    TrackIR use...

The video downloaded fast for me (only a few minutes to dl on a cable connection). Good video btw and thanks for the link to my youtube video
  2. Thanks for not reading the "closing" section. And I quote......"Sorry for my poor Photoshop skills, as this animation is clearly not accurate, but this should give you a clearer understanding of what I mean. Of course the perspective and other things are slightly off (the butt of the gun should be slightly more inward towards the center and the gun shouldn’t be as high and slanted, ect...), but you should be able to see what I’m getting at."
  3. I think you both missed the point. I am talking about the zoom applied to the iron sight/optic view, not the placement of the rifle in iron sight/optic view. Did you look at the animation I posted? I think it shows what I mean pretty clearly....... http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/1899/gunmodeanimation3small2ax.gif I also updated my first post to make this clearer by adding a picture of the iron sight/optic view under the default iron sight/optic view for comparison.

I think you will get used to it. I turned off freeaim for a little bit until I got used to it. Now I have my freeaim set at 50%. It still is slightly disorienting though when running, but I will not play the game without it now.
  5. Yes, only mono works, so you won’t get the surround left/right sharp attack that I was originally hoping for, instead it will only be straight ahead, but you will notice a slight better/brighter sound now with 44Mhz.

  7. I just tested it and it does work, so I don't what the hell I was doing before. I do remember trying 44/16/stereo when I got this new audio program to convert files, which would distort ingame, but I must not have tried 44/16/mono since I assumed it wouldn't work, but 44/16/mono does work, so thats good news. I did a quick M4 test and it has a nice brighter sound now. Good news indeed. Thanks for bringing this to my attention, because it probably would have been overlooked.

  9. Hmm... 44Mhz will give the sounds a more treble/metallic sound, but no stereo is still a problem.... Check your PM box.

    Helicopters in AA

Jesus... dont tell me that You are listening music like thet when flying heli ? And could someone tell me whats the problem with that anoying voice ( like on fast motion) in the backgroud, ive noticed it during some MP games , and its hard to believe that someone is doing that in purpose ( some kind of modification ? ) cause it spoil all the immersion in a secon. I believe people up the pitch which shortens the time of the comment to make the AI respond to actions faster (they don't act until they finish what they are saying)
  12. I had this problem (maybe the same as yours) when I used AF. It's very noticable when I zoom in or use binocs. For me, depending on how low or high it's set, I will see the "middleish" radius of textures flicker with the "closer" and "farther" textures showing up fine. Try turning it off and see if that solves it. If not, must be a different problem.

    FLying the Choppers

Mess with the sensitivity in your "user".cfg file. It's explained in this thread if you haven't seen it. http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin....t=56004 I can't remember, but I think I'm using KeyCat's settings at the bottom of page 2 (btw, thanks keycat)....... <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE"> joystickSensitivity[]={0.600000,0.600000,0.800000,1.000000,0.800000,1.000000,1.000000,1.000000,0.600000,0.600000 ,0.800000,1.000000,0.800000,1.000000,1.000000,1.000000}; Other then that, just practice. I didn't find it too difficult flying the cobra, but I put a lot of time into flying/practicing/joyriding in the littlebird before I went to the cobra. I would say fly the MH-6 for a while in the editor and fly as low and as close to things as possible and land in tuff spaces. This is a good way of practicing, but more importantly, it's FUN!

Fun as OFP? Hell yes! Even more so. It's MUCH improved over OFP. I don't play any flight sims, but I'm really liking this flight model, even though I'm sure there are some wrong things about it that other simmers can point out, but hopefully it will be continued to be worked on. I wonder..... are the only people bashing this flight model using something other then a joystick?

    Joysticks. A question for BIS.

We have this in our plans and hopefully it will be implemented in some future update. Thank you for hearing us out. MUCH appreciated

    Possible to turn off grass?

That is because of how they implemented the iron sight/optics view. I'm not 100% sure, but from messing around with the iron sight/optic view, your eye camera moves down to gun, instead of the gun coming up to your eye. Magic? not quite. -Closer (Optic view is zoomed in) -Thicker (FOV is decreased so thing become bigger) -Taller (The eye camera moves down to the butt of the gun) Now that I think about it, I think it’s technically correct that your view is lower when prone and trying to fire your weapon by looking down the sights, because you are limited by your arm/elbow/ground, whereas when you are not looking down the sights of the gun your head is higher and you are able to scan.

Race sims are console games. On the PC we got more interesting games which require a large exchange of input/output data. In "games" like Halo people will soon be able to fight console gamers in MP Live. Wonder who's going to win. People who can't aim? I hereby declare shenanigans against Darkninja! I don’t (IMO) consider any racing games on consoles as “racing simsâ€. GT4 and the like are the closest you will get on a console, but those still don't even come close to racing sims like LFS/GTR/GTL/rFactor/nkPRO which are on PC. Although, I do think GTR(2) was converted over to xbox(360), but I don’t know if they dumbed it down or not, but either way, I guess that would probably have to be considered the most realistic racing sim available on a console, since GTR is a realistic racing sim on the PC that was converted over to a console. But once again, you miss the point. People here want a joystick/wheel/gamepad to FLY and/or DRIVE, not to control your soldier/aim and shoot a weapon (though there might be a few weirdos out there ).

Wow, from a comment like that, I guess you either don’t play racing and/or flight sims, or if you do, you must not take them seriously.
  19. I don't know if you were responding to me or just in general to others, but I wasn't refering to your addon and multiplayer, I was refering to BIS and if they included a no grass graphic option. BTW, you haven't posted your system specs yet
  20. Well, if everyone had a choice to have it or not, it gives people without it more of an advantage online. Now, if they had a server side option that would be great, but people would still be bitching, because they will want it on or off. I personally would love to see graphic options for grass, tree sway, HDR, ect... Then so many people with low end systems won't be left out in the cold. Then when they decide to upgrade they can really enjoy the beauty of ArmA, but like I said above, if these were single player options, they have to also be multiplayer server side options.

Wtf? I'm not sure I quite understand you clearly, but I guess you don't understand that we want to use a joystick to FLY, not control our soldier. Same thing goes with driving. If you play a racing sim, you really want/need a wheel and pedals. Same thing goes with a flight sim, you need a joystick. So what are you talking about? Some people want to use a wheel and pedals for this game (For me using a wheel and pedals for this game just doesn't seem necessary due to the horrid driving model. I may give it a try though, just for the hell of it, but I'm not expecting much. I may use a PS2 controller if it works better then a mouse, but I at least HAVE to have a joystick to fly. BTW, good job on the flight model BIS), so what does this have anything to do with console gamers ?
  22. Thanks for this addon . It really makes a difference for people with lower end computers. Here are some numbers I got from quick testing (All facing 50 Azimut) -------------------------------------------------- -Top of Mountain 402 (all on the dot next to the numbers) (N.S. grassy area with trees) 35 vs. 47 -275 (N.S. in forest) 25 vs. 29 -174 (S.S. Somato, some grass over looking the town) 24 vs. 25 -174 (Same position, but hovering in the MH-6) 19 vs. 19 -Street (S.S. Parasio all buildings with little grass) 19 vs. 20 As you can see the results are obvious. Since you fixed a huge performance drop for low end computers with grassy areas, hopefully someone will figure out a "fix" for forests (maybe no tree sway will help fps? since every tree moves) and towns/cities. Whats interesting is that just sitting in a chopper eats up about 10fps (quick estimate and quick test). I’ll check this again later, but I can’t believe that just sitting in the cockpit can eat up that many frames. BTW, eJay, can you post your system specs.? (Mine is P4 2.8, 1 gig ram, AIWx800xt, audigy2)
  23. It doesn't work. I use "W" for walking forward (toggled to make walk default) and hold shift temporaily to jog/run. I have my evasive forward button as "F". Even then you still have to let go of "W" to stop, since you are LOCKED into a full sprint. Like I said before, the evasive move button needs to work like a “walk or run temporary/toggleâ€. I tried using using FastFwd/Turbo instead of evasive forward, although it allows you to return to a jog from a full sprint, using FastFwd/Turbo for player movement gives you animation issues. This game and it's animations were not set up for that use. To Bunks, That's why you get weird animation issues, because you are probably using FastFwd and/or Turbo for player movement.

    Gun view movement is "TERRIBLE"

You would have to edit your bin.pbo config. My guess would be just delete the name for weapon crosshairs and the grenade/203 should still be there because I'm sure it has a different name, but remember you'll get some kind of mismatch error online if you can actually join the server.
  25. What I think he means is the evasive move button (default 2xW) should work the same way the “walk or run temporary/toggle†setting does… meaning you have control of your player smoothly, so when your player is in an evasive move forward, he can come back down to a jog or walk instead of being locked into a full sprint where the only way to come out of it is by letting go of W which makes you come to an instant halt. I have the EXACT same issue with the controls of the game (I also use shift for “temporary runâ€). There is also another issue with the fact that we do use shift for our “walk or run temporaryâ€, which is that when the game starts your default movement is run, so you have to reverse things by toggling “walk or run temporary/toggle†to make it where you press “shift†to run. There should be a way have “walk toggle†ON by default when you come into the game, so we can use a temporary run button like “shiftâ€.
