It creates a shortcut to launch the beta in your \Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 folder. At least thats what I have been using without any issues.

What do the very last 50 or so lines say in the rpt file? open it in notepad. Usually a dll or something causing arma2.exe to crash ... something like this .... ------------------------------------------------------- Exception code: C0000005 ACCESS_VIOLATION at 7301F4E2 Version 1.04.59026 Fault address: 7301F4E2 01:0002E4E2 C:\Windows\system32\d3d9.dll file: Domination_7thCav_Pub (__CUR_MP) world: Chernarus Prev. code bytes: 04 E8 51 02 FE FF 89 BE 20 2B 00 00 3B FB 74 0F Fault code bytes: FF 47 0C 39 9E 78 2C 00 00 0F 85 05 91 05 00 81 Registers: EAX:00000000 EBX:00000000 ECX:30C01DC4 EDX:00000088 ESI:0FD1CD20 EDI:00000088 CS:EIP:0023:7301F4E2 SS:ESP:002B:2EDFFED0 EBP:2EDFFEFC DS:002B ES:002B FS:0053 GS:002B Flags:00010206 ======================================================= Also if you rclick on your my computer icon and go to manage / events, there is a error in red listed with the crash info. Sometimes this information helps to resolve the issue. I would say list your systems specs and all that, but IMO thats irrelivant since you stated you played for a bit; thus your system must meet min specs.

German Metaboli Version to English?
pchaxor replied to pchaxor's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I did learn some German ... "Kaufen Sie nicht ArmA Spiele von Metaboli" -
505 Version: Release Date & Other topics - EU/Aus/NZ/SA/ME/Israel etc.
pchaxor replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
I live in Northern Indiana and can't find a copy anywhere at any local stores. I checked (2) Game Stops, Walmart, Meijer, and Target. Nothing at any of them and infact none of of the locations have even heard of ArmA 2. I am so close to just ordering the DVD version from newegg but am hestitating and wondering if I do, am I going to need the DVD in the drive every time I want to play or does it activate and not need it after that? Anyone know? Arma 2 PC Game GOT GAME - Retail IDEA Games is on the box. -
German Metaboli Version to English?
pchaxor replied to pchaxor's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I understand, but it does and will effect my (and others) future purchasing decisions. Not that it makes any diff. People come, people go. I do use the english files, however there are some missions out there that look at the core language and use that for option menus etc. No way to fix that. I suppose I can take it up with Metaboli, but I have an email says they dont deal with it and to get support from BIS. Not sure if the monkey that answered the email is on the same page as you. I know one thing for sure though, I won't make the same mistake twice. :) Again, at the time of purchase it was all there was and I did want to show my support. I also did think the official English "patching" would have come by now. My bad. I did/do plan on getting the Hard Copy for US version, but so far it has not been available in my area. Not sure why, but 4 different locations and nadda. Not sure what the factors were in choosing 505 but seems they kinda dropped the grenade (ball) on getting the game into people's hands that want it. -
German Metaboli Version to English?
pchaxor replied to pchaxor's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
You are serious? Feel free to edit your post as it is the GAYEST thing I have ever heard. No, I never said "BIS has to CATER to me" LOL your being rediculous. W0llE is a great Moderator, but not the FINAL word for BIS I hate to say. And the search I did was in the forums here under advanced. heh? Do me a HUGE favor and stop posting in my thread until you actually have a word of intelligence to add, or perhaps something that would help. Right now your just dumping gas around yourself and trolling. Seriously; piss off already. The Facts: - I paid to use the game not knowing that it would never have the english option in it. I think the forum conversations back then was .. "eventually it will have english when the english files are ready"; perhaps in a patch. - I am unable to find a hard copy in my area, showing that perhaps 505 isnt doing a good enough job distrubuting it, thus making it hard for me to find it and make a purchase to play it in english. To sum it up - I did research which version I was getting and purchased it anyways. Thinking that one day they would patch it. I did do a search and came up dry. (This post comes up on top for me anyways?) Oh and I WILL in the future research and you can bet that if BIS don't fiX this then I am sure not just my sale will be lost. (edit to spare some face) **** Oh and Mods can lock this now or whatever, I suppose I got my answer and nothing anyone says from here on will make a diff. The rest is up to the decision makers at BIS. The rest of the posts to follow will just be gas or flames, so it really isn't going to contribute to the value of this forum or add any value to this post. Thanks all! -

German Metaboli Version to English?
pchaxor replied to pchaxor's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I just tried to go buy the US version at several of my area stores known for selling games. I hit (2) Game Stops, Walmart and Target and could not find it at any of them. Game Stop doesnt even have it in their computer!! LOL!! No, I am not getting the Steam version and I know it is available via newegg and internet sources. I spent $58 USD and some stupid conversion fee like damn near $70 on a copy of the game I cant even have an option for English???? Good Gawd that is gay. Bestellnummer: 544422 Beschreibung: ARMA II Datum: 30/05/2009 Preis: 39,99 EUR And you can flame me for it all you want, but I could honestly care the hell less about a contract between BIS and Petergames/Metaboli. I AM THE CUSTOMER!!! Perhaps Petergames would like to refund 25% of the cash I layed down since I am missing that much of the ENTIRE game?!?!? I would have bought the game had I found it locally today. I didn't find it. This is truely it for me and ArmA and I am sure BIS or Metaboli could care less. Oh and I did search and ADVANCED search for the Word ENGLISH before I posted. Go try it and tell me what you get. LOL stupid search doesnt even work. Please Link the thread that answers my question? And also ... just FYI, I purchased the German version because I wanted to show my support and such. I have also been a community member of OFP/ArmA for well over 8 years. I have no problem BUYING a hard copy of the 505/US version if I can find it locally, but in this case I have a VERY EXEPENSIVE electronic copy that I cant even play in my native language. I also like using the electronic version to turn friends onto it after I get my hard copy ... (thats what I did with ArmA) - This just blows, and YES I am crying about it. Had I know this back then ... sure I would have still purchased it, but I didnt KNOW and assumed it would get fiXed just like ArmA did. WTH BIS? FiX this and make it right please. -
German Metaboli Version to English?
pchaxor replied to pchaxor's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Well my problem is that it is now effecting mission variables where the menu's in the missions are showing up in German even though I have been using the english langauge files. (You need to use the signed ones) - No I will not send them or link to them, BIS needs to patch this so we at least have the English Option built into the game. I have already contacted Petergames/Metaboli, but they say I need to get support from BIS as they do not support the game itself. So here I am. Why the heck hasn't this been done already? Is there no demand for it or what? They fiXed ArmA many years back adding the english language. I think this is the last time I support them by buying into their early German Petergames/Metaboli version. -
37 years young here.

Hey I pre ordered it with low expactations. I am not claiming it is going to suck or be great. I am just curious about all the hype and want to see it first hand. If it sucks I will just sell it on ebay for 1/2 price, or perhaps place it with my original Operation Flashpoint box so I have a cool looking pair to show my grandchildren. One that was great and the one that totally sucked. :D Either way it will be fun!
-
In 1 Week from today it ships. (If not delayed) Then 3-7 days later it gets patched? (I assume MP and bug fixes perhaps) Then we as a community should test it based on playability as a game. We should not compare OFP2 to ArmA 2 .. they are just not on level playing fields. ArmA 2 is Military grade for cripes sakes. OFP2 I think is or will be a console grade shooter more compareable to COD or the BF series. Limited view distance and limited in all aspects. If CM was trying to continue the OFP line of simulation, I can already tell you that it didn't happen. (not with all the limitations) The more obvious and dead give away is that (I think) the demo was canceled because it will directly effect $ALE$ (in a bad way). Why else would a company not want people to "sample" a product to BOOST sales? It is because I think the demo will show people what they are actually buying. Once a game is SOLD and opened .. you dont get to return it. Done deal. Buyer Beware. I will be sure to give an honest eval when I get it and play it for a bit. Being fair about it and NOT comparing it to ArmA 2. I am sure the OFP2 forums will also reflect what people think of the game as well, so dont hold your breath on my eval. lol ArmA 2 is by far the best combat simulation available. Hands Down. Nothing can touch it.
-
Well without the mod tools the OFP2 community will die within a year. Hopefully CM sees past the initial sales and wants to actually compete with BIS. If not they may as well just change their name to EA. (1 Time Sale Champions!)
-
Good to know. I am sure after a few days they will have to do something to keep the forums from filling with complaints. (probably shut them down for "maintanance" - haha) So I think even a few days of Single player wont kill anyone, but I am truely a MP kinda person and enjoy some good tactical combat with "like" players. (AI just seemn to EZ in most cases) We will see. I also have a PS3 that has some empty space on the HDD, perhaps if the PC copy is good enough and the Console gets some good reviews... Yeah ... If the PC version sucks I will just eBay it and try to get some of my $$ back and write CM off as a lost cause. We will see... if it is better than BF2 or even has modding capabilities; chances are the community will make it "worth playing". Yeah .. We will see. Ill shad up about it for now.
-
I purchased my copy when it was first released from Metaboli. Since it took BIS waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too long to find a US publisher, I just gave up thinking of getting an actual US published copy. I will now just wait for it to be in the bargain bin at Walmart for $20 and only buy that to actually have a hard copy to play 10 years from now. LOL (I like this version better anyways since I don't need a DVD spinning in my drive) I did quite a bit of research on OFP2 and think it will be fun in the multiplayer world for a few weeks and then back to ArmA 2 I will go. I am not bashing OFP2 (yet), but I am keeping my expactations to a realistic level so I don't feel completely bent over. LOL

pchaxor replied to Aelin's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
He reinstalled from scratch. His problem is that he is using the wrong patch(es) for his version. Easy problem, he just needs to learn to READ is all. As soon as he does and VERIFIES what he is doing, then he will be ok. :) -
I have pre-ordered the OFP2 game. (Since it is actually being released in the USA *cough*) I will be fair in evaluataing it, however the lack of TrackIR support for Infantry and not being able to freelook as infantry is very limiting and a poor decision by CM. This scores big points for ArmA 2. Also many other limitations just makes the game sound like a BF2 wanna be instead of a combat simulation game. I do know that there will be freelook and TrackIR support for vehicles and aircraft, as limited as it may be. I also know that OFP2 "should" need less system resources to run and is "supposed" to run smoother than ArmA 2. I don't have any issues with ArmA 2, so this game should run super smooth.

I hear ya! Goshen Here. At least we have Cable Internet heh?

my 2 cents Choose whatever path leads you to Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit Most OEM's are doing free upgrades for the Vista Premium option. If this is not the case then WAIT for it. I run Win7 Ultimate 64bit and ArmA 2 LOVES it. The drivers are there. No worries. (unless you have legacy ISA card for gawd sakes) !!!! ----> I have Not had 1 single crash since loading this. (Aug. 10th) And yes I am running the FINAL RTM, not Beta. (MPP Subscriber) Good Luck!

Do this.... 1. Remove the game completely *** Be sure NO trace of the old installation remains before reloading! - Rename or Delete folder C:\Users\%profile name%\Documents\ArmA 2 - Rename or Delete folder C:\Users\%profile name%\Documents\ArmA 2 Other Profiles 2. REBOOT 3. RUN chkdsk c: /f /r (or whatever drive the game is installed to) 4. DEFRAG your installation drive 5. Reinstall the game I know you say you have no addons, but the errors you are getting means that either an offical addon or something else has data corruption or is not being read correctly. (signature problems) If this fails then just give up, cuz there is a problem with your PC hardware or some other variable that you will never figure out. Memory and Hard Drive is the most suspected and problematic things on a PC. Good Luck! -

Your Show stopper is your Laptop Processor for sure @ 2.0 Ghz - and the mobile (Intel?) Video Card Thats just not going to be enough to satify this hardware hungry game. This game is HIGHLY reliant on the processor and I am sorry but the T5800 is just an Intel "budget busting" chip that kept the laptop prices down and was not really developed for gaming. Also, I see no mention of your Video card in your specs, (standard Intel Integrated Graphics card?), no sound card information or Laptop model even. (Dell Inspiron 1525 ?) Providing more information in the future will lead to faster and more accurate answers. :) Just FYI ... Getting off topic here peeps. I think the base of this thread is that the Protection that was put in place to prevent piracy has actually effected a PAYING and much respected Clan/Customer. I find this unacceptable for any software company and this should be addressed or the protection removed ASAP before that "locked front door" keeps customers from "entering the store at all". So has this issue been resolved and now this thread is closed or should we carry on about the views of other software developers and turn this into a "why software protection is bad for business" thread? I think Mods have the ability to change the topic title if so. :) (listen to me sounding all high and mighty. LOL)
