  1. Leaning is in Arma, i saw it on video smile_o.gif

Oh man, which video is it? Can you remember?

I think I've seen almost all the videos that have been posted here in the last couple months, but maybe it was an older video then that? Or maybe I just wasn't looking for that at the time. Any idea to which video it was in?

  2. It may have been discussed before but haven't found it.

What do u think about looking around using the ALT key (by default, i guess) when ur controlling the soldier or when ur sitting in a heli ?

I personally would prefer (at least as an option in the settings) not having to move some cursor almost to the edges of the screen just to look around. It makes one of the basic physical abilities quite slow and difficult.

I would like it (talking about the helis) to be instant like in BF2 - u can press the CTRL key there and quickly check the surrounding to make sure ur not crashing into something.

    What do u think ?

I disagree with the chopper portion. When you use the look around key while your in a chopper, you need to be able to point out targets. If the camera moves for slight mouse movements it would make the task much more difficult. So, there is actually some genius behind this old feature.

For an onfoot soldier, I guess an instant view movement would be better.

Also, get TrackIR for ArmA. It should make it much quicker/easier to look around at your surroundings.

  3. Well I guess but not to much. In OFP:e you can lean but its just enough to look around a corner.

Very cool! "Just enough" sounds fine.

    Thanks,

You can delete this thread if you wish, or locky locky.......

  4. There is a search function, use it!

Leaning was added back in OFP:E. icon_rolleyes.gif

I did in the ArmA forum. I didn't think of searching in the OFP:E section, sorry.

*EDIT* I just did a search in OFP:E and nothing. Maybe I just suck at using the search.

  5. I hate to make a thread for this question, but do/can real soldiers lean and fire in real life? If so, might it be incorporated into ArmA? (the DMA lean mod comes to mind, but I don't know if that's realistic)

  6. Interesting,

Well, will games be programmed to designate certain areas to certain cores? Let’s say you have a quad-core machine. Most of the core game stuff would be run off of the 1st core. Would other demanding areas of a game be sent to the other unused cores? For instance, nothing but AI calculations would be on core 2 and nothing but Physics calculations would be on core 3? Is this how these mlti-core machines will run future games?

  7. I think BIS could use some new designers or something, the name and theme were never inspiring and now we see this trailer with the same old generic looking units and little gameplay improvements (if any at all), sure if the engine can render more and larger battles and better MP netcode its all good but a good engine doesnt reflect a good game and Arma is lacking. If that trailer shows the current status of the new game i would rather wait another year.. tone down the shine and weird colours (what ever happened to the photorealistic looking textures?), add the features (please) and come up with a decent name and plot now... how about realistic units?

.. the north invaded the south and now the small american force that was leaving will have to fight off the russian Armed Assault (armed because the russians brought weapons) and now we must kill them all but its ok because we have sabateurs and littlebirds and abrams tanks for the new modern conflict... crazy_o.gif .

CWC sounded and felt great, Resistance and Troska were a bit weird but armass just doesnt make sense..

Read the posts above you banghead.gif

There's no point in bashing the game when this could old/VERY old footage. Just wait until YOU play the demo, then form an opinion.

    Until that day...... goodnight.gif

  8. Quote[/b] ](OFP has a BIG box compared to other games)

Other games come wrapped in a piece of paper?

OFP has a DVD case just like every other new game.

As to the ''cd-key'' lost issue, search and you will find.

I have the PC-CD GOTY version that comes in a big box the size of 1-2 stacked textbooks. That is BIG in my opinion, so I just took the cd with me.

    And.....

I did search and I did not find. If you know of an answer please inform me.

  9. To make a long story short....when I cleared out my stuff out of my apartment after katrina hit, I took my game cases with me, but not the boxes to conserve space (OFP has a BIG box compared to other games). I soon realized that the manual was in the box, so I no longer have the cd-key.

I looked in the registry and saw the cd-key, but I guess its encoded, so is there someway to decode that?

I still have the OFP folder in the codemasters folder, but it has quite a few mods installed (the game is acting weird now and I would like to reformat my hard drive), so I want a clean install.

Is there maybe a file in the OFP folder that contains my cd-key? Is there anything I can do about this or am I screwed?

    Thanks,
