if you mean warfare mod, yes theres an aircraft factory. if you mean other missions, it depends on the mission. But yes, you can fly online (the best way). - make sure someone is laser designating your targets though.

graphics bugs with ATI 4800 series (4850/4870/4890)
sirex replied to fjaekel's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
im pretty sure a bis dev said the bug is a memory fragmentation issue. Which would make sense, as when i get the bug i can change from high to very high with a 512mb card and itll go away for a bit. when it comes back i go back toh igh or normal and it goes away again, so i dont think anything we do is going to fix it until bis sort it out -
newest drivers on both 4850 and 4870 both still give massive graphics corruption for me when gfx memory is full.

sirex replied to fjaekel's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
yes. and no, it doesnt help. just to confirm, i get this with a 4850 and a 4870, or a 4870+4850 crossfire. 512mb cards, winxp 32bit, 4gb ram (3 used) -
hmmm, so that'd be 2-7 then ?

trackir as a controller is not enabled by default. in game, goto game options, controls, at the bottom , hit the "controllers" button, and click trackir to enable it. bingo. should now work.
-
pretty sure this is a known issue - i also have a 4850 (and a4870) and both do the same. i think its the "memory fragmentation" problem that bis are aware of. - Im pretty confident they'll get it fixed with a patch.

Multiplayer is just one big lagg & horrible to play
sirex replied to Jackdaniels's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
goto map. leave map. job done. -
agree with the above posts. - and "hacked" is a bit strong, id be suprised if they even bothered to change their "hack" code from arma1. Like arma1, many admins dont bother to take the slightest precautions. edit: also, cut BIS some slack. They've made a game which is very customisable. Being able to do that and avoid hacks is very very difficult. Net result is, public servers are full of idiots, but its alot easier to join a group that arnt idiots and play on your own server, than fight a tide of kids with too much time on their hands and something to prove to their peers.

QFE. pretty sure this will carry on working in arma2

for what it's worth, this is due to compression, and recordings normally being taken to drive snapshot style every few seconds. The data on the storage is not the same as the free flowing video on the monitor. aside from that, the issues of making the camera small, - and a uav can zoom to focus on what it wants, - a static security camera trys to be focused where they think the criminals face is going to be - not an easy task. what you really want is an array of cameras, or one that can refocus fast, tied to some face recognition software, to point and focus on faces as they occur. I think this is being done in industry, slowly.

changing the exe to fear.exe got the flickering to stop when using crossfire. but the second card is barely used, arma2mark score goes from about 3300 to 3600. - still get memory corruption on the 512mb cards after a few hours playing though.

Porting arma 2 into arma
sirex replied to Balgorg's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
 ... that is all. -
ati 4870 & ati 4850 both 512mb's- still get graphics glitches, with or without crossfire. (esp without, and if video memory is turned up)
-
good patch. dealt with alot of issues. hoping future patch allows official german->english unlocked. AI shooting through grass is biggest game problem, imho. edit: the idea of an alpha fade in of new LOD is brilliant by the way. trees "popping up" sucks.

great to hear the mission is still being worked on. its by far my favorite for arma1 and now 2 :)

Before TONS of thread complaing about TKing...

kids came to ArmA1. kids will come to ArmA2. Good news, kids get bored easy and soon leave. Has the same solution as cheaters. Play with people you know, end of story. edit: but that "week or two" you speak of, is more likely to be 9 months. -
... and bonus by the way (and my favorite thing about arma2) if you use multiple controllers (joystick / n52 / trackir) you can leave them all plugged in yay !

this is a known issue. fix it with the "video memory" option.

The Eagle (ArmA2) has Landed: 505/North America Territories, got yours yet?
sirex replied to 159th_Viper's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
i'd assume so, as it's there in the german version. Bad news is it looks a bit rubbish, good news is it allows maps that arnt islands, so i think its ok. -- might have been nice to make that land dark green though so it fits a little better. -

as a side note, i have a 512mb card. using normal fixes most of the issues, using high/very high makes the problem appear almost instantly.
