  1. How do you make a unit immortal? I’ve had some replies on this but it’s getting very complicated and I’m not able to do what I need to so I thought I would post this in the main section of this forum. What I’m trying to do is, I want to set up a group of AI tanks as extra support to guard both bases from air assaults. (known as Base killing) I don’t want these Ai units to ever be killed as they are only there to protect the bases. I’ve tried respawsing groups but when the tanks come back there are no men inside them. The reason I want the tanks to be immortal is because people keep killing them with guided missiles and then they start attacking bases which is totally lame. I do not like using kill zones either I think it’s much more natural having tanks guard bases. Can anyone help me find a simple solution to get this to work? Something simple though Thanks in advance.

    Wow it looks pretty deep man. I’m not even sure what an addEventHandler is? I’m guessing it’s some kind of built in component that requires an Acton or parameters. Either way where did start learning this? I mean is there some kind of tutorial that walks you though all the different Parameters? By the way I’ve been putting this line in some of my ammo boxes. For WEST: --- this addmagazinecargo ["LAWLauncher",200] Funny thing is I get the law when the game starts but when I die and come back, it’s never in the ammo box. So if I grab a new LAW launcher it only comes with one law shell? Any ideas on why this is?

    Hay Bart, I just tired it online and it works great. It’s nice because I only had to use one group of Ai tanks for each side so my map didn’t get slowed down too much from having AI in there. It was kind of funny because people kept trying to kill the AI but they would not die and finally they gave up and focused on what the game was really about: “Capturing the flag†Anyway I’m really glad that worked because I’ve always hated Kill zones. At least with this new way it feels so much more real when you are being attacked by entering enemy air space just like in a real war. Like I said I hope more and more people start using Immortal AI to guard their bases! I don’t know how you figured that out but I wish I understood the science of scripting. I’m just glad it worked!

    Thanks for your replies. To Bart.Jan, this is exactly what I was looking for, you are the master. I’m hoping this will work online But I’m sure it will. By the way, will these units ever run out of ammo? I can't tell ya how huge this is!!!!! This made my night!!! I hope more people start using Shikas and Vulcan’s to guard their bases rather then kill zones. It is so much more real doing it this way!
  5. Weather problem/ and AI question 1 First question is, is there some way to set up a group of AI tanks that can not be killed? I would like to use a group of AI tanks to guard my bases rather then using kill zones. Is there some sort of INT setting I can put in for the units so that they can never be killed? (They are only for guarding the bases). 2. Second question is: For some reason the whether in my map is showing up as sunny sky’s, yet I have set it to rainy and it always looks correct when I test the compiled map but when I host a game in gamespy the map is always sunny?

    Harnu, I did exactly what you said but it is not working. If you know how to get this to work can you please make a little demo map and send it to me so I can copy what you did? [email protected] It would be greatly appreciated as I really….really….really what to get this to work! This is the way it should be, Kill zones are so fake but at least with AI tanks you can prevent air assaults in a more natural way.

    It’s not working The problem I was originaly having with Respawing the groups of AI, was that even though the units respawned, there was nothing inside them when they respawned. just so there is no confussion, What I’m trying to do is, I want to set up a group of AI Shilka tanks to help guard the Russian base from air assaults I would like to also do the same for the US. I don’t want these Ai units to die ever as they are only for keeping Base killing to a minimal.

    Hellow Harnu I’m not too clear on where to put what? For example doses Getdammage Tank1 >= .01 get put into the Condition field of the trigger or the Unit itself? Same question for Tank1 setdammage 0 (Dose this line need to go into the triggers On Activation field or the units? Please be a little more spicifice, I'm not too good with this stuff. Also, doses there need to be a trigger for each unit in the group? Do I need to name each tank in the group? Example: Tank1, Tank2, Tank, Tank4? Then this would probably mean I need 4 triggers with the names? By the way thanks!
  9. "flag is not being returned" Some people have complained that the flag is getting lost in my map or is not being returned when the carrier dies. Is there a simple fix for this or is this normal? I did not script the map, I used the pre-made template from the built in wizard to start my CTF map and then I just added things.

    What is the INT line for adding Law-ammo? I don’t know why but my ammo boxes in the game never have law for the rockets lunchers. By the way, what is the best ammo crate to use for adding ammo? There are 3 to choose from: 1. (Ammo Create), 2. (Create II) 3. (Add-ons)

  14. Would anyone here like BIS to release the Visitor Terrain editor for public to use? I don’t see what the big deal is about them letting us use it? What good is it keeping an editor from the public? Even if the community are making their own maps it’s not like BIS will be out of the game. They can still come out with add-on extensions and all kinds of things to sell. It's more maps we want, right? "I do" I bet the Visitor Terrain editor is very user friendly

  16. Is WrpEdit the only program for making islands now? I’ve been though the tutorials for it but were do you find information as far as creating things like run ways. buildings and trees? the tutorial only gives you so much. I don’t know why all this has to be so complicated how are these islands being made? I would really like to know? The run ways must be specially scripted because the Jets seem to know where to land. It would be nice to make a map with two run ways. Anyway it seem that the site that once had WrpEdit is not hosting it? How do I get started in making my own islands that includes adding trees? Has BIS posted any information for the community about this topic?

    Wow this is involved but worth it What do you mean by the trees need to be (binarized) to make them official, never herd that term? By the way, I’m having trouble finding this ofpinternals site you mentioned or at least none of the links I’ve searched for it work?

    I’ll check there thanks Aces! Ya I would imagine it takes an extreme amount of time but I love making my own layouts with cool looking military bases. Kind of reminds me of the old days working with the SuddenStrike editor. man thouse maps took long to make By the way Aces, do you actually make your own islands in OFP? Would you know where I can find a tutorial explaing how to put things like trees in and maybe some info on how to make a run way that the AI plains can land on, kind of like Everon?
  20. I put two kill zones in my map. Both kill zones work good but they give you no warning. Like for example in some maps when you get to a certain distance from the kill zone, you get a warning telling you to be careful basically, but my kill zones issue no warning telling you that you are about to die. How do I set them up so they warn the enemy(s)?

    Scorpio, I don’t see where it says (trigger effects) in any of the triggers? As far as putting text into the kill zones trigger, “I do have text†Zenzelezz, you said to try making another but if I do that what would go in the activation fields of both? If any of you guys could get it to work, would one of you mind emailing me a map sample? [email protected] I’ll try making two right now!

    Other thing is, are you deleting your mission file before saving again, the editor doses not overwrite.
