Is Queens Gambit going to have better animations
slingblade20000 replied to Dudester's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
i think people a missing dudester original point. What is Queens gambit going to add? New players? dont think so. Why do you think that evo is the most played out map? That's what a majority of the New Players that never played OFP that came from bf2 and other games. The majority if not all of the Old ofp ctf squads are not playing Arma because of the animations. Fix the animations and guess wha t will happen alot of full servers with hundreads of more players. No expansion pack will do that This game is a year old that was made for those COOP diehards who enjoy non PvP games and guess what Arma is dieing. We in the PVP group keep OFP alive still today with CTI and CTF. Sometimes the truth hurts but needs to be said. -

Kevlar2007 heres a link to whats going on with the 8800 series cards. Link Here http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=41351 Also are you using XP or Vista because i didnt see your system specs or i overlooked them. -
sorry to hear your fustration with nobody playing CTF, i use my squad as a exsample we are a USA based squad that played CTF for 6 years and if your the same dudester we have had many matches against your old squad. We had 20 members all ready to go when the demo came out. We downloaded it and each one said "what the heck did they do to OFP" and that was it uninstalled it and we never looked back. I think thats why theres no old OFP CTF squads playing it. i know were waiting on OFP2 and maybe thats what the others are doing as well.

nice post bunks... But nobody will listen to what is the issue with Arma. Its kinda sad that everyone is still telling people they need the killer rig to run this game right when from day one when arma was released the answer was there. I found that windows XP pro was the best for running this game, what other OS did you try?

i think if this is true it is the saddest thing and maybe the final nail for even the dire harded supporters. So now those that bought Arma that havent been able to run the game from day 1 are now supposed to pony up what? another $30.00 for the chance of maybe it might fixed the major problems. You know i was just thinking " man if they only had soldiers with cowboy hats " Good luck with that BIS As the saying goes " a fool and his money are soon parted"

lol...my post earlier in this thread was deleted... how nice of the mods. Well lets start why i think Arma is just disappointing because i cant say the other. 1: Using a ported Xbox engine that streams all the data[ Textures, sound and HDR]from the hard drive causing everyone that bought the game to have major issues. 2: Because they went in this direction to cache stream there is no way for your computer to know how many Xmps of textures to load. This is the reason why there is so many people complaining about LOD. Bis in the first set of patches lowered the texture switching to the lowest point possible and still theres LOD bugs. 3: View distance button is not working because of point 2 that i made, the only way to control how much Xmps of streaming textures is to be able to move the control for it which its not. 4: BIS is unwilling or doesnt know how many Xmps at a 1000 view distance arma needs to stream textures, sound and HDR so people can make the choice if there system cant handle it. Final thought: i have been able to run Arma at high frame rates with no issues but i have uninstalled because it is boring period and no anti hack protection. What Killed OFP was it was hack to death, it wasnt because people didnt like to play it.

I&C i find it funny that everyone here that is posting against your main point. BIS released Armed Assault before it was ready for the whole point of getting money for a game that was a least a year away from being done. I guess alot of you are ok with the bait and switch that took place, good for you that you want to be Beta testers. If BIS needed money so bad they should have come up with a community program that for those that wanted to send them $20.00 dollars to become part of a beta testing group with them getting a final release copy of the game for free i bet we here in the forums would have a whole different look and feel. The market will take care of BIS , not a bunch of yes men.

lol before the thread gets locked what Armed Assault lacks is a heart, the reason why games are made as there is some point to them. Like why am i shooting these guys in green camo ? I still havent a clue why i need to defend these towns from what or whom? You can go on a on and have the same answer for most of them. So now i will wait till it hits the $10.00 shelf which wont be that long of a wait when its released may 8th in the US. These forums will be a interesting for the next two weeks i will have to stock up on popcorn because the Entertainment of this car wreck will be worth it. Enjoy

Heres a few hard drive tweaks that might help a few with LOD issues. 1: Make sure you have Enable write caching on hard disks. Fix Here 2: You can also use a few high-memory registry tweaks to enable Windows to use more of yoour System RAM that might give you a smoother experience. "DisablePagingExecutive" and "LargeSystemCache" both set to 1 They are found HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management - if they're not there, just add them as Decimal values

For those that didnt know that vista has write caching features disabled by default here's how to turn it on. This might help the ones that have issues with Vista and Armed Assault. Fix Here

slingblade20000 replied to slingblade20000's topic in OFFTOPIC
yes i do know that, but what im comparing it to OFP1 and Armed Assult now. I think most of the complaints in reguards to those 2 "might" be done in OFP2 with correct dammage values. -

just a view things i saw that it looks like a few missed 1.AI use of bridges 2.It looks like you could have what i would call true damage values for vehicles instead of just turning a rust color. Like blowing a tank trax off or doors off a hummv. lol..maybe even soilder damage values -
Good looking game

Fixed my game getting slower by like this
slingblade20000 replied to Dudester's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Im glad it worked out for you dukester, bandwidth is the key not the speed RPM or Cache Size of the Hard Drive. Were you also able to play at the settings i told you about ? and was the majority the bug issues gone as well?
