    random crashes d3d9.dll????

Having the same problem here since the latest hotfix patch, I rolled back to some older nvidia drivers last night and managed to get a good few of hours of gameplay, which hasnt been possible the last couple of days.

    Patch 1.02 Stability Survey

Have a lot of CTD's tonight for the first time since havine the german release, I can send the error files somewhere if thats what people are doing?
  4. Anyone else experiencing the postprocessing setting going to low when you restart the game? it still appears to be set to very high in the menu, but if you click on another option PP option and then back on very high it changes it correctly, have to do it everytime I play though, didnt have this previously.
  5. Im using two 280 GTX in SLI and I have it running, are you runing a 64-bit OS, if not you need to call the .exe crysis.exe

    For gtx 295 users

I dont think this FPS lock exists SLI is not being turned off, I think what your seeing ingame is a bottleneck with the CPU, the first scenario someone try that see what FPS you get in there, theres not a lot of AI and im getting around 50FPS in the mission, albeit ive got two GTX 280's.

When you said you tried crisis.exe and crisis64.exe is that a typo? as that wont work it needs to be spelt crysis.exe or crysis64.exe.
  8. Ive run both XP and 7 and after loads of testing ive stuck with XP, I had pretty much the same framerates but 7 gave me a lot of stutters when turning quickly, whereas XP is smoooooth as you like!
  9. Not nescessarily, I think your machine as a whole is important with ArmA2 much more so than other games, if there is one component that is lacking slighly it will bring your machine down a lot, whereas other games you might be able to get away with a slower CPU as its more GPU dependant. I think with the amount of AI and calculations are done, and the graphics engine that is being displayed you need a good all rounder.
  10. I played on the same server that I normally play on tonight and Ive never had this issue on there server, tonight however I did have this problem its not server side I know that but I did notice that my CPU usage was at 20% which is incredibly low, might be worth other people checking what there CPU usage is when they get this cap, its definitlely CPU related though looking into the sky doesnt even increase FPS.
  11. Unfortunately that has nothing to do with it, for me anyway ;)
  12. LOL think you may have even last after the weekend :)
  13. Sorry in tweaks I meant did you have to rename the exe to get SLI working? Just interested to see if people all end up with similar settings and tweaks to get the results were after, at least that way we might be able to help others better. Im running 32bit, I didnt like 64 for some reason cant remember for the life of me why now?! Im running two cards so I think in effect only 1024mb is being used, but its different with the 295 is it not, as the memory is all on the one PCB, so it does use the full amount? I dont have any stuttering in XP so i cant imagine Ram being an issue, I also have created a Ramdisk to use the remaining memory that XP cant see, and I use this as my paging file, so if anything has to be swapped out of the memory to the paging file speed shouldnt really be any different. I think you can get images of XP either 32 or 64 and use them for 30 days without the key, so might be worth trying both. Tell me about it I think ive done more tinkering that actually playing at the moment, finally settled on what I have now and have sat down the last few nights, and the nights have been getting later and later LOL, I have the "one more go" syndrome at the moment :) Just a thought on the stuttering, what do you have memory and texture set to, this seems to be a big reason for causing it.
  14. Do you have a copy of XP you can try, I know it sounds odd but I experienced stuttering as well in 7, ArmAMark scores were pretty much the same but......actual gameplay I had next to no stuttering in XP while 7 felt horrible, glad your getting somewhere now though ;) you have to try any of the tweaks?
  15. I had this first off as well my fps seemed capped to like 32fps, I was mostly playing Air Cav, it seems though newer versions of this missions have been released and now playing that mission things have improved by a lot? I dont know if the mission has anything to do with it, can they be tidied up and improved so to speak? I know nothing beyond dropping units into the editor so have no idea in whats involved with creating missions although id like to be able to!
  16. Im getting 6000 points in ArmaMark, thats with most things set to high/very high, I dont think thats been done by anyone with a single card solution? It definitley is working, with one card I cant even have shadows above normal, set it to high and I was getting around 25fps, when both cards are working though I sit around 60 most of the time, with lowest drops to around 45, MP the other night was absolutely glorious, SP some of the campaign missions everyone has issues looks more like CPU limitation but thats all in another thread! I completely agree with you though, it should not be this hard to get it running, SLI and CF and becoming more and more common, and someone who's just picked up the game will probably never get the most out of it, without scouring through pages on forums looking for switches/tweaks to eek that little extra. Before the release I was keeping an eye on how things were coming along, and Im sure it was stated that SLI and CF were going to be supported, but I can never find anything in wiriting? Also id love to know what setups they had when demoing to people and there settings as all the reports were that framerates looked good, and it just seems like so many people are running into problems getting it to run well.

    ArmAII-Mark

People with I7's can you guys check something out for me, try and keep your CPU speed the same while adjusting your memory speed, it seems to have quite an effect? for example 3.8Ghz with the memory at 1600Mhz was a fair amount faster than 4Ghz and 1400Mhz im wondering if maybe memory bandwith is more of a limit when the CPU is that fast, my memory doesnt clock well so I cant go much higher to test, be interested to see what scores people are getting with the 2000Mhz memory, prices seem to be alright now but dont want to swap it out if theres not going to much difference! ---------- Post added at 11:50 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:32 PM ---------- Ive done a lot of testing and tweaking now and ive settled on XP, 7 gave me almost the same marks but while actually playing it just didnt seem as fluid and I experienced a lot of stuttering, Ill list below my setup, tweaks, settings and scores. System I7@3.8Ghz 6GB of memory @ 1600Mhz SLI GTX280 OCZ SSD (only running one drive at the moment, so not sure how it is when I put my raid0 back together) Tweaks ArmA2.exe rename to crysis.exe -cpucount=4 -maxmem=2047 switches used 2.5Gb Ramdisk installed using the unmanged ram that WinXP cant see and set to be used as paging file. Settings Res: 1920x1280 Fillrate: 100% Visibility: 3500 Texture Detail: High Video Memory: High Anisotropic Filtering: Very High Terrain Detail: Normal Objects Detail: High Shadow Detail: High Postprocess effects: Very High With these settings im finding im getting something that is running very well pretty much on par with Arma1 for me, but looking a hell of a lot better. Score I disabled V-sync as I was sitting at 60fps for most of the test and I felt it wasnt showing a true reflection of the the score, the score came in at 6016, running with the OP settings im was still getting pretty much the same score so there is a bottleneck somewhere. @Super Hans, pretty similar system to mine, try the tweaks I mentioned above, also look at either trying XP/7 as a lot of people seem to be having issues with Vista, its a bit of a hog with memory as well, so you may benefit from an increase in that. Also are you positive that SLI is working? Renaming the .exe to crysis has worked for many including me, also try setting the SLI mode to AFR2 in the Nvidia CP as this has also got it working for some.
  18. Another one here to say SLI works ;)

    Horrible LAG!

This might be an SLI issue then as I cannot set the textures to very high without causing stuttering, also I run my view distance at 3500 and dont notice and impact at all, seems you gain in some places lose in others :)

    Horrible LAG!

If the 1gb versions arent having issues then maybe people need to look at the texture and memory settings as they seem to be tied together, setting memory and texture to very high gave me stuttering, high is fine, maybe people with less memory on the cards need to go to normal?

    Horrible LAG!

Getting SLI and the GTX295 does seem to be a bit hit and miss at the moment, I did get my SLI rig working well renaming the .exe to crysis, for others and yourself it appears that it doesnt help. What in game settings are you using, fillrate is a killer really at anything above 100%, Texture and Memory anything above High gave me stuttering and dropped framerates, and until I got SLI working I struggled having shadows set above normal, now I have it set to high. Id recommend setting fillrate to 100% the rest to normal and see how your FPS is then, then adjust settings until you get something your happy with. Also have you tried putting the -winxp switch at the end of your shortcut? also for your ArmA2 profile in the Nvidia CP have you tried setting the SLI mode to AFR2, also might be worth trying the Win7 Nvidia beta drivers if you havent already they are available on there site 186.xx I think. Just so you know im running @ 1920x1200 100% Fillrate High-Very High and get around 50-60fps, you can get the framerate but a hell of a lot of tinkering is required ;) I get a bit of the flickering textures as well seen a few vids posted of it, it looks like its to do with bloom/shadows when ive noticed it most, im sure it was in ArmA1 as well

    Tree texture bug

No worries I think it might actually be related to renaming the .exe havent tested it yet though, just wanna say awesome job on the way you guys run your server as well, was on there last night most fun ive had so far, TK'ers kicked straight away, pilots shipping the troops continuously was great :)

    Tree texture bug

It looks like you have AF enabled in the CP and disabled within ArmA? I set AF within the CP as it seems to give better IQ but then noticed I was getting the issue you have posted above, setting it to application controlled and setting the AF level within ArmA fixed this for me.

    ArmAII-Mark

I have a 2 card setup, but I have spoken to someone with a 295 and read a post from someone with a 295 that this sorted the issue for them, but ive read other post's where it hasnt so it does seem a little hit and miss at the moment, me personally it worked and I saw a large increase in frames.
