I think its partly because many of the casual players in OFP walked out of Arma because of its buggyness upon release, and higher system requirements. -

It can have more purposes than just advertisment. Testing out visual concepts and ideas for in house development, etc. Were still waiting for an official person to comment on it, but according to a preview, there will be no editor in the console versions. Number of players on console is also reduced to 16, so in pvp team vs team, there will be max 8 vs 8. http://community.codemasters.com/forum/showthread.php?t=344019

September 2008 -> March 2009 is less than one year. It's one half actually. Thanks for correcting me, last years GDC was in fall, not spring. I just presumed they didn't move the dates Anyway, thanks Deadfast.

Now that looks like a game I would buy, the detail is great, they even bothered to do real Eotech sights So sad its just CGI and has no relation to the actual Dragon Rising.

I wonder if anyone has observed weapon specific reloads? Something to replace the multi wave-hand-over-here animation. -
Remember that the Arma 2 campaign looks a lot more complex than the previous one. Perhaps a rebel leader has seen XM8 on future weapons on Discovery and buys one for dirty money on the black market? I wonder how indirect fire from artillery will be handled.

Games connection according to Wikipedia is a place within GDC where developers, publishers etc can meet, without any media/preview stuff. -
Half of the campaign of Arma you played as SF The Arma 2 campaign will not be very realistic either, neither has anyone I know claimed it to be so. So thats a straw man argument you are doing there. You are welcome to comment on a double standard if you see one though.

Well if you look hard enough on any game you will at some point find a "gamey" element. This doesnt erase the fact that there are also good points about the game.

And what about the 100% genuine weapon systems we have been promised?

Gravedigging isn't allowed BTW, perhaps we have to start a new topic with same title linking to this one? I find this to be a interesting issue, and perhaps the weakest link in the graphics. Its just as bad in Arma 2 as well. http://www.armaholic.com/pfs.php?m=view&v=4-steam_arma2_2.png I don't care too much about graphics, but this is definitely THE graphical thing to fix.

I agree fully. But I can also understand realism oriented PC fanboys anger towards consoles. Ghost Recon, Rainbow six and a bunch of other games have turned away from realism in recent years to serve a bigger audience. But I do think theres a market for realistic games on the consoles.

Vopsound ACE has some good A-10 cannon sounds, thats the soundmod I use now. But the separation is already built in as I said

Voicechat on multiplayer games also makes lip-movements.
