Question for devs or someone seriously knowledged..

If this is mission related, then you are in the wrong section (and you won't be getting the answer you are looking for). -
Requesting painting weights tutorial for Arma 2
PuFu replied to Reikso's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MODELLING - (O2)
right i understand what you mean now. I actually never tried that, so i am not sure what it takes to make it work. AFAIK, the lads using maya to create 3d content are not that many in this community, so i doubt you'll get your answers. Anyhow, would be good if you would post the error you got on trying to export the said weight script. PS: THIS is something that would be needed, but i doubt it will ever become available for BIS games -
Improvements I believe a decent number wants

Requesting painting weights tutorial for Arma 2
PuFu replied to Reikso's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MODELLING - (O2)
importing your weights from Maya is not possible atm (3ds/obj doesn't save that information). You will need to re-weight it in O2 (something i am not accustomed to unfortunately) -
Maya character animation workflow...
PuFu replied to Skwurl's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
If this isn't working, then you are out of luck, unless you actually create your own tool. http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=4117 btw: the RTM tookit is discontinued, as teacup has left BIS community PS: the modding community is currently making only static anims via O2, until proper tools for professional grade software will be released/created. Creating anims is possible via O2, but the workflow is hardly easy, especially since you need to work on each frame. -
What if CryEngine was used as Arma 3 future engine?
PuFu replied to jonneymendoza's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
It is still the same stuff more or less: directX, .NET and so forth. Even though changes have been made, stuff works more or less. Same goes for BIS games -

Improvements I want, and maybe some other people but it's arrogant to assume...
PuFu replied to Ironman13's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
You should get your facts(read the BI tools EULA for instance). The IP for the mesh is mine, especially if i use another software to create it than O2. Obviusly, O2 cannot be used for commercial products, but that doesn't mean BIS owns any of my work i did for their games.. -
I couldn't care less, since i use a Joystick :) And so should anyone else who flies more than a few minutes per game

PuFu replied to Ironman13's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
I'm sorry, i don't feel comfortable for you to speak in the name of the said community, or in my name in particular. It's more honest to entitle your post as: Improvements I want Aren't they all? .You do realize this is by design, don't you? And you do realize there are mods that changes this default behiviour? It is possible in OA as well, at least last time i checked...You got two animations though, and yes, i consider that a bug. Agreed. There is no need for mlods. At the very best, some aditional samples would be nice to have. True Or at least that is your impression... -
Do you want upgraded Arma 2 content?
PuFu replied to AnimalMother92's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
This is beeing requested every few weeks, irc, you have made those suggestions before, and you got the same reply You won't see this happening in this version of RV engine. That is something that will need a lot of changes to the core, so it isn't even worth suggesting I guess that is fair to ask, since parts of the code are already in... Same as shooting from vehicles. You won't see it in this version of RV engine. IF VBS has it, it doesn't mean A2 will.. _________________________ ALL points aside, what does this has to do with the current subject? -
I see your POV Zipper. But then again, i have to agree with MadDox. I am making no comparison further with any other games, but i do agree with one fact: A2/OA is not a polished game. It does have a lot of rough edges. If you want your game to be seen as a finished product, you need more time spent streamlining the users game experience. From the animations and theior reactions to user input (which do look real but are very clunky at times) to the UI, and scalability. It is a great engine underneath it all, with has a lot of power and opens a lot of possibility. For most of us around here, that is enough, but for the first time players, even if they put a lot of time into learning it, the simple fact that they need to tweak the game's configs, startups etc means they can't get the fullest out of the box, without further tinkering...

Unable to load multiple models
PuFu replied to johncage's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : ADDONS - Configs & Scripting
without additional info *such as your current cpp used* i doubt anyone will be able to help out... -
i agree. the 17-25 is way too wide. Should be 17-20, 21-25 at least the OP should contact a moderator for it

you should seriously read the forums rules:

i tried cpuCount=6 with exThreads 5, 6 and 7 with no difference whatsoever. turning the hyperThreading from bios is not an option since it is used by most of the professional software and rendering engines i use. the question was for ppl also running 6 cores i7/xeons with ht on

for an i7 970(6 core, 12 threads), recommended threads is...?

I got a Zalman MS1000HS1. Without pushing the voltage over the top you won't be able to push the i5 2500k over the 4.2Ghz I got a 1.3v for the 4Ghz OC -

Do you actually have first hand experience with the H70? Well, I do. I got a i7 970 6 core OCed from 3.2 to 4Ghz, and it stays in idle bellow 20degrees, and never above 40degrees in full load... Keeping you CPU cold means more lifespan from your hardware. Yes, you can OC your proc on stock cooler, but 60 degrees in idle and 90 in full load will not make it happu 1.445 is a lot for the i5, especially when it's stock is 1.1. But is also ugly as hell...For some it matters to have a slick case on your PC, without all the bling bling, leds and whatever else you like.. -

there are 2 existing threads for this sort of topic, both being STICKY! http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=72181 http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=87256 -
Due my own time constrain, and SA, the first release it will be compatible only with 3ds max 2011 onwards (where CAT is integrated, but might work with previous versions as well as long as CAT is used as a plug-in). The above RTM should be included in the next 3dsMax plugin updated (according to my last discussion on the subject with SA, who is doing all the scripting part as well as the tool integration). The rig you see there needs additional adjustments for the controllers (fingers, etc), and skin weighing on the CAT bones. I have already started (but it is on hold due to RL commitments) the rig based on the MAX default bones system. I have no idea how much time and what changes would require to modify the CAT script for it. That is SA part :) CAT

animating is already possible in O2. NO, it is not an easy job, but it is more than possible. Mocap is not mandatory when using todays professional grade software (which do cost quite a lot though..) Here is the image of a RTM exporter setup myself and SA been working on for 3ds max using the CAT system:
