If anyone is interested I just copied Steal the Car from my OFP folder to my ArmA missions folder, fired up the mission and it worked. Although I did get an error about the missing Hind. Edit: However I can't seem to get the de-PBO'ed mission showing up in the editor despite renaming to cwr_abel. Any ideas? Edit 2: It's likely a lot of things were FUBAR in the mission but the whole thing seemed to work perfectly eg voice files, cutscenes, mission finishing etc.

Thank you BIS! Will test out system peformance and AI later on tonight.

I thought this was going to be an update. Sadly it was just a couple people being pedantic. There is an offtopic forum. Use it.

I want to join! This is the most comical military recruitment advert I have ever seen. Any other contenders out there?
-
Maybe time for a 'Turning ArmA into your favourite game' thread similar to the one OFP had?

Thank you for all the work you have put into the Falklands mod. The changes in this update are thoroughly appreciated. This is one of the best projects for Flashpoint.

Apologies for the late reply. Been doing some extra work lately for more cash for Christmas. No. They do not call themselves socialists. They may have back in the 80’s and early 90’s but not now. At the start of the 1990’s Labour’s popularity was incredibly low. This was highlighted by one of The Scum’s (Sun’s) headlines at the time, “Would the last person to leave Britain please turn the lights off.†This was putting the message across that the Labour party was unpopular amongst the majority of the population. Labour was seen as being an old fashioned party. Indeed the heavy industries had largely disappeared during the 80’s and with it the working classes of those communities which meant the people the party relied on for votes were gone. By 1997 they were a centre right party and over the years they have been moving more and more to the right. I never said there was a ‘Third Way’. When Blair came to power he re-invented the party image. The party name was changed to New Labour. He described the party’s policies as being the ‘Third Way’. For example he coined the term ‘Tough on crime and tough on the causes of crime.’ This showed that he was committed to dishing out harsh punishments but also to tackle the socio-economic causes of crime. The old Labour had been seen as being weak on crime and this statement reflected that he was committed to change. Blair’s popularity shot up and as a consequence they won the ’97 general election. In conclusion New Labour does not say they are socialist. Socialism brings up the old and now unpopular image of what Labour used to be. Blair’s ‘Third Way’ mentality has replaced the socialist stance. Statistics on Nationalist Army soldiers please. Eg. Number that were landowners, peasants etc. Same for the Commies as well. Thankfully. Yes. God Save the Queen. Explain how it is no different. It’s hard to support something that happened hundreds of years ago unless there is a time machine. Moreover Britain already achieved what the French did in their revolution 100 years before. If I had been a Scot back in the time of the American and French Revolutions then it is highly likely I would have not supported them. In both instances Scotland went right in support of the British government. Jacobites who fought against the government in the ’45 were in the British Army slotting as much of the enemy as possible. America was too important economically for Scotland. And you can prove this? Or is it from your Crystal Ball? There have been executions. British historian Hugh Thomas reckons that perhaps 5,000 executions had taken place by the 70’s. Nothing. It depends on how a person perceives things. Everyone may get an education but it will be an education that pushes state line only. A God Like worship for Castro which is a strange feature for a socialist country. Love Castro or go to prison. Just look at the Armando Valladares case. Jailed for refusing to put a picture of Castro on his desk. Why would they even do that? Do they want the guy to lock himself in his office with some tissues and Castro’s photo or something? Doesn’t sound ‘better’ to me. People jailed for their political views. Oscar Biscet for example. Jailed for his peaceful vocal opposition to Castro. Doesn’t sound like freedom of speech to me. A low prison population doesn’t mean anything. They could have an ineffective police force. Their laws may have a lose definition of crime. Furthermore this is all just based on reported crime (caught criminals). There is no way to measure unreported crime. Thus the official crime statistics for Cuba mean little to nothing. However if I had posted low crime statistics for a capitalist country you would be arguing the point I am now. Fact: 100% of people with heating will die. On a more serious note how about explaining what is in the link? Honestly I don’t know how this is supposed to prove anything. Let me elaborate. First of all the article mentions: If 95% of the people that die are elderly this is more of a health issue. I do fine. A couple years ago in October on the piss I managed to survive roaming about the town the entire night (and early morning). And where I live it gets fecking cold. Moreover I have not heard of anyone dying up here from not having money to turn up the heating. I make feck all, don’t get benefits and can still manage to turn on the heating whenever needs be. Obviously their bodies cannot take the cold and support is available as shown in the article: Benefits are available to pay heating bills with so it’s more of the people making sure they get the money. The Capitalist state obviously cares or they would not be offering this unlike you claim you narrow minded fool and your typical ‘blame everything bar socialism’ stance. Moreover the article is from 2003 and there doesn’t seem to be anything recent on the side of the page. Furthermore the article mentions ‘needless deaths’. Call me a cruel bastard but that is life. Plenty of people die needlessly all over the world. I’m 100% positive people die needlessly in Cuba as well. Car crashes for example. It’s not the states fault (although you would probably argue it would be if it was capitalist) the people may just have not had the driving skills. I’m sure there would be methods to improve their skills but the person would just not have taken it up. Just the same as the benefits for heating. It is a slum. Where the hell do you live? Mars? If a house with no windows and a family to each room isn’t poor housing then I don’t know what is. Just imagine having to take bricks out of the windows to let light in. Or not being able to shag your wife because the kids are in the same room. Sounds wonderful Spokesperson.  You have no right to call anyone a hypocrite. Look at these statements of yours. These two statements clearly show what you feel on war. These statements indicate that you accept that shooting POW’s, civilian deaths etc. are a part of war. However you completely contradict yourself when you say: Mind citing the source you got 1% from? Looks like you just made it up on the fly. Clearly you think it is not a crime and perfectly ok for civilian deaths as long as it is done by an entity that fits with your personal views. However when it is done by a capitalist state it is a heinous crime that must be punished (and that we are all evil - bar anyone left wing). You are inherently two faced. This is shown again by another comment of yours: Just because a state is socialist or capitalist does not condone what it does. Just because Stalin was the leader of a left wing country does not make it ok that he killed countless amounts of people. There have been instances with you where you seem to have spoken highly of him by mentioning that he is popular in Russia today. And? That makes fuck all difference to what he did. But that seems to be ok with you. However if it was Hitler that was popular in Germany today you would be up in arms. Honestly Spokey, your obsession with answering questions with questions is a tad annoying. It doesn’t prove or show you know what you are talking about and just makes you look like an utter moron. For example what is this supposed to answer? What? This doesn’t show or prove anything. These are questions not answers. A primary school kid can tell the difference but you can’t seem to. Please try and formulate arguments to try and convince us instead of posting dribble (and that includes shitipedia).

Looking excellent so far. Will it be possible to have relatively big fights without lag? In addition I would suggest getting in contact with Shinkansen (he is on this forum). If I remember rightly he had a completed soldier pack, tanks, aircraft and some other things from the now dead Operation Somme mod. Edit: If it's anything like the Napoleonic mod I know this will be excellent. And I always love how you include Scots.
-
The insurgents would all be slotted if they tried to fight conventionlly. But the fact is they can't. They don't have the resources available to do such a thing. I'm sure if they had divisons of well equipped infantry, tanks and an air force to challenge coalition air supremacy they would fight conventionally. What they are trying to do is wear the Coalition forces down over a long period. Which is all they can really do with what they have. Just like in Vietnam.
-
I would also love to see this in a game rather than just your standard Rambo, MoH run n gun type games. Hopefully a software company will come up with something similar to your description. Hell maybe even a group in ArmA will come up with something similar with standard game addons or a mod. I would love to take part in missions like those. Those Gordon Highlanders? Were they released? They were the local regiment at one point; wouldn't mind getting my grubby mits on them.

I would love to see the Falklands conflict in ArmA. I am still having a great time with the OpFlash one. How about we leave the political debates for the OT section? Just to point out to Cydon that the Western Allies had fought in North Africa, then the Med., Italy, Atlantic, fighting against Japan which was over a massive area etc. And he was not saying you should be locked up. He was talking about Nazi supporters.

So when did the USSR, Che and Mao do that? Did Robin Hood oppress rob and burn in your opinion too? Well according to Prince John he was. Which side are you on? Of course it can be corrupt, but it will be much harder if the system is transparent and if people vote in local democratic councils. Since when is more democracy a bad thing? Why vote at all, when it can be corrupt? Socialism is not about sharing everything equal. In socialism you get more if you work more. The difference is that you got to work (if your health allows) to earn money unlike today where owners got the power. In socialism the working class got the power. An emphasis on the production of luxuries rather than on base goods when people starve is bad. In cuba no people starve (quite remarkable, if you compare to countries in the same region), and they got computers, tvs, pubs, cinemas etc. No problem. I think it's up to every family to decide how they want to live. It's not up to some conservative government to decide. I'm a proponent of freedom. Pol Pot was supported by the US and China. Socialist Vietnam had to get rid of him. People who call themselves socialists don't have to be that. Just look at the social liberal social democrats or labour. USSR in Eastern European in countries during and after WW2. Poland is a prime example. USSR's invasion of the 'Stan which you have so conviently forgotten in your attacks against NATO operations in that country. Che was quite a cold hearted chap for a peoples revolutionary. There are first hand accounts of him executing prisoners during his insurgency in Cuba. A revolutionary like him should have known that the soldiers he was fighting were the people he was trying to 'save'. Mao's soldiers often killed landowners for some reason. Would have been easier if they just took whatever land the person had. Your explanation of socialism is the best one you have given so far and certainly does sound good. Although I still have my reservations. But does British Labour call themselves socialists? They may have back in the 80's and before but I beleive they refer to thier policies as the 'Third Way'.

Like the USSR, Che Guevara, Mao's Commies etc. Little brother of the US? Well technically the US was the love child of European immigrants. So not really. Be careful getting into an argument with this guy R3MF. It is his sole purpose in life to trawl through internet forums pimping his commie views. Even when you counter one of his points he will reply in arrse covering double speak. I would say people actually do benefit from big economies. I don't earn much but I got plenty of food, NHS, increase in living standards among the majority of people, people got better health etc. Also I don't see how this magical socialism is supposed to better the world. The system will still be corrupt, people will still be power hungry and do anything to get into a position of power, not everyone will be equal, not everyone will have motor vehicles, crime will still exist etc. Moreover earlier on in this thread you mentioned that luxury goods are horrible parts of capitalism. So what are we supposed to do for entertainment in the socialist world? Sit and do nothing? No TV? No cinema? No pubs? No computers? These are all luxury goods. Are we going back in time to a subsistance farming based lifestyle where people work for hours on end to produce barely enough food for themselves? What is your vision Spokesperson? You going to get rid of the family structure to? Just like one of your heroes Pol Pot?

nope just a widly accepted theory. Ă‚ The evidance for it is great, but it is still a theory. Ă‚ Its the same as flying. Ă‚ To this day there is actually no agreed conclusive reason as to how Planes manage to stay in the air. Really has nothing to do with the topic at hand. I was making a point not a scientific argument.

Anybody got a working link to the english version of the campaign?
-
Just a suggestion, but before you go downloading all these superb mods you should probably play OFP in its regular form (patched up of course). Then once you play it with all these mods you can appreciate how far the community has taken the game.
-
I can't remember if the campaign specified a date of the events but I assumed it was a few months after the war (correct me if i'm wrong). This could explain the lack of reconstruction in the North. Moreover with an insurgency going on in it would be difficult to reconstruct anything. As construction workers would make easy targets and funds would be diverted to fighting the partisans instead of re-building. Thus remnants from the old Communist regime would still remain.

I'm pretty sure this would cause the rise of lots of ironic comments from the rest of Europe (and from the world maybe), something like: "The English way to try win something with their national team". In fact this is what I would think about it. I would dislike such an idea very much if I was English (or Scottish or whatevere else.) I don't see why the rest of Europe would and/or should care. Nothing to do with them. It would be a British Tournament. Don't forget Britain is a union of nations. Why shouldn't there be some sort of competition? Moreover England would not always win it. Your neither. Little point to this comment when you don't know our culture, what we are like, how we think etc. If you were English/Scottish/Welsh/Irish you would probably think differently.
-
Sure, I would love to see such a competition. Anything that gets Scotland playing together more would be excellent for the team. I've always personally felt that the Intl. team don't play enough games together. Really? England wanted to see Scotland go through? In Scotland I got the feeling that people were not really caring after we got knocked out. People lost interest. I remember during the World Cup that there was almost no support for England in my area. As I stay in an SNP stronghold (Alex Salmond's residence is only a couple miles away). I also remember there being a slump in Mars bar sales in Scotland as they were strongly backing England at the time. Generally people don't care or don't want to see England go through. When you ask people why they say " cos it will never be off the news." Personally I wasn't really bothered if England got through or not. I lost interest as well. Also I remember during Euro '96 (I think) that an uncle of mine went down to Wembley to see Scotland play England. The next day his photo apeared in a paper with the title, 'We will never let people like this back in our country' or something to that effect. I've always had the feeling that most people in England were not bothered if we were knocked out or that they wanted us to lose. In an ideal world this old rivalry would be gone. Hopefully people in both countries will realise what a big (positive) part we have played in each others history and ditch the rivalry from hundreds of years ago. Then again I'm probably being naively optimistic here.

Sorry, was this question directed to me? If so, what do you mean by 'revival of home team competition?
-
Well after a look through the thread you would have found out that RKSL primarily focus on aircraft that are in use with the British Forces. Although there are some non British projects in the works but these are of secondary importance. In addition the RKSL team have came up with some brilliant scripts for their addons ie Cargo script, Rapier(AAA) scripts etc. Moreover they will also try to get the aircraft to be as realistic as possible within the ArmA engine. There is also an 'agreement' between RKSL and Project UK Forces (PUKF) in that RKSL will focus on air and PUKF will focus on ground forces. That is all I can think of off the top of my head for now. Anyway I'm sure RockofSL (RKSL - hence RKSL studios) will give more details on what the project is about. To RKSL: I have been following your work since its inception into ArmA and look forward to your releases . I continue to be impressed with the work you have come up with so far and your ability to take on such a huge project. Kudos.

Don't forget Scotland. Our team put in maximum effort for that game. Scotland deserved to win. Seeing the last Italian goal go in was like getting a kick in the balls. But that's football. England did pretty bad. I remember their performance in the world cup being woeful as well. Chin up and better luck next time to both teams.
