    The iraq pack released!

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">This pack came out WELL before the war. And if you don't like war why are you playing OFP in the first place? Seems very odd to me... <span id='postcolor'> BTW... I don't like war [in fact, I hate war]... and I really like to play OFP. Lets not be one of the dip-shits that fall into equating peacefull entertainment with real-world problems.

    The Iraq Thread

The citizens of the USA equate 9/11 to Iraq out of ignorance and fear.  There are no other reasons for this.  It is, in many ways understandable...but being understandable does not make it right.  Do know that there are many people in the USA that understands this linkage is bogus. The ruling administration/junta that controls the United States deliberately fosters this delusional linkage.  That is disgusting and inexcusable.  It is equivalent to Ariel Sharon using the sanctity of the Holocaust as justifications for the immoral acts of Israel’s military in the occupied territories.  By doing this, Sharon squanders Israel's righteousness and gravely insults all Jews by cynically exploiting our pain and fear to secure political objectives.  BTW, I say this is the pain and fear of all Jews because we Jews are commanded to “view ourselves as if we personally was delivered by the hand of God from Pharaoh.†(from my Passover prayer book).  Hence, I was also delivered from Auschwitz.   Hence (although maybe not all Jews see it this way), I was also delivered from Stalin’s purges, Mao’s “Great Leap Forwardâ€, Pot’s “Killing Fieldsâ€, the rape camps in Bosnia, etc. In the same way that Bush is squandering USA’s righteousness around the world by spreading the linkage delusion, thereby using the suffering and trauma from 9/11 for his own political objectives.  Most people outside of the USA see the transparency in the delusion. I think the irony is that Americans probably do not need to feel that 9/11 and Iraq are linked in order to support war on Iraq.  Most Americans want the USA to be in reality what it is in our ideals; defender of righteousness, liberty, and justice throughout the world.  Most Americans, including myself, believe that it is our duty as moral citizens of the Earth to help deliver the Iraqi people from Saddam Hussein. <side point> You pro-Israel guys – including Avon- please don’t flame me about what I said concerning Sharon and Israel...I do not see everything Israel military does as immoral.  Like the USA, it is a democratic country at war, which needs to defend itself.  The end goal of the war - survival, peace, freedom, prosperity, security - are truly the same goals of the USA in Iraq.  However, proper amounts of paranoia are needed to evaluate the decisions of leaders like Bush and Sharon to understand what OTHER goals they have.  Certainly Sharon’s goals, IMHO, seem more about securing power than about securing lasting peace. </side point>

    Modeling

Wow. I have not made a model for 15 years. I sort of feel like going out and getting a box. There sort of expensive nowadays though. Airbrushing requires skill. I never got good at it. I would by a bunch of cheap models first (assembly for cheaper models can be done in 15 minutes) and just go crazzy. I think some cheaper airbrushes used cans of compressed air so that you didn't have to buy a compressor. And you could buy a used set on Ebay or something. Painting figures is even harder. Use toothpicks and small brushes for those. Many parts (like men figures) need to be painted seperate from the main assembly) It was always my preference to pick one scale in a catagory (ships, plains, cars) and make all my models to the same scale.
  4. I mean...we have all seen the movies 1000 times. We have seen unrealistic, corney, and ultra-realistic. But why so many people go gaga about playing in WWII? I would much rather play with modern weapons (or play with swords for that matter). UMmmm...but I would'nt mind playing a WWII game were you can do nasty adolesent tricks to the Nazi clowns from Hogan's heros.

North korea caught in a lie.

I'm new to these forums (I'm purchasing the game cause the demo seemed really cool). But I notice a lot of anti-American posts. Usually I'm the first to criticize my country, its history, and my very embarrising president. However, I notice that a lot of Europeans have been anti-US/anti-Israel. I also notice that Europeans never march in protest of the extreme anti-semitism that is propogated in the state-owned media in the Arab world. I never hear about protest against suicide bombers....my feeling (and probably most American's feeling) is that Israel right or wrong, attacking deliberately attacking civilians is EVIL. It seems to me that the more suicide bombings there are, the more Europeans support the Palistinian "cause". Oh...maybee the hate and bombings will just go away when the Jewish state gives stops the settlements. NOT! OK. This is all OT. Back on topic... Yes the Korean admission makes the US case for war on Iraq hypocritical and stupid. I think that any case for war on Iraq- other than as a threat to back up the UN resolutions - is stupid and Bush's puppetmasters probably have some self-interested or weird ass motives for it. I think everyone is looking at this in the context of the US's Iraq policy when the important issue here is what will happen to NK now. You see, I believe that NK continues to exists not because it should exist, but because too many external entities want it to exist. Of course the NK commies want the state to continue because they live like kings and have secret ways to get foreign exchange to purchase luxury goods. SK wants the North government to continue because they do not want to pay for the mess of reunification (which would be 10X more expensive for them than East/West Germany reunification). China probably does not care about NK that much, but in no way will allow streams of refugees to flow accross unless someone else pays for putting them on trains and shipping them to some other country. I suspect the Bush Admin wanted NK to exist because they want a verified enemy in North Asia to further justify the military presence. The argument of keeping a military presence there for the sake of continued regional stability (and IMHO, a good argument) does not go well with people if they have no visible enemy. Now Bush has pulled U.S. energy contributions. We are saying to SK and Japan, "NK embarrased us and tried to through a wrench into our anti-Iraq modus operandi. Therefore, we aren't paying for this anymore. You want them to continue to exist, then you keep them afloat".

    What goes through your mind

So I'm a noobie to this community. But here is my opinion on yet another thing I have no experience in. I have never been to war or really shot at. I have been nearly drowned twice. Once when my wife was stuck in a riptide and dunked me when I went to rescue her. Once when I was sailing a small boat, checking out the chicks in bikinis, and ...wham! The boom hits me in the forehead, stunning me, and boat capsizes on top of me. Both times the first thing that came into my head was how stupid I was getting myself into this situation. Simultaneously, I appreciated the phosphorus lights that appeared in my vision. Then I <felt> that I was watching myself. I was not watching myself, but I felt that way. Then I just thought very calmly, yet quickly, what I had to do to get out of the situation. When my wife dunked me, I grabbed her underwater and spinned her around so she could'nt dunk me again. When I was under the boat, I swam down out from under the sail and rigging, then away. I heard other people sometimes get a weird calm come over them after they get into dangerous situations. I just wish that I could pay attention more so I would not get into those situations in the first place.

Who would like to see a futuristic type mod?

Sorry to resurect this. I have 2-3 things to say. 1. Fallout-inspired game would be perfect for OFP cause it would mainly be new skins and static. 1950's style propaganda posters. Bombshelters w/underground complexes. Bicylces and 1950 T-birds. Post nuclear fallout games could combine some of the simplicity of WW2-era weapons - everyone uses hunting rifles, pistols, "zip-guns" (rubber band powered pin one-shot pistol), moltovs. Players could fight over control of water resources. 2. Someone posted a pic about the Steve Jackson game Ogre. It was my first board game after chess that I played everyday. Also doable with OFP. 3. Although not Sci-Fi, but a Jagged Alliance mod would be cool. 4. I'm new to this community and OFP. I just ordered the game cause the demo was cool (and although the FPS wan't great...I cant run any newer game on my system). Question - Why BIS not release animation tie-in tools?

    What kind of buildings/static objects

How about some 5 story high ugly concrete block buildings? All over China and Vietnam the governments only made ugly concrete block buildings during the 50s and 60s (I heard this was common in Europe and Russia too). 2 or 3 models of this would be cool. The usually had 2 stair cases on each side. Sometimes they serve as dormitories, officebuildings, or factories. I've been to many Chinese factories which were ugly 5 story concrete blocks surrounded by ugly walls. JMHO
