Dynamic viewdistance XEH by [GLT] Myke
quiet_man replied to [frl]myke's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
sounds good, I was just thinking that it should be connected to FPS now it becomes really sophisticated QuietMan -
uuh, I said "maybe", just speculation if the webside is down it looks more like the music virus QuietMan

I would do five villages, one large civil, two medium military and one small expedition. Each one at one edge of the map, with the two military once at opposing sides and one small expedition camp in the middle of the map this way it should be possible to do all sorts of survival or military operations missions QuietMan

looks very good. QuietMan

Dynamic viewdistance XEH by [GLT] Myke
quiet_man replied to [frl]myke's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
hello Myke, very good idea my only concern is that I don't want to have the same viewdistance walking on a 1000m high plateau like flying 1000m high so a small change I would suggest is replacing with something like on a small test with STM_minViewDistance = 1500; STM_maxViewDistance = 6000; STM_estFlightLevel = 3000; it looked good, comparing climbing with flying. Regards, QuietMan -
and by the way: Aliens? QuietMan

tried everything except "careless", maybe I write a simple script that limits the speed, so the AI will less over steer yea, on the turret the vertical axis is somehow the wrong way, if you move to mouse up the turret goes down and the other way round. QuietMan

what? QuietMan -
nice one. I played around with it, maybe you can give me some hints. I tried to make a simple mission with one mothership and some escorts coming from the ocean. Now even when setting flyhigh to 1500 the mothership manages it to crash into the sea. Overall the UFOs seam not happy to follow waypoints, is this intended? QuietMan

as far as I know CW is also non-profit, so according your definition he is free to copy your stuff as you are free to copy from MGM, as long as he puts an according disclaimer to his releases as you do. Regarding the "use" of your work, any Map or mission designed for using an addon does rely on it. Even sometimes addons are "modified" by mission scripts. On this kind of discussion people very often mix up what they "feel" is right and what is "legal" right. What I find currently irritating is that people from your mod jump into discussions as if they have the "rights" but in fact it is only their "feeling" something is not right. And this is pretty messed up as legally he is doing nothing else than you do. So on the legal part I find your people talk about "rights" much more dangerous than what CW is doing. On the feeling part you still failed to convince me that CW is doing something wrong. There are gray zones like releasing corrected/improved addons from people that don't answer messages. This is discussed since early OPF days and was never solved. For addons that use/depend on other addons, even BIS has taken the side that this does NOT need permission because it is a basic concept of their engine to not have to create everything from scratch, as long as the unchanged original addon is required for it to work. See also recent PKW_Pilots discussion where the creator got a warning. So what is left? People jumping on a newbe and say he is "stealing" and thread him to make his name bad because he is investing his spare time into something they don't like? Sorry, I'm not willing to follow this way. There are too few people doing work at all. QuietMan -

Oh look, colonel well's holding his breath again. Wonder if he'll stamp his feet next? Oh, the StarGate in the complex doesn't belong to colonel well and he'll need my permission if he wants to spawn it with the complex (i'm sure that correct). I can dial between maps in single player but not multi for obvious reasons. were is your permission to copy Startgates? edit: and by the way, he don't need permission to spawn, as long as it requires your original unchanged addon. Or you add a disclaimer that no one should use your addons at all. the options on copyright laws are endless. QuietMan -

and they think they are police and judge of the Arma community? CW had tried to contact the "author" = someone who ripped content from a TV series without permission. As this "author" seams no more interested in the stuff, CW decided to release. Now someone jumps in and says he would inform any site that CW is using "stolen" content? Sorry, that is one step to far. If you don't like what CW is doing you are free to state so and no one forces you to support CW. But you have no right to threat him. Even less as you have no permission on your own. Read my post at the "Rules of content permissions." and think about it. I want to decide my own if CWs stuff is "legal" enough, I don't need someone to judge for me. If you don't change you mind, the DSF mod is no more part of MY community. Regards, QuietMan -

Hello YacieK, good work. what William is trying to tell you is that your units are not recognized as "Pilots" by the game. They are soldiers. Standard Arma makes no big differences, but as soon as an addon or mission sript is looking for pilot your units show as Soldier. Then it becomes an issue. You should make your pilots from Arma pilot class to avoid problems. That is why BIS made the classes. Regards, QuietMan

YES, it is Friday and great weather for flying QuietMan

looks good, but before you invest to much work into the model you should try if it works in Arma at all I'm not sure if Arma standard anims can handle long arms and legs QuietMan
