Kegetys posted a pic, but where is that tool? I mean what’s the big deal, why the hell can’t the developers make some kind of tool for the community? after all I think we are helping to support the engine. This is the kind of $hit that pisses me off, you can’t tell me that green recorder can't be released to the puplic. http://www.theavonlady.org/theofpfaq/images/vbs_200205_07.jpg I’ll tell you, this is by far my favorite game, but it is the worse F..cking game for being user friendly if you don't know scripting. Anyway, thanks for your reply Harnu!, I’m just venting again

Player-starts question for multiplayer-and respawn
starstreams posted a topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
When you make a multi player map, doses there need to be one guy set to (player) for each side just like in a single mission?, or do you set all 12 guys on each team to to “Playable Other question is I'm trying to set it up so when someone gets killed they respawn when they hit their fire key like most of the internet games are set up out there? I'd also like the vehicles to respawn at certain points through out the game? -
Player-starts question for multiplayer-and respawn
starstreams replied to starstreams's topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Thanks for finding this link Snowflake! Sorry it took me so long to reply, man I wish this forum could send emails to you when someone replies, I’ll looking over that stuff again as I’m kind of new and a little green on things when it comes to scrips, but with a little experimenting I should be ok with that link posted, Thanks! -
During a conversation on the phone with a support guy from codmasters, he mentioned that the patch download section is being worked on and that codmasters recommends everyone to go to the flashpoint.1985.com web site for the latest updates. He warned me that the link sometimes doses not work, well I have yet to see it work once http://www.flashpoint.1985.com

Player-starts question for multiplayer-and respawn
starstreams replied to starstreams's topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Thanks bn880, I’ll do that then! Ya, I really what to make a CTF map: I was reading some tutorials on it but it looks so complicated setting up the flags and the AI just right so they go to the flags and bring them back. I had a feeling this was not going to be an easy task -
How do i view a mission from someone else
starstreams posted a topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
I don’t get this stuff; I used the PBOTool101a tool to extract a default mission file called Commander. The PBOTool created a folder that had a bunch of files in side it: some of the files were script, html, and java files. I moved the entire folder from the mission’s folder to my Users’s /Missions folder and tried to load the mission after I had picked my island, but nothing shows up? If the PBOTool is for extracting a mission, then wouldn’t that mean I need to move the folder it creates to my User/Missions folder to open it in the Editor? I’m trying to learn how all this works and its getting very confusing, I just need to start looking at some missions to get an idea of how it’s all put together but I can’t even do that. Can someone please tell me how to load a mission that someone else made so I can see the enter picture? Thanks in advance! -
How do i view a mission from someone else
starstreams replied to starstreams's topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Moving the folder is not a problem; I put it in the missions-sub folder of the Users folder Example C:\Program Files\Codemasters\OperationFlashpoint\Users\Starstreams\missions Anyway, it will not load, I loaded the correct map first but the mission will not load. -
How do i view a mission from someone else
starstreams replied to starstreams's topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Hellow Bosun, thanks for replying! The folder is already called (10Commander.ABEL) that is the name the PBO Tool gave it when it created the folder. I just moved it from the Missons folder of the root of the OFP directory to the Missions folder which is inside the Users folder. I'm not sure why the PBO tool put it in the main Missions folder. Btw, if I can ask something related. When you make a multi player map, doses there need to be one guy set to (player) for each side? "Kind of like in a single mission", or do you set all 12 guys on each team to to “Playable I’m basically trying to set it up so when someone gets killed on the map, they respawn when they hit their fire key, but it’s not working. I'd also like the vehicles to do the same? -

I’ve got a group of plains set up for a support call to Alpha: 4 US A1 heli’s with a Way point on the leader of the group and another way point in the location where they need to go. In the first Way point has wp1==1 for the (Condition) field and then a Trigger with  wp1=1 in the (On Activation) field. The problem is, I have another group of Tanks set up in the same way as the plains but this time for a call to Brovo. When I call in the Tanks, for some reason the choppers come at the same time even though I did call for them. So where exactly do you need to put the triggers for each support group? And doses each trigger need it’s own name? or could I be doing something else wrong? Should I be using wp2==2 for the second support group insted of wp1==1 as on the first group?

In the User folder in the main OFP game folder: There is a 1. Missions folder 2. Saved folder The mission’s folder inside the User folder seems to have all my mission names, however if I go into the Saved Folder, there are three more folders: (A) missions (B) Tmp © Users Then if I go into the next User sub folder there is another folder with my user name and inside that there is another mission’s folder. Well lets just say I’m a little confused at this point. I’ve got a total of 3 Missions folder subdirectories all in the User folder. This is a clean install of OFP and Red Hammer, what the…… is going on.... ?

I am so lost with this  folder thing?
starstreams replied to starstreams's topic in TROUBLESHOOTING
Hello Placbo Well it’s kind of like a mechanic, if you’re going to work on a car you had better know what happens under the hood, and I mean everything. I make maps for Unreal also and I can tell you what any of the folders are for in the Unreal Directory: So I kind of would like to have the same insight with OFP. For some reason I don’t get the same feed back in these forums as I do on Planet Unreal’s.  I don’t mean that to sound negative by the way, it’s just the way it seems. I think what we need on these forums is a messaging system to track our messages so that when someone replies you would get an email sent to your email address. Can you please make the suggestion to the owner of this forum? I'm not sure who that is, but for a high-end game like OFP it should just be this way. And maybe an option to uploaded images in the editing section so people can explain in a Visual way what they are talking about; there would have to be an image uploading size of course. Anyway, People upload images in the Infiltration and Beyond Forums all the time, It really makes life easy, Check it out.. http://forums.beyondunreal.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=23 Would these features be possible? -
Trigger placment problem possible?
starstreams replied to starstreams's topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Ya that has happened to me, try this… Delete the second WayPoint, (the one with nothing) Highlight the leader of that group and try adding that way point again while the leader is selected and test. It seems that the editor creates its scripts by what you have selected. Anyway, if that doesn’t work, try deleting the first way point and do exactly what I said above on the first one/ delete, select leader, add WayPoint again. ><(((*> What’s funny is: if I knew what I was doing for sure, I would go out of my way to create a tutorial with step-by-step instructions and pictures, I don’t know why more people don’t do this to help each other? I know there are lessons on the net but it always seems like the one’s we need are never there, or else they start from the center and go to the end. Where the hell are the basic tutorials for people just starting out? and No I'm not talking about long a$$ paraghaphs but step-by-steps and numberd. This kind of $hit pisses me off to be honest. When I figure this crap out, I will wright and post one. -
Trigger placment problem possible?
starstreams replied to starstreams's topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Rgr, SCLZ, I just have one quick question, and thanks for the info above! Where you mentioned about using tankGroupAdvance==1, Would this line go in the first WayPoint, meaning the one next to the group leader? So another words you are saying that I can input anything into the condition field of the WayPoint closest to the leader, just so long as it’s something different then the way point next the other set of units? Btw, Thanks! --- By the way to -> SpetsnazWarriorX Let me mention one more thing, and someone please correct me if I’m wrong. Every unit has its own waypoint, however I don’t think you can change the behavior in its starting location so as a result they will move to the WayPoint you added. This is why we place a first WayPoint next to them and then another one out where we want them to go: Placing a first WayPoint by the leader of the group is  kind of like putting a door in front of the unit: The unit(s) will move to the first WayPoint which is right next to it and wait there granted you set the waypoint to be activated by a trigger. That’s basically the same thing that SCLZ mentioned above if I’m correct, I’m just trying to help you look at it in a few different ways while learning myself! -
Trigger placment problem possible?
starstreams replied to starstreams's topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Hello SpetsnazWarriorX This is the way it works for me, if I’m wrong someone will correct me I’m sure. To do what you what to do, which is basically what I wanted to do. 1. First make a new group of something like tanks and select the leader, this is the one that all lines connect to, (you can set their rank in the properties). 2. With the Leader of the group selected, choose the Waypoint button at the top of the editor and click over/ on top of the leader of the group to put a way point over or at least next to him. 3. to place a second way Pont/ Double click to the location  where you want that group to move to when they are called by the player (You). 4. Now go back the first way point (the one by the leader of your group) and set the Condition field to wp1==1, Notice there are 2 (=) marks between both #1’s, you also might what to set the behavior to careless while your in this way point so that they don’t move around to much 5. Now click on the trigger button and place a trigger anywhere: probably next to the group to be safe I guess, either way seems to work for me. 6. In this trigger set the “Activation Field†to Radio Alpha or who ever you want to call to have this trigger activated. The tanks will not move until this trigger is activated by the call to alpha. you allso need to put something in the Text field of the trigger, this is the text you will see in the Action menu when you go to call for support. I usualy pust something like Tank Support or Air Support...ect 7. While your still in this trigger, set the “OnActivation†Field to wp=1, Notice there is only one (=) symbol this time. Now keep in mind that if you were to make a another group for a support call such as plains, you would have to make sure that you set the waypoint, The one next to the second leader of the second group to wp2==2 in sted of wp1==1 like we did for the first set. So other words it is the “Condition Field†of the Way point closest to the group’s leader that separates that group from moving to the same way point as the first group. It is also what keeps both groups from moving at the same time. If I am wrong, someone please correct me. -
Trigger placment problem possible?
starstreams replied to starstreams's topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
I wanted one group of plains to move to one waypoint when they are called by me and protect that a location. Then I want another group of tanks that I can call at a different time to their location when needed. I got it to work one way, and then it didn’t work on another map even though I did it the same exact way as the first map. Anyway, there is no point in even trying to explain all this: This forum really needs a file attach feature so we can start uploading pictures of our questions. There are tones of forums that allow you to do this, for example the Planet Unreal forum allows you to upload pictures in your posts so people know what the hell you are talking about. I don’t understand why this forum doesn’t; this is a very high end game, Another thing, there should be a damn book that comes with the OPF game on how to use most of the triggers and advanced settings. There is no reason whey thay can’t produce one for such a dedicated community, I would buy one and I'm sure most others would too. I work 5 days a week so I don’t have all day to work on this stuff. -
Trigger placment problem possible?
starstreams replied to starstreams's topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Hi, thanks DV Chris Death So are the way points you place in the locations you want things to go to, numbered? If so, then what numbers are the way points you place next to your group leaders? That’s the part I get confused on: Say you had 3 groups and a different way point for each group placed in the location they need to go, would thouse locational way points be typed in as wp1==1, wp2==2, wp3==3? I kind of get it, but its hard to picture what Way points you would be referring to, do you know where I can find some missions I can open up and look at? -
