I PM'ed Q that I like to help him with the new UI design. But I allready have one concept I love to show you guys and to get comments on. NOTE: this is all photoshop work, nothing ingame! This is also a question to Q, is this the minimalistic style you like or even without the animations in the BG? Main Menu: Idea I have here is to show up the icons on the side like the MP one. Multiplayer list: As a funny side note: I think I've actually used the original OFP font this one somehow felt the most appropriate off my 1500font list I actually DO like the current ArmA main menu, only the useless gradient I like to see replaced, but Q's idead to create a minimalistic clean lay-out also appeals to me

I have no ideas at this moment how much this will change for the entire game style and such, but there are a couple of games being made that are playable on both pc and x360 and both sides play together online! It would be great for ArmA2 if this is possible without any big changes in gameplay

More realism is always a noble goal but I think your working title has got a bit Foxtrot Uniform I didnt make the name up . The only reason im keeping this name is because its the project name, and not the name for the public release. Think he means that Alpha Echo does not make E.A. *to be more clear, I mean the order of the letters not anything company related

I love the smoke, it looks great! But the fire of burning crashed choppers has some way to big particles, they even get pixelated and I think it is a bit to much.

Why I think ArmA will still be better than OFP2
paragraphic l replied to opg4740's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
It was never a secret that ArmA was planned just as a graphical update of the OFP engine... just because it became more makes people ranting now...they obviouisly never get satisfied. I start to believe that this is something only OFP veterans really understood, costumers who where just looking for a new game when ArmA was released would not have gotten this impression when looking for info about the game. But yeah in most pre-release interviews ArmA was called OFP 1.5 and only in a few well informed (P)Reviews this was also mentioned. -
I think he is looking for something like this OFP thread: Turn OFP into your favourite game! I think it is too early for such a thread, everyone is still testing and fiddling around and most add-ons/mod's are still WIP's. XAM is a great mod, but if the file size is a problem for you then I'm not sure the 1.7gigs are worth it, i've been testing it and I don't think it add's that much to the gameplay atm. The real tools are just released, so you have at least a month of reading the Add-on forums topics and making your own desicions before their will be any Must Downloads out greets, Para

Why I think ArmA will still be better than OFP2
paragraphic l replied to opg4740's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
I'm sure that OFP2 will be more streamlined and stable then ArmA is, but I don't question the ability that BIS has too make ArmA 2 great on pc and consoles Got ArmA, OFP and OFP:E to prove that -
I just noticed this message on the IDEA Games website: Finally SOME news about another BIS project which hopefully could only mean GAME 2, but offcourse there are also ArmA options and maybe something totally new I'm trying to go this year!

Operation Bulletholes 2
paragraphic l replied to hawkins308's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
I seems that I cannot recreate such a thing atm. I will ask Solus if he can answer your question or maybe even show an example -
It makes up for some intense MP-mode I guess, when done proper offcourse

Operation Bulletholes 2
paragraphic l replied to hawkins308's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
I will test that out for you. Solus mentioned something about the accuracy a while ago, that with the current way of calculating this it's more some kind of "place_somewhere_around_this_area" thing, but if it places something in a radius of 5mm's or 50cm's I'm not sure -
Operation Bulletholes 2
paragraphic l replied to hawkins308's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
It's not impossible, you just need someone as Solus to use his scripting skills. He did not replace the original shader though, I THINK he just created a script that would attach textures to calculated impact areas. In this image you can still see some airborne bulletimpacts to the left but that is allready fixed. The image is shot using SLX Arma beta, when the mod is released it may not appear like it does in this image. I take no credit for the content, I only made the screenshot. -
This line really allows for some huge FPS gains especially in the North

Thanks for the info Suma! I have no idea yet how to change a particle but maybe in the near future.

BPA Realistic Sound Mod updated
paragraphic l replied to BPA_HawK's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
I like it, allthough; Footsteps sound too low Grenades are not always hearable and when they are also low I like the gun sounds but again they sound a bit to weak, they need a bit more punch in them Helicopter sound... tested with the AH6, The sound was a bit too slow it didn't sound like my rotors where allready on correct speed to get me off the ground. But most off the sounds are great they only need a bit off tweaking IMHO -
If you mean something like this I don't think that this engine is build like that, although the indication of the Bulldozer tool maybe prove otherwise, but I think that one is only for islands under construction with Visitor3

@PROPER_VegetationReplacement - beta release
paragraphic l replied to .kju's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
I think berghoff's nature packs are all great, but for use in Sahrani I think his Mediterranean pack is best suited. Nature Pack 4 Img2 Img3 Img4 Hope you can get his permission, or even better; Hope he is working on some ArmA stuff EDIT: I just tested this for my first time, and expected the trees to stand out way to much, but they quite fit in except for the blacklines around them. If you could also replace the grass then we all can play this game how we should. I finally can visit all the great spots north-sahrani has to offer and it really was a shame I couldn't before. BIS! Please take not of this solution because you all put way to much effort in creating such a nice environment that we should be able to enjoy it with decent frame rates -
I'm looking to buy almost that exact rig... and just read that the E6850 is OC-able to 4ghz and still stays stable sweet to hear that that rig actually knows how to handle this game!

Variable geometry, vehicles roadway
paragraphic l replied to IcebirdMK's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
YOU ROCK! how the hell can this been posted and have been unoticed by so many? Finally cockpit view inside the tank -
I've allready searched every pbo and was not able to find the bullethole as a texture. So i guess it's a particle. I'm not sure but 200 or more particles like that one would not create that much of an impact? now do they? Solus had his own impact for ArmA SLX and the settings where adjustable but the first... 7 or so had the original particle on top off them.
-
This is something I allready was affraid off, well no reason for me to be going then. So then it's up to the 'media' to tell us what BIS has in store Better start learning german then I guess
-
we all are wishing the same thing that you are thinking but when checking other images: I guess not, allthough this offcourse is another area and point of view... but in this pic it looks like the sky is photoshopped when comparing it with your pic.
