CM Operation Flashpoint 3 announced | "Oops, they're doing it again..."
PuFu replied to Undeceived's topic in OFFTOPIC
Those aren't even 3d renders, but rather 2d concept art screens... Anyhow, they are not fooling anyone anymore i guess. Last time i checked the RR forums, there were dead, and there was a post about a very important press release...and that was 2 weeks ago -
WIP: Stuff you are working on 2!
PuFu replied to max power's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
i thought this is the WIP thread though. Regarding comments, Enad was rude(but it sort of expected from his part). Darkhorse wasn't in the real sense. But no matter what i find such comments a bit strange: how does an addon, which isn't made by you, which might be available for ace or any other mod out there just as it will be for the rest of the peeps as a standalone release, affect you? Do you have an inferiority complex of some sort? I am sort of feed up with this sort of mindless comments, no matter what mod that is about. A mod/addon means a lot of work most of the time, and even if you are not using that particular mod, you can at least respect the time spent for having additional content and functionality available in this community. So while i agree with Max that it doesn't mean it was a rude comment(darkhorse), i have to say it was more than unnecessary for the topic. -

Unwrella is nice and all, but it's scope is organic models, where you will never have true tangent projection. There is no automated UV unwrapper out there for hard surface models AFAIK. I suggest you grab TexTool (free script pack), as it will help you down the road a lot more than max default UV unwrap tools. My workflow for UV unwrap: Grab the model, flatten map it al (normalize ON), then start stitching the large islands together based on where i want the seams to be, smooth groups etc. Certain parts need more work than other, obviously. There are tutorials about the subject, but again, none will teach you how you UV unwrap your own model. You need to understand that it takes a bit of time and practice. I don't see why not. You can drive on the platform, then use attachTo to have it stick :) Not sure, but granQ recently posted a WIP concept HERE -

i agree with Alex. on some vehicles interiors would be nice to have, on others are mandatory, on some it is just not worth it. The paladin fits in the last category :) -

The limit is 32k (faces, points whatever hits that mark first), not 20-25. It is also a matter of smooth type used -

O2 is free. blender is free. there are learning/students license available for autodesk and some others. The software is hardly an excuse if you really want to do something -
care to share a poly count on the interior for instance?

Dear Mr McDonald, Thank you for your interest you are showing towards my work, Unfortunately, the model i have in the works it's a BMPT, not a BTRT. I hope that doesn't bother you that much. Best Regards, PuFu :D PS: sorry for the slight OT nod
-
great job Nod! I really hope you'll be able to get all that in!

true, but model making doesn't come cheap. oh, there is no such thing as gameplay for a sim, not in the common sense you and me uses it anyways. LOL. Not even close to it. If you think every greenhorn out there has access to it, you are soo wrong

nice pala alex. let me know if you want help :). I am gonna be doing uv mapping myself the few days anyways (will post a pic of smth similar laters on) -
god ben, it is you again :) Yes, it is pricie due it NOT being aimed for the civilians, and not being considered a game, but a learning tool. I'd say it is fairly price (especially with no competition). Bear in mind that there is software a lot more expensive out there (adobe ones, autodesk ones etc).\ So the 1500$ price tag is something you also pay for the support you are getting. It is sort of obvious that the new features are added to it before moving to A2 (i still have hopes that r2t will be available in BI commercial games next year).

Nail on the head on most. The animation system needs a revamp though (increasing the fluidity of the gameplay by interlacing the individual anims vs the way it is now, when you got some sort of time outs between certain anims).

GeometryFire Error while trying to generate ST for poin
PuFu replied to Alliexx's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MODELLING - (O2)
Yeah, what SA said. The ST errors are not related to UV at all. Just Ignore it -
i would guess that is a weight issue, which you can fix by further messing with the selections in O2 (doing it the way myke described fr instance)
