    Grand Theft Auto V

One of the characters looks like he may be based off of Tony Soprano. The wife, daughter, house with a pool, therapist comment etc.
  3. Looks like a great addition to the game. I noticed you mentioned problems in getting some doors to close. I had an issue like that for a hostage rescue mission and used a similar piece of code but it refused to work on a number of vanilla buildings (in particular the big metal shed with a main door on each side). After some hunting I found this topic on OFPEC that solved the problem. Both don't work off the bat but I was lucky that putting it through Squint got it to work since I have almost no scripting knowledge. It was on Podagorsk so I didn't need the second bit: private ["_y","_houses","_zeroes","_ones"]; _houses = [1000,1000] nearObjects ["house", 1000000]; _zeroes = ["dvere","dvere1l","dvere1r","dvere2l","dvere2r","dvere_spodni_r","dvere_spodni_l","dvere_vrchni","vrata1","vrata2","vratal1","vratar1","vratal2","vratar2","vratal3","vratar3"]; _ones = ["door","door_1_1","door_1_2","door_2_1","door_2_2","dvere1","dvere2","dvere3","dvere4","dvere5","dvere6","dvere7","dvere8","dvere9","dvere10","dvere11","dvere12","dvere13","dvere14","doorl","doorr","door_01","door01_a","door_02","door02_a","door_03","door_04","door_05","door_06","door_1a","door_1","door_2"]; { _y = _x; {_y animate [format ["%1", _x], 0]} foreach _zeroes; {_y animate [format ["%1", _x], 1]} foreach _ones; sleep 0.0001; } foreach _houses; Maybe with what you used you didn't have that issue but I thought I would post this just in case.

Arma 3 is not going far enough with Technology

If there was to be a world war today (or in the immediate future) it would not go like WW1 or WW2 but it would rather be a "fight with what you have" war. Since the 1960s military platforms have grown increasingly in terms of technology and cost making them unsuitable for mass production like in WW2. We seem to have come full circle from specialised workshops to factories mass producing armaments and back to specialised factories producing weapons that are again expensive, complex and resource intensive. If the Cold War had went hot it would not have developed like WW2 but most likely would have been relatively quick due to the aforementioned reasons. Defeat or stalemate would have resulted with a nuclear exchange highly likely - there would be no WW2 style mobilisation. Cost considerations do not go out the window either. Arma III is just a game of course so there's no need to have a very detailed history as long as it's reasonably plausible. Just enjoy it!
  5. Thanks! Hopefully we can give it a go this week.
  6. I'm making a small COOP mission where a couple of civs have been taken hostage by a low level group of insurgents. Since they're low level I don't want them to fight to the death but want the possibility of some them surrendering so we can make use of ACE handcuffs. I've added the surrender module and I know it kicks in when units flee which is controlled by allowFleeing. Simple enough to change that value, however, I want this value to be randomised between two values such as 0.3-1 and for that value to be the same for everyone. How would I go about doing this? I'm new to scripting but I would like to learn a bit by doing this and it would be great if someone could point me in the right direction.
  7. Nice videos, 1.5 is looking great.
  8. Good work. I have some scenarios where I'm a squad leader and attacking in concert with the rest of the platoon and/or company but can't see how they're getting on!

    1/2 off Iron Front

Yes, we get it already, you don't like it. The release was back in what, June? People get over former partners faster!

    ECP and Arma CWA

IIRC, you need to rename the .exe to FLASHPOINTRESISTANCE for it to install. Change it back when it's done.
  11. One of the best missions I've ever played for this series. I really like the fact that you used accounts of real life ops to construct the mission which gave it an authentic feel. Especially when the background to the mission was presented at the beginning. The AO also feels alive and the bases and outposts look like they're used. I'm about halfway through my first try and one interesting incident occurred:
  12. Yes, it's a good thing BIS didn't do as well out of it as they might have hoped. Otherwise it would have slightly inconvenienced your forum viewing. Thank God! :ok:

OK, cool, it has just been over two days.

If you've applied for the discount PE licence, when should you expect a response? Seeing that froggyluv has got it, presumably with the discount, getting a bit worried that I've missed out or done something wrong. :p
  15. Music to my ears (or eyes)!
  16. I was going through all the threads here to download all the released missions so far, however, quite a few links are dead. Here they are: I think that's them all, sorry if I missed any. It would be greatly appreciated if these could be re-uploaded or find a permanent host somewhere. Apologies if I posted this in the wrong area.
  17. For this mission, do you need to spot all vehicles in one go or just spot all of them once? I'm having trouble with one truck which doesn't light green even though I have a clear and unobstructed sight of the rear of it.

Controls Scheme & User Interface Feedback

That is what keeps me playing these games. Being able to create my own scenarios, building forces based on real world TO&E, giving my chosen side a mission and playing through it or trying to execute a plan with me in command of the fire team, squad, platoon or company and the supporting fires and assets. Combined with the relative realism of the game along with the large maps which provides freedom of action, Arma II can give you a very awesome experience time and time again. I am all for improving the controls of the game, the way the game handles and how you command AI, however, improving should just be that - improving - not screwing features for the sake of boosting others. Now, will I regret posting in this confusing and messy thread? :p

    ArmA Addon request thread

I've got it. I'll edit this post when I've uploaded it. EDIT Done
  20. Fantastic release. Thanks to all involved for the effort that has been put into the units and the missions. A friend and I have been playing through all the missions this week in MP and have had a great time going through them all.

    Development Blog & Reveals

Is it just me or does the way the weapon handles seem more natural? It looks like it sways with the breathing. I think you can see it better when Ivan brings up the optics.
  22. There is a mechanized infantry script available here it should work fine but IIRC it was still WIP and had some issues. Hopefully it gets updated at some point in the future.
  23. Touch Pilot Official Site Control a flight sim from your tablet Touch Pilot One allows virtual pilots to control a flight simulator on a PC, from a tablet. On-screen controls allow you to adjust throttle, gear, flaps, and more with just a touch. It works with any flight simulator running on a Windows PC. Available now for iPad and Android tablets. EG5eXtnEd8U Looks interesting, has anybody tried it?

Army of the Czech Republic DLC

I also found them to be quite accurate. Frustratingly so - the machine gun toting farmers are especially deadly. Not only that but they are also really good at spotting and far better than your own guys who are supposed to be recon. At the moment I'm trying to approach an area through woods and even with all of them on stealth and prone the enemy AI mostly gets the drop on them and the medic is almost always the first to go, poor guy. It all adds up to an annoying amount of restarts if you want to complete the mission without losing a squad member.
