    I think it is not the time to consider new features such as taking cover yet, I mean they need to spot each other properly first... I was testing and creating some urban combat missions quite a lot lately aswell as playing other user mission and here is what I have to add. it seems the ai is simply not finished yet, we are almost there, but... There are just so many problems currently which do ruin the game completely but it should be reasonably easy to solve them. There are big problems with ai in urban combat even besides the los bugs and pathfinding. One big problem which ruins the game is if your team enters intersecting street and there are enemies (even 1 enemy is enough) at some side (left or right) your team is going to die all the time. here is why it is the way your team moves and everyone looks at the same direction when they move. In Arma an ai unit can only look forward while he moves. here is how to solve this, no need to code the matrix agents ai, just make the ai turn their head and strafe. problem solved. if BIS managed to create an AI which can find it's own way on the map then they surely can make it look not only forward. so why not make that last final step and make the ai actually move and look properly and strafe ? watch this video it tells more than million words, it shows this problem and suicide attacks, no use of teamwork problem aswell. I will continue this post later

    add this to the arma.exe shortcut -window -x=1024-y=768 for example

    yes, I agree with easty completely. This test doesn't really show actual game perfomance...

    even if someone would add lots of complicated scripts and etc. I don't see how all this advanced suppresive fire, cover and flanking and anything would ever work when the AI still has such basic problems like not seeing each other properly and pathfinding doesn't work properly in cities half of the time. order them to move 5-10 meters and they may decide to take the worst longest route through unknown area without any caution... they may even go through buildings and there are some areas where they just won't go at all

    yes, I get the same results and I think this is a serious issue. While I can understand some slight penalty for moving... in this test BLUFOR should spot the enemy much earlier but instead he still blindly runs to the enemy position and dies... this could probably be one of the main reasons the AI looks so careless in combat
  7. yes, I was rather surprised actually when i found out that there are no ragdolls in ArmA, reminds me a lot of Boiling Point... of course I would like to see some ragdolls, However I'm pretty sure we would never see ragdolls im ArmA and it should be very low priority for BI

    Well, I've tested this and I can confirm the issue. AI simply can't spot each other for some reason... I also had issues with ai spoting each other earlier in my own missions. (btw they were not simply placed close to each other at the start of the mission)... I did some more tests with this "mission". units were set to randomly patrol the area. in order to spot each other they need to get a bit closer but it's not realistic

    another problem with ai is they don't keep formation and don't cover each other in urban combat most of the time. they act rather random and careless. Even when not in combat they dont act well, for example the way they simply move around in the streets, and intersecting streets - no cover, no leaning, everyone watches the same direction while moving, most of the time someone simply runs into the unknown area without any support from his teammates and etc.
