    Ecp released!

Yea, that's what I kinda figured. Bummer, as ECP truly turns this into a new game, and I'm just now getting a chance to look at some of the excellent user missions out there. It wouldn't be so bad, but ECP has spoiled me , and I can't play without it. Mark

    Your opinions of the campaigns.

Favorite Campaign? CWC. Â The reason why? I'm a grunt more then in any other campaign. Â When I first started playing this game, it truly felt like I gained ranks. Â As I understood more and realized how to control my squad, the game gave me more control. Â As I had more insight into the game, the game gave me more, it was cool. Â Â 2nd best? Redhammer, the first half of Redhammer. Â Something about it, I dunno. Â I'm glad it was released before resistance. Kinda of a warm up to the micro managment that was to come. . . . Â Then Resistence. Â Honestly, I didn't like this. Â I like the story, but not the mechanics of the gameplay. Â Or, actually, I do. It's 50-50. Let me explain. Â Resistence brought out the best that OFP had to offer, but at the same time reflects all its flaws. Â I loved how in the original CWC, you mostly had no clue what was going on, everything was crazy, like I assume a real firefight would be. Â Unfortunatly, in Resistance after a few mission, I started to "get" the campaign makers mindset. Â I don't know how to explain it, actually. I kinda "knew" what was going to happen, what they expected the player to do. Â Perhaps it was because I knew the mechanics of the game better, being that I had made a few missions and done some scripting. Â It probably was that. Â But something about resistance seemed so, (not the story, let me say) blah. Â It was like a different game almost. Â Too much micro-managment for me. Â I know that's how a lot of people feel about redhammer though(not the micromanagment part). Â But I have to say, to me, at least, RedHammer feels more like the original game then Resistance. Â Â Â Â Mark

    Ecp released!

I wish I knew. I get this error with LoJack and ECP too. It was soooo much better with ECP and DR too. One way you can avoid the bug is too not die. :P . Also - try using the built in built in save (the 'one time' save) after about 5 minutes into the game - then use the radio to save and your savegame might work with lojack. Not only did I have problems with ECP and your mission, toadlife, but also Sui's mission Facile Ground.  The only difference is when the error says ". . . /Item410/data.value" in your mission, in Sui's mission it says ". . ./Item9/data.value"   Whatever those mean And in your mission, toadlife, it seems like 60 per cent of the time, my "radio" saves where okay. Versus cheating and typing savegame, which would equal a zero percent success rate  Hm, maybe something from ECP isn't getting saved with the save file?

The future, or just more virtual reality hype?

Sry, for wrong section posting.  Avon, supposedly, this thing picks up pretty small reactions. Slight increases and such, that's what I find so fascinating.  You don't have to be outta breath to get it to register, in other words  Anyway, Baron, from what I read from somewhere when I initally heard about this game was it calibrates to each individual.  It takes about a minute to get your regular responses, then goes from there.  Though, I'm sure depressed people probably would perform better on a battlefield  I dunno, I just see so many possibilities available.  Maybe not right now, but in a few years.  Plus, the beers make my mind think simple things more complex  Mark
  5. Okay, just read an article in Discover magazine about a game coming out called WildDivine, and it really got me to thinking about the future of War-sims, and games in general.  Instead of me trying to describe, just go to www.wilddivine.com and read the faq, if you're so inclined .  The just of it is the game responds to your heart-rate and minute amounts of sweat on your fingers. So, anyway, my point of this post is, can you imagine how a game like OPflash would rock if something like this was integrated properly?  Instead of pre-programmed breathsway, a game would actually be able to mimic your real breathing pattern.  If you really panic and get excited as you're playing, they could make it harder to aim.  If you're adrenaline gets pumping, they could do a Max Payne like "slow-down time" effect, to represent what so many people say when life or death situations come up, that everything moves in slowmotion.  Maybe not quite to the extreme that is in Max Payne, but, you know, something.  Or, if your stress levels get too high, your men start to freak out too, perhaps breaking rules and disobeying you, etc. etc.  The potential for this technology as an entertainment enhancement really does seem pretty cool. Unfortunately, that game won't be coming out for a little bit(early Dec.) and I do have a feeling hype is surrounding it, at least somewhat   I dunno, I think I might ask for that thing for Christmas .  There just seems to be so much potential. . .  ps. I don't particular care for the hippy new-ageish slant they put on it.  But nevertheless, it really is based on scientific stuff.  While it's probably in a rudimentary form right now, can you imagine what the possiblities would be like in 3 years or so? Here's to hoping that major game companies get interested. Mark

    Best single player missions

Wow, seems like I'll have a lot of missions to check out. Â I tried Operation Firelord, but it gets hung up in the opening cutscene where <spoiler space> . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. The engineered guy is trying to lift a 5t truck. At least I think he's trying to lift it. It seems to be stuck in the ground, as it just moves a little then starts vibrating. Â I let it sit for 5 minutes and it was still happening. =( I really wanted to play this mission too . Â Ah well, I've been checking out some of the other missions and I must say, you guys have good taste . Â Give me a few more days, and I'll compile my own top ten and let you guys know.

    Best single player missions

Hey toadlife, just gave your mission a quick runthrough (really quick actually, I haven't had time to really sit down with it yet), and I have to say, kudo's! Great job man, it's a lot of fun.  Just what I was looking for.   I do get an error though when I try to load a game it says: "Cannot load 'Users\Viper\Saved\missions\User Missions\operation_lojack_BAS.cain\save.fps'. Error 'No entry" at '/GameState/Variables/Item410/data.value'" I get this error when I save using both the radio menu, and the -savegame cheat. I'm running 1.94 and am using ECP and my addons are only the BAS, if that helps any.  Anyway, I'll have to give your mission a more in depth go later on when I have some time. As a fix, I'll just stop dying so much  ps. Nirvana! Sweet!

    Best single player missions

What are the 10 best missions that show the best of  everything that OFP has to offer?  I imported this game from the UK (I live in the US) when it first came out, and have lurked here ever since.  Suprisingly, I haven't really found many SP missions that I would say fits in a "Top 10 list".  Granted, I haven't really done much searching .  I tried the Virus mission (can't think of the name), but ran across a bug that left me hanging with no way to proceed   Very creative from the parts I saw though.     But more to the point, what do you all, the people that have the same passion for this game that I do, think represents Operation Flashpoint as a War Simulator the best?  Don't have a favorite User mission? What's you favorite BIS mission then? And why? Just wondering away, Sether01 (aka The MightyMF)
