time for me too, 3 years ago this machine was top notch. Thanks for nothing BIS! =D Going w/ your same specs, was never happy w/ my ATI card. Going w/ Asus for a board too, and Nvidia all the way. I'm sure Nvidia has issues. But, damn sure ATI does as well. Going to hold off on the duel video card thing, going to see how one is first. Thought I read somewhere (maybe here) SLI is wasted on Arma, or that you must implement a tweak. I don't expect my new machine to max out Arma. I could reinstall OFP and put enough units, waypoints and events to make my processor blow up like a bomb. Always have to keep that in mind in regard to OFP and Arma. I'll be happy to get off some low settings, and switch some stuff on I have turned off.

  7. Yes I know this is a noob question, but easy to get lost in the Wiki and not find what you're looking for, especially when you don't know what it is. Is there a good tutorial (preferably downloadable) for mission editing? I survived since OFP came out making missions in the editor with only very basic knowledge. I'm great with the basics (i.e. waypoints, synchronizing, get in, get out, join, putting ammo in a box... etc), but am absolutely clueless when it comes to scripting and other features in the editor. Clueless... I spent the better part of 3 hours setting up bunkers and arty, beach obstacles, kill zones etc... only to watch my AI invasion force swim around their boats like they're at the kiddy pool or special olympics, instead of get in them. Tried everything I know how, empty boats, AI boats who join... Would be great if someone could point me to a good step by step tutorial relevant to Arma (I see them for OFP). And...I promise to never clog these forums with stupid noob questions. Thanks in advance.

    Sprocket Troubleshooting thread.

BTW... I finally got emailed by sprocket. They sent me what I needed to play the game. Funny thing is, the email arrived the same day as a hard copy I purchased while waiting for a response from sprocket. Oh well... not going to beat up BIS for it. Looks like they were screwed too. Aside that I love the game. If you choose to get the game through sprocket make sure you get: The purchase reference #. License holder name (email address you used to buy the game). CD-key.

    Sand bags and bunkers

Heh, yup just found them. Swear to god they were called sandbag wall, sandbag bunker, and sandbag wedge in OFP. Â Was driving me nuts. So... Sandbag wedge= wall sandbag bunker = fortress straight sandbag wall = wood fence (whaaa?) Still have to figure out which "fence" is a straight sandbag wall. Thanks for the help.
  10. Sorry for this. I've D/led and installed every editor update I can find. Cannot locate sandbags (i.e. walls, bunkers) within the editor. I have street signs, water, every other wall or object you can imagine. I would assume they're under Objects but I've checked everywhere. Yes, I used the search feature here. Everyone seems to have sandbags.

Dolores (miss2) is very very broken

Tried 5 under. Â No blow. Tried 5 on top. Â Same. Haven't tried hitting it w/ a rocket. Â Everytime I get near an ammo crate I get hosed from behind. Very frustrating. Â Only time I get objective completed is when I put all 5 under, along those supports (which as everyone says is a pain in the ass). Â Still doesn't blow. Â Feel like I'm bugged here. Oh yeah, 1.05 sprocket version.

    Hardware Issues: Tips/Tricks/Solutions

P4 3GHZ, 1G of Ram (matched pair corsair), ATI 9800XT, SB AudigyII. Recent format. Anyone running this game with any kind of stability with a ATI 9800XT card? I got the latest drivers, big mistake, less stable than the previous driver. Now running Catalyst 6 drivers, all the setting in ATI control panel down to performance. I'm getting hard locks, where your VPU recover would kick in, but, shut it off. So, it just locks up. Gotta say this is my last ATI card, there isn't a game this card likes aside solitare. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Yes I read the thread, lowering apeture size to 4x. Again thanks in advance.

    Sprocket Troubleshooting thread.

Week after buying game, sent cd key, useless w/o authorization code. Still haven't played the game I purchased. Anyone else have better luck getting support? If so please list who you emailed.

    Sprocket Troubleshooting thread.

Yup, tried pretty much all the options it gives you at this point. Nothing works. I was sent a CD key in a support email, but never sent the confirmation email which would contain the activation number and license holder I should have been sent by softrap. At least that's what I'm guessing. You would think the friggin mushroom who sent the cd key would be aware I still couldn't play the game w/o an activation code. I ordered a hard copy, from England. Wondering what actually gets up and running on my PC first. So far I have spent approx 60.00 bucks trying to play this game. It better be damned good. I'm a grown man. If I was some teenager I'd be on a clock tower with a rifle by now picking off people that looked like software vendors high on mountain dew. This sucks. If you're considering buying a d/led version of this game, and you're impatient and don't like speed dialing your email for a week to see if someone sent you a number in the mail. Read this entire thread and reconsider.
