    What surprises me is, ArmA is about the best simulator game available, but when I call around to all the game stores in my town, no one has heard of it. I'm sorry, but these kids working at these game shops are brain dead if they don’t know what ArmA is. It’s not like I live in a small town either. This is Chicago. Anyway, I’m seeing pages all over the net saying that the retail boxes will be in stores July 7th 2009,. But not one retail store had a box, that includes, Best-Buy, Frys, MicroCenter..ect. I know someone above mentioned that Best-Buy has it, but according to two different Best-Buy customer service locations, they don't even see any shipments lined up. What the heck is the deal. OMG the world is falling apart. I own the steam version of this game, but I want to order the Retail copy. I already tried NewEgg.com, but they are only taking requests. I guess all we can do is wait!

    3Dsmax ArmA2 modding toolset

    Wow Soul Assassin! I don’t know anything about modeling in ArmA atm, but I do use 3dsMax, and this tool looks very…very cool! I can’t even imagine how much work goes into something like this, but I’m sure it’s not a walk in the park! Thank you so much for your efforts. I can’t wait to download this! :bounce3:
  3. Hi Could someone please list exactly what files are in their mod folder? I have read, and followed everything you guys mentioned, and I'm also getting all kinds of errors. what I did was; I copies the entire Arma1 addons folder to my ArmA2 mod folder: C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA\AddOns ...to C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2\@Test Shortcut = -mod=@Test I then removed the files as horror1 mentioned that don't belong in the game. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong.

    Great job on these Cyborg112, Thank you so much! It’s add-ons like this that makes this game so fun. I love these birds, and I noticed they were missing right away because I always liked to fly around in them. I’m happy I found this post!

    Yes, I live in the US. Thanks guys! that is great news Praelium! I really...really..really can't stand having steam using resources while I'm playing. I mean, as it is ArmA-II uses a ton of resources, and having a content service running just increases the probability of some kind of conflict, or other issues down the line. Thanks Praelius for providing the date btw. Looks like tomorrow is the lucky day. By the way, I'm assuming this retail box won't need to be activated through a content service, despite the fact that it can run without the service, will it still need an online connection to do the first activation? I already have the steam files backed up, so if the retail box still needs to be activated to run, then I won't bother. The reason I ask is, when I bought the HalfLife2 retail box, I still had to have Steam running.

    Hi. I was wondering, Is there any talked about a stand alone version of this game in the near future? I bought it through steam, I probably should have looked around more, but I also don't mind buying it again if I can get a retail boxed version, not dependent on external services, such as steam. I'm not complaining, I'm just wondering because this is such a great game, it would be a shame if steam ever shut down, or went off line, which is a story I hear sometimes. I thought ArmA-I looked amazing, but this is unreal! Some of the textures in ArmA-II are so real I feel like I'm on vacation, not to mention the very real water! The team did an excellent job on this one!

[ArmA] Hello I’m able to set way points up to do the most common things, like getting men to move, or get in vehicles, but I have never been able to get an chopper to fly in from somewhere, land, and than wait at that location for someone to get in it. Once the person or group of infantry gets into the aircraft, I would like to have the chopper transport the men and drop them off somewhere as soon as the man/group is in the aircraft. I can do most of this only if the aircraft in an empty aircraft placed on the ground, but not when the aircraft is already in the sky Thank you
  9. Hi icfhoop I don't' understand what your saying? You can't specify two way points coming off the same group, or unit afaikt. what do you mean by, "make sure the infantry squad has a get in way point on the chopper "? The chopper in half way across the island. So are you saying to run a way point from the infantry group, across the map to the airborne aircraft which is moving towards the infantry? that would seem to make the infantry start walking in the direction of the aircraft which is already coming towards them.
  10. hello icfhoop Yes, that is exactly what I'm trying to do! But there is no Transport load way point option as you mentioned. there is however a Load, and an Transport Unload. I've tried sending the airborne chopper to both a load, as well as an Transport Unload, but when the chopper gets to the load way point, it just goes on to the next way point, and leaves me there. I've even tried join way points. Doses the infantry need some kind of way point to be touching the load way point? Anyway, this is how I had the aircraft way points set up: Chopper (already in the sky)---> Load-WP-------> then to an unload WP Infantry, had no way points, as it was just me standing there waiting. I'm assuming that the infantry/ myself could arrive at the load WP anytime, and just get in the copper, and the chopper will than fly to the next way point?

    Flying planes, and Killing tanks

    Hi Just wondering, firstly; I've set the enemy stuff to easy because it seems that the tanks are extremely accurate, almost to the point where it's fake. I mean I can't even get past a tank running at full speed without it annihilating me. sometimes I'll run past small opining, and it still gets me. Is this normal for this game? Is this more real? The other thing is; I use to be able to fly the helicopters in OFP resistance very well, but something is totally different with the choppers in ArmA. Not to mention you can't even fly into an aria with enemy tanks below without getting shot down in 3 seconds. I don't even have a chance if there are more then 1 tank below. Is there something I need to setup differently in ArmA to make fly the choppers like in the past. Thanks

    @hamis Again, thank you, I found the file and changed, and saved it. But I have to be honest, it didn't seem to make any difference. I tried it on 16 and 32 from where it was originally, which was 8 although, 16 might have seemed to tone it down a little, I might go with that, unless I'm just imagining things. what do the different settings do anyway?

    Wow, thanks guys @walker I'm printing that out. Thanks that should help But as far as controlling the chopper, Maybe I need to hook up a joy stick. it always wants to drop to the ground unless I pull up on the mouse. In OFP-R you could raise your altitude by holding the Q key if I remember. but in ArmA; what raises the altitude other then pulling up on the mouse? You should be able to life the chopper vertically without pulling the nose up, you can in real life. That is not what is happing with my altitude key.

    I know that Mr_Tea, but I’m sure unless enough people contact them on it, it won’t get done. By the way, when I used "the word Junk", I’m only speaking out of frustration. It upsets me because this is one of the first combat games that has almost everything I have ever wanted; Moving Trees/Vegetation, Great landscape textures, and the same great editor. By no means is this game junk, and I was actually logging back in today only to edit my statement. The game is a master piece, but I am so very disappointed in this lighting deal. When I play, I find myself trying to look forwarded, or up, but never down at the ground. If BIS could fix this issue, and implement mulit CPU core support, the heavens will open up.

    You have to be kidding me. It might make too much sense for BIS to test this before going all out. I don’t know what they mean when they say “it simulates real lightingâ€. The best looking combat weather is in rain storms, from what I've seen most people choose, so who needs the sun in your eyes all the time. In the real world, unless the ground is white concrete, the ground is usually darker when you look down, not bright white. It was a good idea, with bad results; the entire lighting system should have been trashed before it even got started. They focused all their attention on a lighting system that was geared towards sunny days. I have always thought that the rainy, stormy weather is the most fun to play in, just my opinion I guess. And you can’t turn HDR off? It never fails; there is always one mess-up to keep a game from being almost perfect. You have people all over the forums complaining about this, and to think they didn’t see this coming? Like none of the beta testers noticed this? Give me a break. Hard coded? How about recode this junk.
  20. Hi, don’t know what you call them, (Surface to air) but I’m looking for an add-on that shoots missiles up from the ground. I think there use to be an add-on like this, but I can’t find it. It was basically a platform that sat under the ground, much like a small underground bomb shelter, but this shot missiles up at air plains from the ground. Any idea about where I can get an add-on like this? I’ve been searching many add-on sites, but I have not found anything. Advanced Thanks

    This map is amazing, I love how the highways are doubled, they feel like real highways and the towns look great. I also like how there are big open fields along the highways, for battle grounds! Would it be possible to replace the road textures with the ones found in tonal island to give the edges of the road a more sand storm kind of look? Great Island!
  22. I can’t remember where but there was an add-on that stuck out of the ground and shoot missiles up at air craft. I’m looking for something that will shoot up at plains, But something that will not be easy for the plains in OFP to blow up. Something that sticks out of the ground, (Not a tank like the M113 addon), but something that is buried that comes up out of the ground when an enemy plain comes near.   23. Hi, I was looking at some tanks the other day at Cantigny Park I saw a sing the said something about the tanks range being 300 miles. My friend is telling me that’s the firing range. I’m guessing the display sign is referring to miles as it how far the tank can drive? Or is it possible for an older (M60 or 46) I believe to fire 300 miles?     Never doubt the power of a lucky shot over a mountain. @Starstreams Are you refering to Cantigny near West Chicago in Illinois? If so I used to go there when I was younger. I remember they had a cool WWI exhibit one time where you walk through a trench and there is a tank over the top of it. I also was a big fan of the willow trees and tanks. Yep, I walked under that thing last sunday. Good thing it didn't fall on me. By the way, I put a link above with some picture in there.
