Well the frustration is too much for me, I simply can't play Arma in its current state, just wasted so much time/effort trying to get it to work properly but now I really feel like clicking uninstall and never coming back. Whilst it is on my hdd its too temping to waste time hoping to get it working.
-
Well its quite simple at the moment if you have an 8800 gfx card do not touch this game you will be majorly disappointed.
-
Didn't you just answer your own question?, also 1.05 and below had the major fog bug for 8800 users.
-
7950GTX on a laptop nice.. should run Arma nicely.
-
Can anyone (especially from BIS) see the pattern that is emmerging?!. 8800 = mainly p**sed off, lod bugs etc 7900/X1900 = generally happy
-
It seems like mostly us 8800 users who are getting the problems, the game is unplayable for me the only way I can play is to go back and use a non-beta patch but then there is ridiculous amount of fog so its not very good either, not at all impressed and looks like I wont be playing Arma again for a long time.
-
Well I went back to 1.05(not beta) to confirm the hdd reading and texture bug was not there and it was not, but of course the stupid fog is, so its a choice between "The Fog" or the munching hard disk lol.....

The hard drive I am using for Arma is brand new just formatted has 16mb cache and has only got Arma installed on it, I dont think there is anything else I can try, sick of this to be honest.
-
Same with 165 Win XP 32 I also dont get no actions in the action menu.. which them makes it impossible to board a vehicle or xchnage weapon or use any action. Does your hdd read like mad as well or is that just on mine?.
-
8800GTS 158.22 Win XP Same problem, hdd reads like mad as well. 8800 GTS 320MB
-
8800GTS 160.03 Win XP Now for 158.22...

1. From which version did you patch ? The older beta patch 2. Do you have a box release. If so which one ? No 3. Do you have a downloaded version. If so which one ? German online (metaboli) 4. What Gfx drivers are you running the patched version with ? 160.03 win xp 5. Do you run with Gfx driver default settings or have you altered them for performance reasons ? vsync off 6. Are your Arma settings configured right ? Maybe resetting them and reenabling the old ones afterwards would be an idea ? same as before

Well something is very f**ked up regarding viewdistance, everything is fine at 2000m but as soon as I try 2500 I get major hdd spam, obviously the higher I go the worse it gets. It's all very well having lovely view distances but it doesn't really mean anything if you cant use them ffs...
-
When I start up the editor and put myself in game with vd 2000m it runs ok although by ok I mean there are still a few lod glitches, flickering textures from time to time (especially when zooming in), but when I increase vd to 4000m almost instantly I get this and then the hdd goes crazy and if I try to go to options the game is frozen on "receiving". Everything on normal except textures low and shadows high 8800gts 320mb 158.22 drivers XP.
-
Well it didn't fix it the glitchy textures are back, really shocking this game is on 8800 gfx cards to be honest I give up, I'll try 1.07 patch when its out but I dont hold out much hope of ever getting this game working properly at least in the short term.
-
I'm only running at 1280x1024 with most things on normal so really should not have a problem with low video memory. I disabled the page file and it seems to have worked... though I am not convinced yet I will give it a few long gaming sessions and then conclude whethere this fixed it or not!. I'm not using that maxmem command because I thought that was only useful when the game ctd?, although when I had it set to 1024 it seemed to use around 1gb where as without the command it only uses like 250-600mb. Thanks for the replies.

Hitachi deskstar 320GB sata II 8mb I'm getting another with 16mb buffer to see if it helps.

........

Yeah I'm very fussy as well, I mean I expect the game to run properly without textures screwing up how unrealistic of me. At least BF2 plays properly out of the box, too arcady yes but at least it runs without so many damn issues, if things aren't a whole lot better when 1.07 is released then that is it with me and Arma enough is enough.
-
So sick of things like This. I've really had enough of trying to get this game to work properly, the dream of huge multiplayer battles is over for now, this game is just too deeply flawed.
-
This problem was semi fixed in the beta patch, but on 8800 series there is still some haze.

Hard Drive Tweaks Windows XP
spetznaz14 replied to slingblade20000's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
None of these tweaks help my system, I am getting a raid setup instead, if that cant handle Arma then the game is cosigned to the bin. -
Telling a newbie to overclock? Prepare for a deathly silence..

Nvidia BETA Fog Bug Driver Fix For 8800 Users
spetznaz14 replied to Major Eyeswater's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Thanks for the suggestion but its makes no difference to the haze. I just wish they made Arma look the same on 8800 as on 7900/7950 because it sucks having a so called superior card but the game looks worse!. -
Nvidia BETA Fog Bug Driver Fix For 8800 Users
spetznaz14 replied to Major Eyeswater's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
We all know the beta has less haze than 1.5 official but its still there to a lesser degree but still annoying. I tried the US demo and its no different from the beta patch. Beginning to wonder if it will ever get properly fixed..
